Listen, I I wanna give your listeners uh kind of more context into your career because I feel like you don't get the flowers you deserve, quite frankly. Because I don't think people people in Chicago will probably understand.
What did Ben Baby notice about the Bears’ offense during the joint practice?
It's uh it's very similar Dallas for Worth the marketplace, is similar to Chicago. And there's not many people who leave DFW to go kind of work, find other opportunities in this media business for you to do what you've done, have the career you've done in a market like Chicago. Um gives me so much joy and pride as a North Texas alum and it's been so awesome kinda seeing you do it. So I feel like we need to put some respect on your name uh here amongst the uh North Texas alums.
Oh, you were too kind and I've always loved your Bengals updates and they become useful to our bears coverage more than uh more than you think they would. And yesterday was a great example, Ben. Thank you for the kind words and also for all of your updates on Twitter yesterday from practice. What did you see out there?
Yeah, luckily we're a little looser in our media restrictions uh than than other teams, so which is nice. Uh I thought the offenses looked really good, uh, you know, from the Chicago's perspective, because I'm sure that's what the listeners care about more than what the Bengals looked like. Um, I thought Caleb Williams and Colson Loveland, uh especially Caleb, really hit a rhythm in some of the team periods before the situational period at the end of the joint practice. I thought in red zone, Caleb looked really sharp. I've always been a big Fan of Roma Dunze. And in fact, I talked to somebody before he enters the draft, and someone said, you know, I asked somebody, you know, with that had really strong Washington ties what they thought of Michael Penix and Adunze.
And they said that Penix would probably be a decent pro, but Adunze is the one to watch. And I think for him, yesterday, he was in a matchup and really had some good reps against DJ Turner, a guy who followed the other team's best receiver last season for the Bengals. One of the better cornerbacks in the NFL when you look at his advanced metrics. And I thought Rome had some really good reps. And and the fact that they were able to do that without another uh personal favorite of mine, Luther Burden, on the field was pretty impressive. I've been a massive Burden fan since like his sophomore year at Missouri. So hopefully, you know, he's able to to kind of play up to his potential and stay healthy in Chicago.
But I thought Chicago's offense looked good. Up until those situational periods.
Ben, I uh y you're talking about the Bears offense. I I actually have questions about what you saw from the Bengals offense because all my questions this preseason are about the Bears defense and where it is compared to where Bears fans hope it gets to. What did you note about Joe Burrow and Chicago's ability to somewhat, I don't know, slow him down, get in his head in terms of breaking up the flow of an offense?
