What sparked the tension during the Bears‑Titans joint practice?
Rahimi and Grody.
Let's go live to our hotlight, Heat Crow Armstrong. What's going through your mind right now?
What's your profanity? He said pop of the mind.
You gotta let it flow. And I feel like that's exactly what happened. Our poor producer Ray spilled his coffee, so thanks for christening our studio.
Middays, 10 a.m. to two on the score. Score.
And that's the Oh yeah! Oh yeah, it's gotta go down, man. It's Rahimi and Grody on 1043 the score in studio. With us for a second segment is Clay Harbor, the nine-year NFL veteran, former roommate of Joe Tooney, and of course co-host of the Big Pro Football Show and the Chicago lead on CHSN. Guys, this bears joint practice. It's a fluid situation. It's all going down. Here's a couple of uh tweets for you guys. Some players came together after the last series for starters and team drills. Luther Burden, who was not doing team drills, you know, he just came back from injury, got into some jawing with Jeffrey Simmons and Jermaine Johnson, size advantage, Titans, it says. And then this from Patrick Finley, Xavier Thomas, the Bears rookie wide receiver, just tried to.
He's seven pounds. What is he doing?
These are Ben Johnson guys. What's he say he wants? He wants train killers. He wants dogs. He wants guys that have that mentality. I don't have any problem with that. Go out there. That's how they play. You've seen Luther as a dude that's choking the Packer guy. And then he puts it as his profile picture the next week before they play the Packers. That's the guy I want on my team. I'm sorry. Let's go.
That's stone cold actually. Like when you when you really consider it, that is that is cold. Especially as a
rookie.
How did the altercation between Luther Burden, Jeffrey Simmons and Jermaine Johnson unfold?
I love it. I love as a player I love guys like that in Back back when I was playing, back in my day, I two days. I loved a good fight. I mean, I I couldn't get through a day without fighting someone and people like, Oh, you're so mild, man. You're like on the field, you're a different person. I wanna I'm blocking to the whistle. I I wanted to fight someone. Guess what? The coaches love that. They love the guy that's gonna block to the whistle, that's gonna do that extra give that extra shove. And th d I love hearing that about a guy like Xavier Thomas, Luther Burton. That shows you they're they care. That shows you they're in it. They're they're watching, they're listening, they're they're defending their guys.
I love all that. And then Luther, he don't care. Jeffrey Sim you know big Jeffrey Simmons is Grody? Simmons is growing? Yeah. Andrewine Johnson. These guys are massive. These guys are massive. Uh-huh. So let's go. No fear.
Well, in the meantime, then you've got guys just quietly doing their thing. Veterans after career years. We've talked about it quite a bit. You know, Wani talked about DeAndre Swift's camp. You got to talk to him on Monday. Yeah. Mark at the Take the North podcast. Really cool that he got to come down and talk to you. Loved
it.
And then apparently Ben Johnson finally started talking about DeAndre's camp today.
Yeah, no, I think i he and I just had the conversation the other day. It's is the best I've seen him this time of year. And uh you look back at a year ago, he was very explosive and yet it takes a little while to gel between him the offensive line.
Why do the coaches value aggressive, ‘block‑to‑the‑whistle’ mentality in players?
I think he's he's accelerating his vision here at this point. I think Coach Studisville's been fantastic for him, um just with the reads and being able to know the intent of where we're trying to hit things. Um he bounced I think he's doing a doing a really good job right now. Um got we just gotta get him to that first week nice and healthy and and ready to go. I think he's prime for a big year though.
It does feel that way, man. I mean, all signs point towards it. He he ended up having a very good last year after a slow start, those first four games, and then Ben Johnson and both those guys, DeAndre Swift and Kyle Manun guy, figured it out. It does feel like this could be his best year, man.
Absolutely. And I mean you look at the the the last few years, when he was with the Eagles, he averaged four point six yards per carry, two hundred two hundred yards uh receiving.
