Who is Herb Howard and why is he joining the Bears stadium discussion?
Bears beat reporter for the bigs. Herb Howard is joining us. Herb Howard is here from the bigs. Herb joins us in studio right now. And, and Marshall, he smells great. And that to me, that is bonus points. Herb immediately showed he was going to be somebody asking meaningful questions. He's going to ask a question that everyone else in the room is going to want to know the answer
to. Have you ever had a fight? Had a fight? Have you ever had one? Yes. Yes, I have.
Well, thank you so much, Herb, for joining us. This has been a lot of fun.
It's always fun with you guys. You are absolutely amazing. I listen to you guys when you don't invite me, so it's really,
really cool. We'll see you in here tomorrow, buddy. Oh, yeah. In here, live, in studio. Can't wait.
Yeah. Oh, I'm looking forward
to it. Brody can talk about how good you smell. That's what he's obsessed
with. I'll make sure I'm ready for you, Brody. With Rahimi Harrison
Brody. Get a toke of this guy. He smells great.
What does the latest Bears stadium update say about the Lost Marsh and Wolf Lake sites?
I'm telling you. On 104.3 The Score. The Score.
He smells great. He has a nose for news. He is Herb Howard. He is at Herb Howard 411 on Twitter. The Bears reporter for the Bigs Media. Follow the Bigs Media on YouTube for the latest from Herb. And he joins us on our hotline, which we're happy to have him on. Is he on Twitch as well, guys? He's on Twitch. Twitch.tv slash The Score Chicago. Live from Hallis Hall. Hey, Herb. How are you?
Layla, I'm good. I see you are back in the studio. I'm going to just assume that's not because I'm not there. I said that the last time I was there because that's a couple times, Layla. I feel like you've been ducking me. I don't know.
No, I have not. I've been working Chicago Sky Games. So she
says.
Yes.
No, I know she's been
busy. She's all over
the place. But I feel ducked.
No, never purposeful. But sometimes it just takes more time to fill out the show prep for that stuff. It takes a while. I'm not as quick with it. I just am not.
It's
a busy
day up here.
Yeah, what'd you think, Herb? Let's start with your thoughts on the stadium stuff and what it feels like. We're kind of treading water still with the stadium, whether it's Indiana or Illinois. And I get it. George is saying that the talks about Illinois are minimal at this point.
Why are the Bears still “treading water” on the Indiana stadium plans?
But your reaction freshly out of that press conference?
Yeah, Brody, I think, you know, treading water is the correct phrase. It doesn't feel like there's anything different going on. They told us that they had pivoted to the Indiana site some time ago. They have now started to do their due diligence on a second site out in northwest Indiana. And so they said that could take a little bit more time. They do say that the first site is viable. So I think it may have been Adam Hogue maybe or Dan Weider to ask them this question. due diligence on the second site. Does that mean that the first site isn't viable? They said, no, that first site is viable, but we found out there's another one that could be as, or perhaps more viable. So they're looking into another site and there's also some potential to combine the two sites.
So we we'll, we'll find out what goes on with that. But in terms of, you know, anything with Illinois, what we continue to hear today from Kevin Warren and, and George McCaskill was that the sole focus is on Indiana. Uh, Kevin Warren did say they're still taking some occasional meetings and phone calls. with Illinois. He says he has not himself been in all of those because their focus remains on Indiana. He refused to comment, Kevin Warren refused to comment on Governor Pritzker's comments today that said, you know, Arlington Heights and Chicago even could still be potential sites for the new stadium. And Kevin Warren simply said, listen, I can't comment on any hypotheticals. We don't have any deal or proposal or legislation on the table with the state of Illinois.
So that's hypothetical and I can't speak to it. He was also asked about you know what mistakes they had they may have made in the process of kind of dealing with politics in illinois and he said there's no mistakes he called them learning experiences in every step of the way and we heard that echo by george mccaskey once he took the podium to say listen we've learned a lot we wouldn't necessarily we don't necessarily regret anything that we've done but you know we we've learned a lot in each of our decisions and dealings with the state of illinois
