Chapter 1: What humorous disclaimers do the hosts share at the beginning?
The views and opinions of Layla Rahimi, Marshall Harris, and Mark Grody should not be taken too seriously.
Especially when they give advice. Do not take Marshall's analogies literally. Especially when it comes to Russell Dorsey. The sports thoughts of Rahimi, Harris, and Grody may change at any time. It's just sports.
Okay, thanks, bye. Rahimi Harrison-Grody, 10-2 on 104.3 The Score. I'm going to be doing some scouting tonight in northwest Indiana, actually.
You're going to Indiana? Site scouting? Just checking out some properties, seeing what's out there. You're going to Hammond? Do you like it?
hammond cool i mean i never heard anybody say i'm going to hammond on vacation don't think that i might not stop and do a little sightseeing i'm gonna bring my binoculars i'm gonna bring a little soil sampler with me are you gonna take your hazmat suit bring a box of uh a big jug of chlorine just to clean it up a little bit but no hazmat suit we're not going that far i don't know are we going that far you tell me are you going to interview the slag heap
Yes, the slag. Exclusive one-on-one interview with the slag heap. We're sitting on the slag heap of life. It was a bloody good thing to another time of day.
I'm a slag heap. That's how a slag heap would talk, maybe.
There'd be more grumble in the voice.
I imagine like a Sesame Street character. Like a Sesame Street character. Like Oscar the Grouch could live underneath a slag heap.

Chapter 2: What scouting activities does Leila mention in Indiana?
There was a big clay character. He was made of clay.
And I can't remember. He was a character in a weird TV show, probably in the 70s or 80s. Big clay figure. He had a weird voice. He looks like a slag heap.
The textures aren't stopping now. It's the Giggle Snort Hotel. His name is either Glob or Blob, but I know for a fact that his voice is what I would expect a slag heap to sound like.
It's always nice to come over when you're in town, see old Blob, nice big smile, dimples teeth, yeah. Blob, we're sort of into balloons today. A lot of people like balloons. You like balloons? Yeah, good, good, good, good.
Layla Rahimi, Marshall Harris, Mark Grody. Middays, 10 a.m. to 2 on Chicago Sports Radio 104.3 The Score.
Ah, yes. Slag heap talk. There will be more of that and the like at 1245 on this show. This is Rahimi Harrison-Grody on 104.3 The Score. It is Marshall Harris and Layla Rahimi in with you today on this Tuesday. And we begin by talking about a team that is starting to make me baseball happy and frustrated at the same time as the Bears have done in this calendar. Well, this past calendar year.
And then also the Cubs have done. Your Chicago White Sox. The good news is they got a game against the Guardians. The bad news is it was kind of a circuitous path. The good news is they are tied for first in Central at 40-37. And the bad news is they lost 6-5 because they allowed two runs in the ninth. But the good news is they won the game. Got all that? Yada, yada, yada. Here we are today.
Man, all that matters is at the end of the game, Sam Antonacci was celebrating. Sam Antonacci reminding you that he is not only one of the best rookies in baseball this year, not one of the best stories in baseball this year, but he's that dude. He is the quintessential baseball player. Whatever you need Sam Antonacci to do, Sam Antonacci will get done.
The man was two for four with three runs driven in. The most important, of course, the walk-off single. Two run variety to end the game that had to be reviewed. We're going to review it all because that's that's the way it goes these days in baseball. And I love that Sam Antonacci was front and center in the grindiest of wins because he is the grindiest of players.

