Adam Hogue, Bears Insider. What's up everyone? My name's Adam Hogue. Host of the Hogue and Johns podcast. What I like about this Koji staff, it's it's like the the one hunter guys in a bar theory. When hunter guys in the bar are all screaming the same thing, that usually means that they're on to something. Even if it's a hundred guys in a bar. Like that's what I think about this with Colson Loveland. And so snap counts go up. John Z, it is that time for another high draft pick. Luther Burton. Adam Hog. Adam Hogie or Hog, excuse me, I don't know how to pronounce the last name with Rahim.
Mark Grote 0:37
Me and Grody on one oh four three to score. What's happening, everybody? It is Raheemi and Grodi on 1043 the score. And we are happy to introduce our next guest on the program. It is Adam Hogue. You should follow him right now on X at Adam Hogue, as you heard, the host of CHGO Bears and the Hogue Johns podcast. Hogue, what's going on, man? How are you? What's up guys? I'm good. How are you? We're doing well. It's kind of a kind of a weird day.

Hanging in.
Mark Grote 1:12
You know. Stuff's been happening. You know what I mean? Adam, you know, it's like Oh really? I wasn't aware. Yeah, yeah. Think things happen in this business. Do you know about that? Uh a little bit, yeah. I've uh I've had some things
Adam Hogue 1:25
happen.
Mark Grote 1:26
Yeah. Think things happen. Um, what what did you think about the starters playing? Were you surprised to s to hear and see an hour before the game that Caleb Williams was tuning up like he was gonna start?
Adam Hogue 1:40
Yeah, I was. In full transparency, I immediately felt really dumb. Hm. Uh Because you you as soon as I realized they were playing, I was like, this makes perfect sense.

Who is Adam Hogue and what is his background as the Bears insider?

Adam Hogue 1:51
You go back and look at how they did this last year. It was the exact same thing. They didn't play in the first game. They scheduled the practice after the first preseason game, the day after, which is like up to that point covering the Bears I'd never heard of. Wait, you're gonna have a practice the day after a game? Yeah, for all the players you don't play in the game. Well, they didn't have that practice scheduled this week. So duh, they get the players are gonna play the game. Yeah. And then and then it if you go back and look at it last year, it was like fourteen snaps. What did it come out to the other night? Nine? Nine. No, it was so e they get a handful of snaps. And then so now let's look ahead at and
Adam Hogue 2:26
I I real I kinda understand why Ben's getting annoyed at answering these questions, mainly from Pat Finley, every single time. I love how obsessed Pat is with the p starters playing in the pre season b preseason, by the way. It's every day there's questions about it. Um Last year they played like the whole first half then in that third game. Now, the only thing that I didn't know was different or w and it still could be different is the scheduling of the joint practices because last year it was the first week and the second week of the preseason. This year it's the second week and the third week. So does that change anything? I mean, it seems like if you're gonna take Ben at his word, they literally are on a snap count for the entire training.
Adam Hogue 3:05
camp and they're trying to get to a certain number. So maybe if they do get to that number by the end of Thursday's practice in Nashville, you don't see them play as much Saturday in that game. Um but it also wouldn't shock me if We're sitting here next week and then it's like, oh, they followed the exact same blueprint as last year. And that would make total sense. Cause for the most part, even like up into the to the way he's scheduling practices in camp. With the first couple weeks being in the morning at eight o'clock and then they switch to these afternoon practices. I'm I've been following this guy's like it's been to a T everything that they did last year in Ben's first season. Like really nothing's changed.
Adam Hogue 3:43
So that tells me that it might be the exact same thing again.
Vinny Rotino 3:46
Well, I think also, Adam, how much does this actually extend? Because for example, yeah, the difference was, you know, fourteen snaps last year, nine this year, but remember all the discussion about how Dan Campbell pointed out that that was the Lions preseason plays and then Ben Johnson goes, Yeah, that's exactly where I ran them.
