Chapter 1: What are the key highlights of the Bears' schedule release?
This hour is brought to you by Cars for Kids.
I could do Stephen A. 's job, guys. It's not that hard. Danny Parkins. QB1 party! All are invited! Host of Fox Sports 1's First Things First. These games on the East Coast, man. I don't know. It's very hard to be me. I'm up forever.
East Coast time is by far... Central time is the best time zone. It's not even a debate. No, I think that's true. It's a hundred... East Coast... Eastern time means... It makes zero sense.
It's terrible. Oh, boy, you. The Bears, plenty of reason to doubt them.
Chapter 2: How does Danny Parkins feel about the East Coast time zone?
Caleb Williams, no.
Former host of 670 The Score before he abandoned us. That's a Caleb Williams custom, baby. Jersey number one is going to the Raptors. You guys made it seem like as Chicago Bears fans, we had our guy, Danny Parkins, all these guys. Danny Parkins on 104.3 The Score. It's hard being me.
Wait, did we get a new Danny Parkins open? I think we did. This is Rahimi Harris and Grody on 104.3 The Score, and he joins us via our hotline. He is also on Twitch, twitch.tv slash thescorechicago. We are just one week away from the Cubs for a Cure Radiothon.
Chapter 3: How do the Bears' expectations compare to last season?
Danny Parkins, how is it going? Tell us the latest, and if people want to get involved, where should they go?
I need more time.
Well, that I cannot do.
Yeah. No, listen. The thing about it is it's going to get here, and then it's going to be done, and we're going to raise a ton of money. So I'm super excited about it. There's still time to get involved for sponsors or individuals. We have insane donation incentives, like just completely insane. So I would just say ā Get ready at this point.
If people still want to get involved, the DMs are open. 1043radiothon at gmail.com is still open. We've been plugging that for a long time. People have reached out in amazing ways. This is a new one, and this is fun. How about a Cubs takeover of St. Louis for the Friday after the Radiothon? Oh, yeah. It's Cubs-Cardinals. It's in St. Louis.
It's the Friday night game, so you've got to make the road trip. Jordan Davis, I'm not familiar, but he's apparently a huge country star, is performing a concert on the field after the game. And I have, I think it's, I have over 20 tickets, like premium seats, like a bunch of row A's, a bunch of behind the Cubs dugouts.
a bunch of right behind home plate with like all you can eat, all you can drink, parking passes and the whole thing. Like we are absolutely going to move these tickets and have a bunch of Cubs fans that will be noticeable on the broadcast and like the best, the best seats in the house for that game. And you know, Sweet tickets to every Bears game this year. Not S-W-E-E-T, S-U-I-T-E.
So, like, premium Bears tickets with cool experiences there. Autograph memorabilia. Just, like, be sure you're listening and watching because the whole thing is simulcast on Marquee on May 21st. We raised $750,000 last year. I think we've got a real shot at a million if the score audience comes out. But even if we get to 6, 7, 8, 9, whatever we get to...
It's going to be a big number, and it's for a great cause.

Chapter 4: What is the Cubs for a Cure Radiothon and how can people get involved?
And so I hope people get involved and hang out with me all night.
1043radiothon at gmail.com is the address if you want to get involved. We've had a lot of support on the text line, and we've gotten an update from the Twitch mob. MXHawk says the mob has raised over $2,300, so they are ready to go. It's amazing.
Yeah, no, that's a great job by the Twitch mob, as always, and I know they'll be hanging out with me all night. I'll try to get into the chat late in the broadcast so that I can get in and start interacting. Honestly, I haven't done a count yet on number of sponsors and number of guests. But it's pretty ridiculous, the sheer volume of people. And I'm really proud of it, guys.
And I think the score should be really proud of it. We have a lot of returning guests. We're going to do an in-memoriam. I don't know if I told you guys about that, but we're going to be honoring some of the patients who've been on in the past who have passed away, just regular folk who had been on the Radiothon.
but also, you know, Lynn Bramer and my brother Brad and Rhino and Troy Murray and Terry Bores. And so, you know, year over year over year, this thing is really growing. And, you know, I really want to convince like all of the companies in Chicago that this is the best way to allocate their philanthropic dollars because 100% goes to the cause.
And I hope that 20 years from now, we're still doing it. So it's, I'm very, very excited, even if it is remarkably stressful to put the whole thing together, but it's fun. But you live for the stress, Danny. It's a labor of love, right? I do. I do live for the stress. The problem is that I don't know how to use...
Excel or, like, Google Sheets or, like, any of the, like... Look, I have... I'm holding up a... I do this by hand with yellow pads. Yeah! Oh, no. And then with, like, Apple Notes.
And so then I have to, like, transcribe all of the information to Ray Diaz, who's going to be doing, I think, a 10- or 12-hour shift, and to Randy Merkin, who's coming in to help, and then to our tremendous promotions team.

