Bears, guys, we got a lot to talk about here. And it is, it was, it is an absolutely packed house at Hallis Hall, as it always is. But there's always a little extra after winning seasons for the Bears. You win 11 games. It was literally standing only in the media room today. And you had all the dignitaries in there as well. Kevin Warren was there taking in all the proceedings. There were multiple McCaskies. Pat and Brian McCaskey were in there. I did not see George McCaskey. Maybe he was in there hiding or sitting in the back. I should say he's not one to hide. But that was sort of the scene out here. I am right now in the atrium at Hallis Hall where a lot of us do our media work. But let's get right to it.
And I think that... If you were to circle a player who has been the poster child of the offseason program, it would probably be Kyler Gordon because of his notable absence. Having only played in the three games last year, we know that Ben Johnson has been sort of I don't know what the word is, critical of his absence. But let's listen to the latest on Kyler Gordon. First, from the general manager of the Bears, Ryan Poles, on exactly what's going on. And then you will hear some questions afterwards from us after he gives the facts.
Kyler Gordon on PUP with his calf. He was here all offseason training, getting right. We had a delay in that. all hands on deck to get him back. Coach alluded to it before in terms of his availability or the lack thereof. Obviously, he's frustrated. We're frustrated. We just want him back. He helps our football team. But we have to move forward with the guys that we have. And when he's ready to go, he'll be ready to go. Everybody here is putting all their time and effort to get him back right. That's where that's at.
You mentioned there's a frustration factor, obviously, on both sides with Kyler Gordon and you guys. Has he done everything that you guys have wanted him to do as far as rehabbing and getting better?
Yeah, like I said, I think he gave up a lot this break to stay here and put the time in. That's what he did. And again, a little bit of a repetitive situation that we got to get fixed. And then when he gets back, he's going to have to earn that trust back and that dependability. So We've got to put all the guys in a good position to be successful. The up and down, moving guys around is really tough. He'll have to earn that back when he gets back.
Gentlemen, Mark, Marshall, your thoughts. Mark, when you heard that, do you feel like Poles was holding off on some emotion there? Do you feel like it was pretty accurate sounding as you saw seeing it? What do you think?
I think that I think that's a good way to put it, Layla. I think he was holding back on a little bit of emotion because we know where this has all started. The urgency of this, the reason that we have raised our eyebrows, the reason that those are the first questions we're asking to Ryan Pulse is because of the way Ben Johnson has handled this all along, sort of cryptically, sort of with a critical tone. Sort of with a, come on, man, like if you're not healthy, you're not helping us. So I feel like, Layla, that they have gotten the message across more, especially relative to last offseason as well. To where, okay, now it's reached that critical juncture.
