James, how are you, sir? uh concerned about how many times i've used the word hot while introducing me but other than that i figured you'd like that you know i mean it's a good adjective it worked you can use it you can interpret it that however you want uh just uh worried about living up to the billing i know you can james what did this series winning two out of three over the los angeles dodgers what did it mean for the white sox
I mean, I think this entire stretch of schedule, especially without Murakami, was viewed as... attest or certainly even you know before going into it maybe something that sinks them a little bit or adds some reality to to what they're um capable of doing this year so to not only tread water but to thrive uh through it uh thus far um you know obviously still another really difficult series coming up in new york and they haven't been as good on the road i think it's just kind of solidified the idea of like what we're looking at with this team going forward which is They are going to be, one, it's clearly the best offense in the division. And because of that, I think you have to look at them as contending for the division or certainly a wildcard spot going forward.
So as much as them having to get through kind of a glorified bullpen game on Sunday, maybe hits home that starting pitching is something they have to hunt at the deadline. We're talking about the White Sox having to hunt at the trade deadline. And I think that's just kind of been... reaffirmed and validated over the course of taking two from the Braves and taking two out of three from the Dodgers and really just kind of not They haven't run into as much as we've expected at some point during the year, this hit their head on the ceiling where they can't really hang and they have some reality dealt to them. They're not a perfect team. They're not a team without flaws. They're probably yet to prove that they're a team that's maybe seriously a World Series contender in any stripe.
But the idea that they are a team that's winning this year and needs to act like it, even if they're a year early, I think that's been reaffirmed over the last week and over the last six weeks.
Yeah, James, I think we have gotten some clarity because when you look at what's happening with the other teams, because they don't play in a vacuum, right? They're playing two of the best teams in baseball, if not the two best teams in baseball, and coming up with winning series against both of them. Looking around the American League, it's gone from, hey, maybe this team could cause some problems down the stretch and be a playoff team to, I believe that the AL Central is theirs to win now. Specifically because of what happened with Jose Ramirez over the weekend, breaking his hemate bone. It is a wide open door to rush through. And you brought up Munataka Murakami. But the fact that the offense has not slowed down without him tells me that it's going to be, hey, can you just keep this up for a couple more weeks?
