Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This hour is sponsored by Black Lung Brewing.
On a scale of 1 to 10 on the Impress Me Meter, trademark, where would you rate the Cubs' performance against Pirates ace Paul Skeens in yesterday's 7-2 win over Pittsburgh?
Seven. They were impressive. Can I sound any more like Jim Rome there? That was not intentional. Seven.
Chapter 2: What performance did the Cubs show against the Pirates ace?
On the impress me meter. No, wait. On the impress me meter, I give it a seven. I got to work on my Jim Rome. I don't really know how to do that well because he's got bass in his voice. But for an outing against Paul Skeens, who we know is somewhat fallible but also elite, to work him for five and a third innings and three walks.
which I know he still threw 10 strikeouts, but three walks out of skeins, you get four hits, three runs, only one of them was earned, but that's because you took advantage of a bevy of errors by these Pirates, two to be exact, that cost them runs. I thought it was a good outing. I thought it was impressive.
You know, the best thing that you can do as a team, especially one who really struggled offensively, is to not only show that the 10 runs you had to break your 10-game losing streak were true, but that it wasn't a fluke. And so to be able to come through and score seven runs the next day, to close out a series, get a happy flight to St.
Louis, all of those things that actually I feel like are important. You know, keep it going. And they kept the run going and they kept the offensive hustle going to smart base running plays, working counts. I thought that that was all very good.
I'm only going to give them a five for their work specifically against Paul Skeens.
Why are you calling Paul Skeens a lizard, Grody?
Well, because he is a lizard. Okay, Layla?
He did go to LSU. I feel like he would also survive the heat well.
Yeah, I think so. I think he has a certain immunity to it. He has that layer. It's the opposite.

Chapter 3: How did the White Sox perform in their series against the Twins?
Or maybe this just a, wouldn't it be nice, maybe this is the series where Alex Bregman becomes Alex Bregman. Wouldn't it be nice if this was, and I know he's had a nice little seven game hitting streak.
Yeah, he's put together a streak.
He's getting on base, but maybe the slug, maybe we see the slug in this series and that would be right on time for the Cubs.
It would also be nice against the Cardinals.
Exactly. Number three.
It's five on it, I want to.
Are you going first, by the way?
What do you want to do?
No, you go first. We'll alternate. We'll alternate. Wait, did Tyler get a coin out? No. It's 500 and 104. 500 and 104, three of the score. It's Layla Rahimi. It's Mark Grody. Here's question number three. Who was the MVP of the White Sox series win over the Twins?

Chapter 4: Who was the MVP of the White Sox series win over the Twins?
I wanted to start with what we've seen. That was an impressive series against the Twins. We asked the question in five on it, who was the MVP of that series win for the White Sox over the Twins? So I want to ask you.
The MVP of the whole series, or are you talking the last game there?
Either or. We said series, but if you want to split it up, you can.
Well, I think the last game was Davis Martin, and Davis Martin has just been outstanding. And Davis Martin really, you know, it's funny because he hasn't been in the majors all that long, but he is the longest tenured by White Sox service time of anyone on this team, which tells you how much they overhauled this team. And, you know, he was great as usual yesterday.
He already set a single season high. for individual victories at eight. If you, you know, count those things among pitchers, which, you know, you should in the right context. And he's a Cy Young candidate right now, an all-star candidate. And he doesn't like talking about himself, but the bottom line is he's been the best pitcher on that staff. So he was great yesterday.
But the thing about this team is, it's hard to pick an MVP from game to game because so many guys contribute to the victory. You know, Randall Gritchick had a three run double yesterday and the victory over the twins. And, you know, really they were the better team in that four game series overall.
That's, that's the biggest thing you can say is, yeah, I know fans get kind of worked up because they lost a tough game on Tuesday, but I mean, they won three out of four. You're not going to win every game. Sometimes the breaks go against you. I think if you're looking for an MVP overall, obviously,
Munataka Murakami has changed the franchise, you know, in so many ways, you know, it's a superstar in the middle of that lineup. It's a guy who draws kind of the focal point of attention, letting other guys kind of do their thing. And there are other very good players on that team.
Plus, you know, we can talk about the stuff off the field that he opens up the Pacific rim to the white Sox is a, you know, for marketing, for player acquisition, there's so much stuff there and he's been everything they won when they signed him the two year, $34 million deal. And then about 20 times more.
