Anthony Herron breaks down Caleb Williams' performance in Bears' loss to Rams
19 Jan 2026
Chapter 1: What unique strategies do players use to stay warm during cold games?
Listen to Rahimi Harrison-Grody on the Odyssey and iHeart Radio apps.
Matthew Stafford and Devonte Adams both have experience playing in the cold and know exactly what they like to wear. For Matthew, he has a scuba top under his jersey to keep his core warm. Devonte has a special jersey with a hand warmer built into it. And get this, some of the Rams have put cayenne pepper in their socks. Yes, just like this one that you can buy at the grocery store.
I'm told it brings heat and it keeps the blood flowing, Kaylee. Whatever works.
That was nicely done. The feeling hot, hot, hot Tyler Biederbaugh, which makes me think of Mike and Jan's trip to Sandals from The Office. This is Rahimi Harrison-Grody on 670 The Score. We're joined by Anthony Heron, who now has the music in him, and he is dancing on Twitch.
How you feeling? How you feeling?
Twitch.tv slash Chicago 670 The Score. So, yes.
cayenne pepper in the shoes now you know listen there's a lot of people who say like oh if you put cayenne pepper on your lips it'll make them like plump up a little bit because they'll be slightly irritated from the pepper you know that people do that that's well it's like an ingredient in a lot of these lip plumpers is peppers and you know the joke was don't touch your face
avoid touching your face during COVID as if you touched hot jalapenos, because if you touch peppers, it'll burn.
That makes sense.

Chapter 2: How did Anthony Herron react to Caleb Williams' performance?
He said he's done it before against Green Bay. I had just never heard of it. That's why I was so shocked. Because I thought I had heard of all the things. But the fact that Ant had never heard of it. He played at Iowa. Like, it's cold.
Why not just, like, hack up some ghost peppers and put those in your socks or something like that?
No, no, no. The whole thing sounds dangerous to me, doesn't it? Like, there's an activation. This is the most dangerous thing since Mike North put Jardineer in his shoes. I mean, really, this brings me back a little bit.
Yeah, you get near some of the heaters on the sidelines. I've had gloves melt standing next to those heaters before. It's an experience out there, just trying to do what you can to keep your body as warm as possible. Because you go through pregame, and when your body gets all lathered up and your blood temperature starts to rise, you feel fine going through pregame.
But if you're not out there for a series and you have some extended period of time, things start to clamp up. and shut down, and it can be hard to just stay warm and get your body kind of going again if you've actually been off the field for a little bit. So maybe the answer is just a little bit of sriracha.
We're all looking for the solutions, you know. Everybody's got their hack, their way of doing it. I mean, I'm pretty simple. You know my hack? Yeah. I stay inside. Go ahead. When Henry Meltzer offers you tickets, sometimes you'll go, but most of the time you're going to go.
Hey, Henry was in a suite.
Today or yesterday, Henry was at a suite. I was too busy, believe it or not, to talk to him. To say hi to your friend, Henry Melton? I thought I saw him in the distance. I think as I was doing my report, I'm like, Henry, come back! Come back! Come back, Mr. Man. Yeah, man. I mean, quite a scene out there last night with the cold and the snow.
It was almost like there was a repeat in terms of the ambiance and the crowd of the Packers game, and they just couldn't come through with the final act, man.

Chapter 3: What makes Caleb Williams a standout quarterback this season?
Cole, you know, looks right into her phone. Anybody who hasn't seen the image, the video that Stacey Dale's captured and posted on her social media, you're not going to find a better shot that just kind of captures everything that ā well, it doesn't capture everything Caleb did because he ran about, you know, 50 yards in the opposite direction. Yeah.
As far as Cole Komet and his route and his catch and his reaction afterwards, it's an amazing look at it that Stacey Dales had. I mean, I thought Tirico and Collinsworth, it's the number one show on television for a lot of reasons, and Rob Hyland, the producer there at NBC, I'm sure they're all in communication when that happens. And Tirico's just like, you know what?
We're at the end of regulation. Let's just all just sit back, take this in for a moment, just what Soldier Field was like. I can only imagine how bonkers it was in the stadium in that moment.
Well, and you know this too, Anthony, and so do my partners here on the show. There's no cheering in the press box, but the gasps up there, some faint cheers I thought I heard way on the other side of the press box. What was your initial ā I mean, I could barely keep it together when he completes that pass to Cole Komet.
So just like the moment where Jadae Walker at the end of regulation for the regular season victory that they had over the Packers where I just let out an enormous yell in that moment, same exact thing. Now I'm upstairs, I'm in the office, and my wife and son are watching the game elsewhere, and they were actually a little bit behind me.
So they just hear me starting to scream like a maniac, and it felt similar where on third down ā Caleb just basically aborts the play and kind of throws it out the back of the end. So I was like, Caleb, you know you only got one down left here, right? Maybe you should have tried something right there.
No, but that goes back to what I was saying about using your legs to at least get a few yards or something. He's just out here pure pocket passer at that point.
And the pocket extends all the way to the opposing end zone. Now, that's the first time I've ever seen a quarterback stay in the pocket but run 30 yards in the opposite direction as the pocket extends backwards. So he would not have been able to get away with an intentional grounded because he ran straight back. But think about the presence of mind. And everything that he's evaluating ā
in that moment because he bursts. And I mean, Caleb's speed has certainly been a big part of the storyline of his elusiveness this season. Just his straight line speed is exceptional. But he knows, I've got to get this ball off.

Chapter 4: How did the Bears' defense perform against the Rams?
So I don't. I'm certainly not here to question every decision that Ben Johnson made, but I would say just the two games as a whole in the postseason, I think the aggression on fourth down was ramped up a bit more than was necessary and that suited every moment.
Just a couple things here, and we've got to let you go here, Big Amp. I just want people to know just from what I'm being told out at Hallis Hall, Caleb Williams is speaking right now. So we'll see if we can get some more insight and see if he says anything different than he said yesterday. I'm also told that there is a request in by the Bears reporters out there to have DJ Moore be there.
And hopefully, assuming he's not hurt or something or getting medical treatment or whatever the case may be, because we have to respect that situation.
potentially but there is a request in for dj moore and and coming up a little bit later you mentioned duquan brisker and whether or not he will be back i asked him those questions with follow-ups which you'll hear at 125 so hopefully we'll get a little bit of insight on that guys is that going to be inside the locker room inside the locker room oh you've been hearing about that you've been hearing about inside the locker room that's on the streets out there oh yeah you've been
It's the premier football locker room show in Chicago. That is correct. We're a hit song. You know what I'm saying? That's what we are.
Especially with that low brass.
Oh, yeah. Taylor Swift is back with a hit, and so are we. It's an original score, the low brass inside the... Yeah, we started all that. Nobody's ever had it. We attribute and footnote none of it. Yeah, this week in baseball, that was our idea. Mel Allen is our guy.
Just like Keys to the Game.
Keys to the Game is brand new. The stuff we come up with on this show, people around town owe us. I like Twift, though. This week in football, I like that. Oh, yeah. Love it. It's classic.
