fans, this is Take the North. What's the reason, Doc? It's here with your hosts. All these guys. Dan Weederer and Mark Crody. We're gonna take the north and never give it back. Hello again, everybody, and welcome into the Take the North Podcast. Along with Dan Weeder of the Athletic, I am Mark Grody of 1043 The Score, and we get to do one of our favorite esque episodes today. We like to do this every once in a while. Dan, we're doing a little bit of listen to this today. Some of the audio that we have accrued over the last several days that we find significant and maybe even entertaining.
Yeah, it's great to to occasionally just check in with some of the things we've heard and what it means to the big picture of things that are going on for the Bears out at Hallis Hall. We're entering, I guess, our third full week of training camp here. They're gonna have a a big scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon out in Lake Forest. They're gonna have a preseason game Saturday against the Browns. It's starting to get real here, Grody, uh, which I am I not mistaken that when we were just about to come on the air, you you did a little tone loke there with a Let's do it.

You're kind of, you kind of remind me of a you're kind of a funky cold Medina. That is sort of when we're when studs and I are talking about you, we're we're all we refer to you as the funky cold Medina.

was fine. Oh man, hilarious. Uh yeah, we're allowed to be slap happy d in the middle of training camp with all that has has gone on. That's for sure. And yes, I am man, it's it's I am definitely looking forward to a preseason game against Cleveland on Saturday. It reminded me of a 31-3 win over the Browns during the regular season where DJ Moore had a spectacular catch, and the Bears somehow Somehow, some way Dan held Miles Garrett to only one and a half sacks on that day.
In the preseason. So yeah, figure we gotta figure out who's playing this weekend and we'll get those answers here before too long and then figure out what we can actually uh learn and where our lens needs to be when we get out to Soldier Field on Saturday. It's very weird. Like it's kind of sneaks up on you. It kinda is slow getting here. And then all of a sudden you're in the car pulling into the uh, you know, North Garage at Soldier Field and you're like, here we go. You know, the weekends are now devoted to football for the rest of my life.
Yeah, yeah. Three of the yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly. There's no no end in sight for now, but uh three preseason games and it gets real at Carolina to open the season. But we will get there when we get there. Let's proceed with our listen to this episode here today. And one of the guys that every time that we have talked to him, one of the new bears, the Canadian-born nose-tackle, Neville Gallimore, when he speaks, he is entertaining. And a lot of us were told that before he even came here from the the Colts. He's played with Dallas and Miami, the Rams, and then finally with the Colts. And he signed a two-year $12 million deal here. And as expected, Neville Gallimore had a a lot to say. So we're gonna unload some of that right now.
I think that you will be interested in how poignant some of this is and how entertaining some of this is from Neville. Gallimore who starts with w uh the the rookie, Jordan Vandenberg. And Dan, you've been out there a little bit more before I play this. Jordan Vandenberg is one of these guys who I don't know what his impact will actually be on the season, but the sixth round defensive lineman certainly has has stood out enough to get name checked several times by coaches and teammates.
It's it's incredible. And then you you want to see that from rookies, guys that just come in and assert themselves. And I think that's what Jordan Vandenberg has done. He's just been competitively fearless and he's just gone out every single day and tried to do something that's going to turn, as you mentioned, his coaches and teammates' heads.