Chapter 3: How do the hosts analyze the White Sox's recent game performance?
I think the bigger picture is, though, is... You see the White Sox building this foundation. You see them working on these things. And then you just have an absolute clunker of a series. After just the wild momentum of being able to take on the Dodgers and take on the Braves. And then it's like...
But those games were at home. That's what we're seeing.
But still, though, you'd think that the scuffling Tigers who are trying to get right would not have the same fate against the White Sox, even if it is the home doesn't always make the difference there. You know, you'd think the Sox would have overridden that at the time, but it was a sweep at a bad time. The best thing you can do is come back and try to win the damn ball game.
And they did many times. And many times they tried to lose it. But ultimately they came back and they ultimately won the game. And I think that that is, we look back at this a month from now and say they won the game. You know, details, us who were paid to watch the team and experts and the like, you look back at the details.
But when they all add up, you know, it's still the bottom line is you did the thing you were supposed to do. You came back home. You got the win against a division rival, no less, that you can never count out. They're buying time right now without Munutaka, Murakami in the lineup. I think it is big that they got Kyle Till back.
I know he had a bad game, but I think that's going to pay dividends going forward. I will say this. Can we give a shout out to Randall Gritchick? Yeah. Oh, yes. And in our Derrick Hill Memorial Pinch Hit Home Run Club. This guy's got three pinch hit home runs to lead baseball. Derrick isn't dead, by the way. This is just not on another team.
This is just an in-season acquisition by the White Sox, which has already paid off dearly because he has come in in several spots and come up with a big at bat. He's got an OPS of 858. He's hitting 264, and he's come up with big hits and big moments. And also, I loved what I saw from Braden Montgomery, another rookie, last night.
Two for three with two doubles, instrumental in helping the comeback go. And he also draws that big walk in the ninth inning, which sets up the fact that the White Sox are able to get two runs after, you know, giving up two runs in the top of the ninth. And, you know, to add to your, yeah, the ninth inning is obvious Sam Antonacci hustle.
There was always what happened in the seventh inning, too, which was the two-out broken bat RBI single.

Chapter 4: What insights do the hosts provide about the upcoming NBA Draft?
And, you know, it's funny because it gets described as, oh, somehow that gets past Reese Hoskins or, you know, it squeaks by. That's just what I expect now when I see him is that every little ounce of effort is going to go to details that, you know, if a catcher drops the ball and he's at the plate, he's going to run his ass off to first.
You know, he's going to do whatever he can to be able to get on base. And we see it happen yet again. That hit was like a magic trick because, of course, Reese Hoskins was having trouble with the ball because the bat was spinning after splintering. The head of the bat just out here up in the air. And how about that?
How about Cleveland, normally insanely solid defensive team, having issues with that, for example, or the infield is in and then the hitters take advantage or a relay throw got messed up last night? These are just not typical things, Marshall, that I think we're used to seeing out of a Cleveland team.
What I'm extra not used to seeing is the White Sox be able to take advantage of them offensively, which is what they did last night. You know what? I do want to invite the people, 312-644-6767, to weigh in, either via text or by phone call, because I do feel like this was a very conflicted game.
As you mentioned off the top, Layla, as we discussed the White Sox 6-5 walk-off win over the Cleveland Guardians, first meeting of the year. You got to win. That's bottom line stuff. But there's so many underlying problems that came with this win. Yeah. Dare I quote my guy, Mark Grody, is it sustainable? Well, let's listen to what Ozzie Guillen had to say because I was like, oh, yeah, they won.
That was great. And then Ozzie, the standard bearer for the White Sox and the ever-present manager on the postgame show had a different take.
Is this happening? Did that happen? Is this real? I feel like we lost the game, by the way. All right. Well, White Sox postgame live presented by Yingling Flight, next generation of light beer here with the mayor of Greatfield. I'm Chuck Garfine. You feel like they lost the game? Yeah. You can't celebrate this because of what happened before that?
No, no. Yes. No, we got to be honest. You know what I mean? The way they pitched in the last couple of innings, terrible. No strikes, no strikes, no strikes. They want to win. The bullpen got to get better. Yeah. Or White Sox have to do something better to get somebody to help. We all got the hands tied up right now. It's like whatever they bring, like, they don't do their job.
Then what else can the men can do? Because... Most of the managers get criticized about the move in the bullpen. Well, whatever it brings, if you guys do the job lately, they have been great. That's the most second guess. They say, well, Will, what you doing? That's what I got. Well, if they don't put that stuff together, first time I'm going to say this. Chris, I know you're watching the game.

Chapter 5: Who impressed the most in the White Sox's recent win?
See something, say something. Next.
Number one.
Who impressed you the most in the White Sox rollercoaster 6-5 win over the Guardians?
Okay, is it cliche to say Sam Antonacci? Is it because, again, can run out a broken bat, what looks like a ground ball out, and he turns it into a hit? And he was part of the whole reason. Well, the Guardians had to challenge the whole thing. Cleveland is challenging the whole thing. He had the game-winning hit. He got the walk-off celebration.
Guy got the very cold Powerade, Gatorade, whatever it may have been. It's Sam Antonacci for me because he was ultimately the one who helped decide the game winner. So I love Sam Antonacci and he was impressive. But I don't think he was as impressive as Anthony Kaye in this game.
Because setting the table for them to be able to come back and win was all about Kaye getting out of the first inning jam, bases loaded, one out. He strikes out the next two batters.

