What insights does Cody Westerlund provide about Caleb Wilson?
Rahimi Harris and Grody. We are family here. We are family. Middays 10 to 2 on 104.3 The Score.
I expect to have Rick here a year, honestly. I mean, I'm going to work hard. I'm going to do what it takes. I feel like the team is really good for me in how I envision to play. And I know I'm a hard worker. So whatever I need to fix and work on throughout the season and before the season, I'm going to work on it so I can be a great player.
Oh, man. If nothing else at all, I like the way Caleb Wilson talks. The number four overall draft pick to the Chicago Bulls. He says it right. He says it with conviction. He says it with maturity. As we welcome you back to Rahimi Harris and Grody on 104.3 The Score along with Marshall Harris. I am Mark Grody. Layla will be here tomorrow. It'll be all three of us for the next couple of days after today leading into the 4th of July. Joining us now in studio, we are happy to have him. He is Cody Westerlund. He was just down the hallway. Editor at thescorechicago.com is what we're calling it nowadays. He is also a Score Bulls reporter. And freshly out of the meeting with Mitch, I'm glad that he cooperated and got you to us on time.
Cody, yes.
I could have been on at 11.25, but we were talking floor logistics here. Obviously, there's construction going on out there.
There is a lot of construction going on. It's weird here right now at the score because there's people losing their offices. Some people are being displaced from their office. People don't know their place right now, literally, on this floor.
Yeah, we're not necessarily homeless, but we're home insecure right now. If you have a spot right now, you're trying to figure out, am I going to have a spot in a week? That's kind of where it goes. But we know who does have a spot. Caleb. Wilson, or as I like to call him, Mr. Wilson, so that I don't say Caleb Williams. That dude, everything he has said, and this is not just in his press conference, Cody, but in every interview I've seen online, whatever, he's saying all the right things. And I can't wait to see him on the court. And I love that when the summer league schedule came out, I was like, oh, that's interesting how your schedule, you've got the number one pick, the number two pick, and the number three pick online.
lined right up for you to take on in summer league. And he was very confident talking about his place amongst those top four. Well, it's very interesting because we let in with his rookie of the year goal aspiration, and that's got to be like number five on his list just in the past weeks of grand expectations and comments and lofty goals that he's set for himself and that he's happy to come out and talk about, right? Because he said just at the press conference the other day and made the remarks, too, on draft night, he wants to be the greatest to ever play the game, Sam Smith, and Our friend at Bulls.com brought up, that's something to say in a city that's had Michael Jordan play in it, obviously.
And Caleb, he expresses, I totally understand, but you know what you don't see is that I'm going to put in the work. So if I'm putting in the work, I feel like I have the right to say that. It doesn't mean I become that. But you know if he becomes 50% or 75% of the greatest player of all time, the Bulls will have a good one on their hands. So it's been interesting because... Of those top four prospects, he's the one that needs his game refined the most, probably. But he's setting these grand expectations. So what's interesting to me is how will fans watch him, follow him, and just digest his rookie season? Because these aren't just outsiders and media members and fans proclaiming how good he could be.
It's he himself saying it. And I think Bryson Graham has been the guy... Preaching patience about the whole team, but he also made a comment about Caleb Wilson, too, like, you know, slow the roll just a little bit, something along those lines in expectations and everything, because it'll take time. So just this idea of how long will it take and what Bryson said, what Caleb said, and how everyone digests it is fascinating to me.
