Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
This hour is being brought to you by Vasectomy Clinics of Chicago.
The views and opinions of Layla Rahimi, Marshall Harris, and Mark Grody should not be taken too seriously. Especially when they give advice. Do not take Marshall's analogies literally. Especially when it comes to Russell Dorsey. The sports thoughts of Rahimi, Harris, and Grody may change at any time. It's just sports. Okay, thanks. Bye.
Rahimi Harrison-Grody, 10-2 on 104.3 The Score.
Mark Gannis, who was on the – he's a regular on Mullen Hall and always very entertaining, very opinionated, very direct, very well-sourced. He was at the owner's meeting, so he is big into this. Talking about the fact that somebody in the Illinois legislature is holding this up. Who is that, Mark Gannis?
I don't care. I don't need anything from the state. I'm hearing it's Speaker Chris Welch. I don't know why he's doing it.
I don't know him at all. He may have very good reasons. It may not even be him. In the same quotes in which you're trying to eviscerate someone and blame them for why it's being held up. It may not be him. That's a direct quote. I've never met the man. My information may be completely wrong. What are we doing? My information may be all wrong. The truth is, I don't know. Like.

Chapter 2: Who is Mark Gannis and what insights does he provide?
All you're doing right now is setting yourself up to get possibly dunked on. I don't care. I don't need anything from the state. So Illinois State Representative Cam Buckner gave his time to Mully and Haw again this morning to respond to the idea that Chris Welch may or may not be the one holding this whole thing up.
Nothing can be further from the truth. I'm a little bit disappointed in Mark.
If you're not familiar with the term reading or getting read, that from Cam Buckner was a great read. Can you read? Man, when you hear somebody say they're disappointed in you, that means they had a different idea of who you were. The old, you're better than that. I'm not mad.
I'm disappointed.
We've all had a moment where someone that we respect speaks and tells you they're disappointed in you or your actions. And it hurts because it's like, ah, I respect your... I can't even pretend like you're out here hating on me. Yeah, I'd rather be hated. Yes. I'd rather be hated than disappoint someone. That means they had an expectation of you and you let them down.
No, I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed.
I am so freaking disappointed I could hit him in the face with a brick.
Happy Monday, everybody, as we welcome you in to Rahimi Harris and Grody on 104.3 The Score. What a day we have planned for you on a Monday. Along with Marshall Harris, I am Mark Grody. It is today. Huge day because today we bring back for another year the first round of Who's Your Guy at 11 o'clock this morning. Take note.
Take down the number 312-644-6767 is the number if you're new around here because, you know, we have FM fans now. That is where you literally call the score. Again, 3-1-2-6-44-67-67. And you tell us a player that you are interested in knowing more about in the draft. Who's your guy? Who's the guy that you want to know more about?

Chapter 3: What are the implications of Billy Donovan's coaching situation?
to be drafted. But that's going to be a blast. That's coming up at 11 o'clock this morning. While I'm talking about the Bears, I have been told that the following Chicago Bears will be speaking at Hallis Hall today. Caleb Williams will talk. Kobe Bryant will be front and center. Cole Komet, our guy here on 104.3 The Score, big FM guy, Cole Komet, will be at the lectern today.
Also gracing the grounds of Hallis Hall today and the microphone inside Hallis Hall will be one Garrett Bradbury. A little bit after... Very soon, actually. It's a little bit after 10 o'clock right now. That's right. That's when we do this show. So the Bears will be speaking soon. We will turn that around as quickly as possible.
And we'll also have Dan Wiederer, who is out at the hall today at 1 o'clock. As I told you, Russ Dorsey at 1225 as well. But what a weekend for the Chicago Cubs. They gave you, this is what I call a callback. of a five-game winning streak. I admit it. I'm a raging bull. I ride the roller coaster of baseball, and I am unapologetic about it. That's right. No hands, Ray, sitting in the front cart.
I am for it. It's not for everybody. Listen at your own risk. I understand all that, but this is a good part right now. The roller coaster is good. I got right to the front of the line, had my fast pass. I'm buckled in. I'm taking two or three rides on it after a sweep by the Cubs and a five-game winning streak. Inside these games, there were all sorts of good things from players, from managers.
Friday, an absolute blowout of the Mets, 12-4. I thought Edward Cabrera could have been a little bit better that day, but that's another thing.
Well, he's your ace, Mark.
He's got to be better. I have a higher expectation of Edward Cabrera. He goes six innings, allowed three runs and eight hits, struck out four, walked a couple. Still, that .238 ERA does not go out of style. I do want more from Edward Cabrera. I just have high standards for him. Mo Baller hit a three-run homer in that game. A nice 4-2 win over the Mets on Saturday starring Carson Kelly.
And then yesterday, the Cubs 2-1 win over the Mets. Nico Horner, the game-winning sack fly in the 10th inning off of Craig Kimbrell. Hello, Craig Kimbrell. Are you a Cub or are you a White Sox? So it all looked pretty good to me, Marshall. Did it look good through your eyes, too? And are you riding that roller coaster with us? I forget. I don't need to ride the roller coaster.
I know how the coaster goes. I know how it's going to end. Oh, you do? Yeah. Tell us. Cubs are going to be in the playoffs. It's fine. Hold on a second. So the Cubs, are they going to win the division? I didn't say all that. Oh, you don't want to do that trick.