Chapter 6: What are the implications of Sir Anthony Dominguez's performance?
And then he proceeds to only give up three hits over six scoreless innings. And he strikes out eight. That ties a career high in what's probably the biggest start of his career. If we're keeping it a buck. You know, that's not a bad point. And so him going out there and throwing six shutout frames, I can't overlook that.
And I think it was more impressive because you know why the Sam Antonacci didn't make it to the top of my leaderboard? It's not that I'm not impressed. It's just I expect Sam Antonacci to do such things. Wow, we've gotten to that point. Sam Antonacci is one of the best rookies in all of baseball. He's one of the best players on this team. Sam Antonacci will throw life and limb everywhere.
in the way of a baseball coming at him at 100 miles per hour if it helps get him on base and it helps the team have a chance to win. You know what? Sam Bantinacci wasn't even as impressive as Braden Montgomery in this game because Braden Montgomery is a whole, I just got called up lately, rookie. Yeah, two doubles. You know how I feel about doubles.
I think they're more indicative of your hitting than home runs at times. He's now got a modest three-game hitting streak in which he's actually got five hits and ten at-bats, three of them the aforementioned double that you speak of, Layla, and he scored three runs. And if he's not drawing walks or hitting doubles, the White Sox also don't win this game.
Again, Sammy Antonacci, once he was at the plate in that situation, second and third, I was like, oh, ballgame. There was a lot to, I mean, from a hitting standpoint, I just felt like there was a lot to like about this game. Tristan Peters with that double to lead off the ninth, too.
He's been so good.
He's strong.
Number two.

Chapter 7: How does the Cubs' pitching situation affect their season?
This hour is brought to you by Vasectomy Clinics of Chicago. Here's question number two. Is it finally time for the White Sox to end the Sir Anthony Dominguez closer experiment?
In case you missed it, friends, we talked about that at 1025 in depth. And then we went into all of our possible bullpen solution scenarios. But I bring up the full screen graphic that our friends at CHSN had last night where entering the evening before the blown save his fifth of the year.
Sir Anthony Dominguez's ERA in non-save situations, of which he had 12, was 077, compared to his 18 save situations, which is a 606 ERA. This, my friends, is what we call an accurate sampled match and statistically significant. That alone would indicate that perhaps he does not need to be throwing the ninth. The better question is, would he be...
as productive in his non-save outings in a 7th, 8th situation? Would he be better? I think the 8th may be the place you want to back him up even further into a game. The best time to take Sir Anthony Dominguez out of the closer's role was two days ago. The second best time to take Sir Anthony Dominguez out of the closer's role was yesterday.
The third best time to take Sir Anthony Dominguez out of the Closers role is today. Let's just get that over with. He should no longer be closing games for the Chicago White Sox. And the fact that this is even a question, I'm almost like, what? It's been past time, is my point. Sir Anthony Dominguez as a closer does not work for me. It does not work for my baseball team.
It does not work for my city. Sir Anthony Dominguez can have another role on this team in middle relief. You don't like green eggs and ham. I don't.

Chapter 8: What are the latest developments in the Bears' stadium search?
But my name's not even Sam I am. But if it was, it'd be Sam I am going to change my last name to Antonacci. Sam I Antonacci. Wow. Exactly. We've done some stretching here on Rahimi Harris and Grody today.
Stretch.
Live on it.
Number three. Five on it on 104.3 The Score with Leila Rahimi and Marshall Harris.
Here's question number three. Cubs left-hander Justin Steele resumed a throwing program on Monday after undergoing UCL revision surgery last May and then encountering a setback in late April when he was diagnosed with a flexor strain.
President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer joined Mullion Hall this morning and discussed Steele's status.
What is reasonable in terms of an expectation that he contributes this season?
what we really want is positive news that he's healthy and that he can work his way back and I think that's kind of where we are. Whether or not he can help us at the end of the season or not I think is unclear. I think it's probably unrealistic to think that he's going to be fully stretched out at any point so if he does help us I think it's going to be a shorter burst but
Now, looking at Justin's career and then obviously looking at next year, I think we really want the really good version of Justin Steele. I think that's something that we need to avoid that we feel as a team, for sure. It's been a long time since we had him on the mound, and so ending any positive news is great, but I think expecting...
