Uh I guess the first thing we want to ask you is is of all the times where we needed to see quite honestly a whooping of the Brewers after that last ten games I'd say was was yesterday. What was your impression of yesterday's game?
I guess you just never know um, you know, how it's gonna happen with this team. We know they're good. We know offensively they've been really good. They made some really good moves to, you know, get that pitching staff You know, some more depth. But when you think about losing a couple to the Reds and then coming to this series, you're kinda a little skeptical of like what's gonna happen. Like, you know, the Brewers they don't come in as this team, you know, seeking blood. They they just play really good. you know, quality baseball and I just felt like this series gonna be really tough. And last night I'm like This is like the best team in in in all of baseball, talking about the Cubs. So I don't think you ever know what this team w I do know they good.
It's just, you know, sometimes they step up in ways where I'm just like, whoa.
It's interesting. They if they hit bombs, obviously like that last night, but the last what, four don't count 'cause they're off Andrew Vaughn or whatever however many it was. But like if they hit bombs, they can beat anybody. As long as they get the bullpen figured out. I mean, like there's there's broad questions to think about. But I gotta tell you, Cliff, I every time I think of the Brewers over the last three years, I go back to one time we After a game where the Brewers just played really clean and the Cubs threw the ball away, I think it was like a botched pickoff at second, and you referred to them as a button up team. Yeah. You you refer to the Brewers as a button up team, and I've I've never forgotten that.
We play the clip sometimes, and it's just like the Brewers are just so clean and smart and fundamentally so hell. Last week they benched a dude for not hustling, right? Right? The next day. The next day. The next day he had two infield hits and a stolen base. Yeah. The next day. So like they have a culture. They got a thing. I how do the Cubs play clean enough? Are they button up enough when you zoom out to hang with the Brewers in a five game series if that's what we get?
Oh I I would say this. I love the way the Cubs play defense. I think even without Dansby The ability to move Nico out of position to put him in short, made a jump throw last night. I thought it was pretty pretty clean, you know, smooth. Ramirez has been able to play um, you know, uh enough where you feeling comfortable with this kid, getting a chance to play every day, getting Matt Shaw back.