Chapter 4: How does the team plan for the upcoming NFL Draft?
My sky was not falling. Don't worry, Grody. My sky was falling, too.
Yeah, that's right. Again, I'm not on that same roller coaster that you're on. That's my point. I understand you lose series over the course of a 162-game season. You're the guy riding the Whizzer. You guys know what the Whizzer is? It's one of the first roller coasters at Great America in Libertyville. It's just a very slow, safe roller coaster.
Oh, no. I like a good thrill.
It's a little herky-jerky, but it doesn't have any loops or corkscrews like the Demon and like Raging Bull. Nice and safe. I like the loops and the corkscrews, and I don't mind riding that. I'm just saying I'm riding the roller coaster in a very different manner. I'm on the same ride as you, Grody, but my hands aren't up in the front seat. Is that okay? No, that's okay.
Actually, I don't think we all need to be. You are our cooler, and I mean that in a good way. I am not here ripping you because I admit that I need people in my life around me that are not riding the roller coaster. Outside of the car.
cubs i'm here to tell you what a grody just said is absolutely true and i'm happy to be one of those people as part of your support system in life just in life just getting you through the highs and the lows and saying hey if you don't have that low you won't appreciate the high as much oh man that is so true um i do have a question for you let me build up to because one of the stars of this series was and there there are a lot and we'll talk about it throughout the day we get some good five-minute questions
pertaining to the Cubs and who your MVP was and all of that. But it's nice to be able to give credit to the manager, Craig Council. And I say that because it's very easy to, just in general, rip the coach in whatever sport it is. And the manager is fun to question, fun to question lineups, fun to question a guy who's making $8 million a year and perceive mistakes that he's made through the years.
And we are Quick to point those out. It's what we do, and we'll continue to do that. But this was a really good series for Craig Council. There were things that you could see him do throughout the series that were just good managerial moves, such as... Well, even I'll just go from yesterday. Small thing, but Ian Happ in that sixth inning...
hits the gets the single to get on and what does Craig Council immediately do he brings in Scott Kingery to pinch it because he knows that Ian Happ's foot has been hurting a little bit then old Michael Conforto comes up boom double the game is tied uh clearing the way for the Dramatics for the Cubs in the I guess that was in the ninth inning I'm sorry I'm getting my days conflated.

Chapter 5: What insights do the hosts share about NBA officiating?
And then they go, and they let you know in a very succinct manner what has happened, sometimes a little flair, sometimes just straight up. They all have their different ways of doing things, and I appreciate an NBA official on a call that is confirmed or a call that stands or a call that is overturned.
Yeah, I mean, they really get that zeroed in like shot, you know, that's more they NBA referees. NBA officials are more like a TV show host than any of the other officials. Yes, you're getting zeroed in on, but you got this wide shot like for the NBA guys. It's like you're looking right.
They're looking right at you when they're explaining those, you know.
rulings you guys saw the the walt weiss tackle right and the whole melee did i was wondering did did i i don't know if i know if an umpire came on much like an nba official would after and explain like these are the players who are called out usually it's just like they just point and go and there's no real as you said sort it out the next day or whatever i wonder if they're doing that now in mlb that's my next question that's the next logical step right i needed to be bill miller reynolds
Ronaldo Lopez hit Jorge Soler in the face with a baseball. He got him pretty good. There was one return hit that didn't necessarily land, but he got him in the hole. Walt Weiss took him down. Can you imagine if we had that after the Tim Anderson knockout? Oh, my God. Down goes Anderson. Down goes. Anderson got knocked DF out. His teammates have taken him off the field.
He's no longer in the game for fighting. Also, Jose Ramirez, right, delivering the blow, the knockout blow. He is also out of the game for fighting. That's pretty amazing, too.
That'd be amazing.
All right, let's do categories. White Sox players that have gotten beaten up. Robin Ventura. That's it. Like Nolan Ryan. Or as I call him, Baby Boy, because the scene from Baby Boy with the headlock. Oh, yeah.

