Rahimi, Harris & Grote Show
Bears are emphasizing completion percentage improvement for Caleb Williams
28 May 2026
Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Rahimi Harrison Grody. That's a show trying to win a Marconi right there. Middays 10 to 2 on 104.3 The Score. Great game.
We said we were taking requests. The first one came from Mark Grody. This is Rahimi Harrison Grody on 104.3 The Score. And there it is. Are you happy? Thank you.
Very satisfied. I felt that jolt of adrenaline.
You did. You moved accordingly.
Do I get my buttes back? You do get your buttes back. Why did I debut you? I forgot. I made a cruelty. No Vaseline comment. Oh, that's right. Which is the name of the song. Which is the name of the song. Yeah, but there was something.
I'm going to leave you guys to it.
Yeah, you get your buttes back. Thank you.
In the meantime, Ben Johnson is speaking at Hallis Hall. And if there's one thing that we all want to see improve out of Caleb Williams, It's the completion percentage. Can we agree on that?
58.1 needs to be better.

Chapter 2: What is the main focus of the Bears regarding Caleb Williams?
Caleb Williams, that if you had done this and that and this, and then you add it all up, they could probably literally show him a piece of paper that says your completion percentage would have been 64% if you would have done these things.
I don't disagree. Probably two or three throws every game he wanted back.
Yes.
Which I think that's pretty typical. And at the same time, that would have gotten you there to a much higher completion percentage. You at least want it out of the 50s. At the baseline minimum, you want it to raise to at least 60%. Number one, though, on point of emphasis for Caleb Williams in his passing game was reduced sacks. They did that.
Check.
So I feel like this makes sense as the 201 level of the class.
I mean, he's checked a lot of boxes. You're right. Sacks, let's check that. Fourth quarter work, check. Brilliant. Touchdowns to interceptions this year, what was it, 27-7? Yeah, check.
Check. And that was never a problem of his.
Yeah, almost 4,000 yards. I don't know if I could check.

Chapter 3: How is the coaching staff emphasizing completion percentage improvement?
I don't necessarily know that it's his.
Oh, it's his. I mean, you don't think Caleb Williams is not aware of the fact that the Bears have never had a 4,000-yard passer before? I think it matters to him because these are records. He plans to be here for a long time, so I think he'd like to topple all Bears quarterback records, which he can do.
Yeah, pretty easily. But I feel like when it comes to team goal versus individual goal versus this would be nice, I just don't know where it fits in all of those categories.
He wants to win, of course.
For us, it's a big deal. For many people, it's number one.
But think about going back to the Roma Dunze thing when he had heard about how minuscule the records were for wide receivers. Johnny Morris? Yeah, yeah, that we always have to go back to Johnny Morris and the Marty Bookers of the world and pop-up Alan Robinson and Alshon Jeffrey, all the guys that we always have to reference. And Rome was kind of shocked there. In a career?
Very shocked to hear that. So these players get a little motivated by that. When you have a chance to break franchise records of the oldest franchise, then I think it's probably pretty cool. But winning, of course, is their top goal.
No, I agree. And we appropriately get a text 312-644-6767. What about all of the drops? Yeah, we have talked about that many times. Catching a ball is a two-way street. You can't pass to yourself. And there were so many drops last season. It was unacceptable. That was one of the first things Ben Johnson talked about in his offseason commentary was receivers need to catch the ball better.
So you're right. That absolutely goes into completion percentage. But as far as what Caleb Williams can do, I still think those are separate categories. He can throw a better ball, and they can also catch better.

Chapter 4: What are Caleb Williams' current completion percentage statistics?
Everybody's got to coach better.
Why do I feel like Antoine Randall-El could still probably suit up if needed?
Oh, no, he probably could. I actually took note of that. He looks like he's showing up to camp in the best shape of his life. I mean, he really, like, he's thin, got the thin muscle thing going on, does Antoine Randall-El what up.
847 says, I don't think you can fully check the box on sacks. While this was greatly improved last year, I think you have to see how quickly the new center and left guard situation get worked out. No doubt about that. But Caleb Williams took a lot of sacks last year.
Did you say center and left tackle?

Chapter 5: What factors contributed to Caleb Williams' completion percentage drop?
I thought you said left guard.
This said left guard, but I knew they meant left tackle.
Okay. Some have an old Joe Tooney that I don't know about.
Old Joe Tooney is staying put and I'm wrapping him in bubble wrap. Thank you very much.
Well, that's part of why I'm very comfortable with whomever ends up being the Bears center this year, whether it is Logan Jones or Garrett Bradbury. You have two really, really good, one awesome in Joe Tooney guard, and Jonah Jackson had an excellent year last year. So there is some comfort in knowing that they will be taken care of, whoever is the center will be taken care of.
We can't keep anybody happy. 6-3, I was like, forgot the insane catches made that shouldn't have happened.
I have it on my sheet. Some of the best throws in franchise history. I just didn't get to it.
Well, also, do we need to prove that we all saw that? Like, I feel like that's a given. We know what we saw.
It's fun to say, though.

Chapter 6: What are the expectations for Caleb Williams' performance this season?
I mean, this is all we know examples of good quarterbacking and playmaking as a quarterback in the NFL. We see them every Sunday. They're usually in the primetime windows. So you can have all these things and you can actually still be better at your job. And that's what Ben Johnson wants. And I like his standards that he sets for his team. And he's right.
The receivers dropped a lot of catchable balls. And the quarterback didn't have the best placement on some of them. And he doesn't have to do everything. All of those things can be true. And I feel like that's fair.
And if he does all those things, then I will probably entertain the idea that Caleb Williams is on his way to being a top five quarterback in the NFL. I'm not there yet, like a lot of our national pundits and some of our friends, like Mike Florio and Colin Cowherd. God bless them. I love that the national media is speaking about a Bears quarterback as top three, top five.
But there are still steps to be had. There's no half stepping on this show.
Since we've brought him up a lot, I feel like we should bring this up to you, Mark Rohde. According to Brad Biggs, who talks football with you.
Biggs.
Bears quarterback Jalen Johnson.
Jalen Johnson, actually, but go ahead.
Is participating in the voluntary portion of the offseason program beginning this week.