Chapter 5: What exciting incentives are offered during the Cubs for a Cure Radiothon?
And I have to, like, get them all of the information. And, I mean, hold on. Hold on a second. It's, like... You guys think I'm joking. I have three separate yellow pads for this thing with donations, with patient stories, with sponsorships, with like tickets and incentives and giveaways and times. And it's crazy. I need to get I need an assistant is what I really need. That's the truth.
Where's Robbie? This is a big journaling day because we heard Derek Hill talk about a journal that he keeps of his pinch hit appearances. And then the next thing you know, yeah, you've got the legal pads. Where's Robbie? Isn't Robbie supposed to help you with this? Grody's always telling him to write stuff down.
Robbie doesn't work for me. Why not? He works on the show. Do I occasionally ask him to get me a bagel? Maybe.
You know what I mean?
You haven't moved him up to dry cleaning yet? Say again? You haven't moved him up to dry cleaning yet?
Yeah, no, not dry cleaning, but the dynamic in the producer room is kind of funny because, you know, Robbie and I have a relationship that dates back to radio, obviously, and all the producers and all the people who work on the television show, they're all amazing, and we do team-building things and, you know, get invited to each other's weddings and have happy hours or whatever, so we are friends, but, like...
Some of the more tenured producers are a little floored at how comfortable Robbie is, like talking to me and making fun of me. Like there is no like this is a TV term, not how I see myself, but there is no like producer talent dynamic between him and I. And so they'd be like, why is he allowed to like talk to you like that? I'm like, I don't know, man. It's just a little different.
Robbie allowed to talk to you. I can see it too. He talks to you in a way that doesn't quite fit that dynamic. We're friends. And again, the radio culture is just a different... Much more informal. It's more informal. Exactly. There have definitely been a few times where it's been like, what's going on here?
As you put it, Danny, the remarkable stress that you're dealing with and putting this together in the good way, has it precluded you...

Chapter 6: What challenges does Danny Parkins face while organizing the Radiothon?
Oh, man, they're calling me with my room service. Is that Robbie? Robbie's got your food. Robbie, iron my shirt. No, no, Robbie. Just leave it. Thank you.
Oh, my God. They were calling you. That wasn't an excuse.
They're at the door. They're at the door. You can't get them from his interview to go get the door. With my food. I apologize for that. It's so unprofessional. What were we saying? No, but if you look at the Seahawks schedule, it can't be the Rams or the Niners because they are playing each other in week one in Australia.
There's another opponent on their schedule who I'm forgetting that already has a game. I think it was maybe the Cowboys are on Seattle's home schedule or the Giants. But one of the other games that's been released, we already know that they're in the opener. So that chops it down from eight possible teams to five. Then it's not going to be Arizona. Right?
They're not going to open Seahawks Cardinals. So it's Seahawks Chargers, Seahawks Patriots, Seahawks Bears, or Seahawks Chiefs. Oh, no, and we have Chiefs. Chiefs have been knocked up. Right. You can just leave it outside, please. One second. Don't skimp on the dessert now. Make sure the tiramisu is there. Danny, let's be honest.
It's either going to be the Patriots or it's going to be the Bears, and I'm thinking it's going to be the Bears. Does the NFL want that smoke? Vrabel front and center off the ā just from the tip. That's the other thing. Can you promote Vrabel? That's what I'm saying. It's going to be the Bears. I'm convinced. I'll be shocked if it's anybody but the Bears. It probably will be.
I have a very angry room service person at my door. Can you guys hold on for a second?
We are listening to Danny Perkins go get his room service here on 104.3 The Score. You know, they say people get promoted, and you don't really understand the lifestyle, but then he starts talking about Robbie getting his bagel, and then next thing you know, the guy who's hosting your segment just abandons us for the room service.
Robbie, butter my bread. That's right. That's actually helpful.

Chapter 7: What are the emotional impacts of the stories shared during the Radiothon?
He sent the picture to us. He was like, Robbie did. But Ben Johnson was out here saying that he went to a Cubs game and nobody saw him. And I was like, little did you know, our intrepid producer from the Rahimi Harrison Grody show was tailing you the entire time.
Don't y'all feel like he's laid back at home, though? That's a different person.
Right, but I don't need to know that person. I need to know the guy who kept the same energy with Matt LaFleur on the field.
Oh, okay. We just want the guy with gigabytes of playbook. That's all. Or what is the word? Terabyte.
That's Press Taylor.
Yeah, terabytes.
Gigabytes of playbook is like Tecmo Bowl.
Next Friday, how many terabytes?
How many terabytes? The Rahimi family has entered the chat. That we can help you with. My brother doesn't watch a ton of sports, but he can get on the phone with you and discuss terabytes all day long.