Chapter 6: How did the Cubs perform in their series against the Mets?
That's what it looked like with Nolan Ryan at him. When you get the headlock on, you're like, oh, no. No. Robin Ventura about to get his ass kicked. Grown man strength. Grown man strength. Adam Dunn strength right there. Adam Dunn style. After that, that's when Nolan Ryan, despite all the no-hitters, that's when he became a legend in my mind. Right. Yeah, don't mess with Nolan, unfortunately.
Fortunately for the rest of Major League Baseball, Robin Ventura was the test subject. I was like, I'm not even going to look at that guy if he comes high and tight on me. Coming up next on Rahimi Harrison-Grody is five on it, our five favorite questions of the day. Next on The Score.
Chapter 7: What are the key takeaways from the recent Cubs and White Sox games?
It's time for Five On It. Rahimi Harrison-Roney. Bring you five topics on their minds today.
On 104.3 The Score. I got five on it.
Number one. Five On It is brought to you by AlmostFreeTeeth.com. Save on dental implants today. Here's question number one. Who is the MVP of the Cubs' series sweep against the Mets?
Man, there are a lot of candidates that one could probably pick when you look at this three-game sweep over the Mets for the Chicago Cubs. I guess I will go hipster and go a little bit with the less obvious. I'm going to go with Jamison Tyone because of what he did on Saturday. And it is those guys.
It is the Jamison Tyones of the world, the Colin Rays of the world, the Javier Saads of the world. Anybody that is starting right now for the Cubs need you badly because of all the injuries. There are 10 Cubs pitchers from the 40-man roster that are on the injury list, and we don't need to go through the litany of them.
So it just becomes of premium importance that these guys succeed when they get their turns. In that Saturday game, that's the Carson Kelly day, his home run. He could be a candidate for MVP of the series, but he comes forward to win. Jamison Tyone goes six innings, allowed one run on five hits, struck out four, did walk three, got up two. Craig got him to 100 pitches. That's what he needed.
He needed six innings. He needed him to max out, and he did. And Tyone early in the game, you get nervous about him early, gives up a couple of hits in the first. In the second, he did allow the home run to Mark Vientos. He does like his solo home runs. We all know about that.
But then in the third inning, he faces the minimum and then kind of cruised after that and fought through some early stuff to keep the Cubs in a position to win, and he looked good. So I am going with... the hipster answer of Jamison Tyone as my MVP for the Cubs series. I mean, I think you got the right position and picture. I just think you went a little too early with who you selected.
It's got to be Caleb Philbar.

Chapter 8: What is the significance of Darnell Wright's fifth-year option for the Bears?
Caleb Philbar comes into a couple of games. Remember, the Cubs were laughing their way through the week at one point after that suffering, that loss on Monday in which Javier Saad gave up the world. To see Caleb Philbar on the day they put... someone on the injured list, come out and be like, okay, I guess I'm the guy.
In back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday, first he gets the save, his first of the season. Then he gets the win on Sunday, pitching out of a situation which is designed for runs to score. When you start with a runner on second and nobody out, it's designed for runs to score.
The automatic runner, the Manfred man, if you will, he gets stranded on third base because Thielbar is able to fight his way through it. You wondered on Friday, right after the show, well, Daniel Palencia, who's going to fill the role? This man came in and did the job of Daniel Palencia and looked good doing it.
And I think that's what makes him the MVP of a series in which you get your first sweep of the season. Honorable mention. Mentioned really quickly before we go to the next question, we've got to mention Nico Horner, another terrific series. Friday, the two were on Homer. He hit the game-winning sack fly in the 10th off of Craigers. Craig Kimbrell, so that was pretty good.
Michael Conforto, got to give it up to this guy. He's had a couple of big hits this year. I don't know if Conforto was with the Cubs at the end of the season. I have no idea. But he did have that game-tying double in the ninth inning. And then we mentioned it earlier, Craig Council making all the right moves and managing his ass off lately because he has to.
Number two. The Cubs conversation continues this afternoon when president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer joins Spiegel and Holmes at 3 p.m. right here on 104.3 The Score. Now here's question number two. On a scale of 1 to 10 on the confidence meter, trademark, how much belief do you have in Cubs closer Caleb Theobar and White Sox closer Sir Anthony Dominguez?
Now that another weekend is in the books, we are looking for a respective score for each closer.
All right, I'm going to start with the White Sox and start with Serenity Dominguez. It's a four out of ten. And it might be lower than that, but they did win the series. He did get a save, okay? But when we talk about shaky performances and wondering what's going to happen next, Sir Anthony Dominguez is at the top of my concern list.
Because, again, the starting pitching has been good for the White Sox since that very first turn through the rotation. But my goodness, Sir Anthony Dominguez was brought here for a reason. He was brought here so that in those games in which the White Sox have scored enough runs in the second half of last year to be competitive, he could nail it down. He has not nailed it down, to be frank.
