Everything is just great. A little toasty down here in Arizona, but outside of that, it's good. Not much humidity today. It's very pleasant at about 104, 105.
Well, I am, which is, and I'm sure you have a lovely pool and lots of cooling units and things like that to take care of yourself. And you're kind of lucky. Because what I've been saying about the White Sox right now, with all the Knicks madness going on in New York right now, they need to get the hell out of there. New York is no place to be right now, Steve Stone. So I'm glad that you have gotten to be in Arizona for all this. How have you looked at these two games for the White Sox in New York so far?
I looked at them as being two games. And the fact is, whether they lose 100-0 or 2-1, a loss is a loss. And so we knew going into four series in a row, starting with Philadelphia in Philadelphia, then the Braves, then the Dodgers, then the Yankees, these 12 games would be some of the defining moments of the first half of this season. And it's going to turn out, if they win today, In the 11 games, because one was rained out against Atlanta, they win today, they go 6-5. They lose today, they go 5-6. But the quality of the teams they've been facing are really stout. The big advantage is that Cleveland is facing Milwaukee, and they've lost a couple to Milwaukee. So we haven't seen the Guardians yet, and we're going to see them a lot going forward.
We're going to see them seven times. in the period of the next couple of weeks, and Jose Ramirez is not in the lineup. So I kind of like our chances in those.
Yeah, Steve, to that point, before we talk more about the White Sox, just the overall picture of the American League Central has become quite interesting after Chase DeLotta was placed on the 10-day injured list because of a fractured rib on his right side, so he's out.
What are the White Sox's recent struggles against the Yankees?
And it's just a litany of injuries. Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, that is, undergoing surgery on Thursday, out five to seven weeks is what they're saying. How important is this next stretch of game, just the fact that you're going to see Cleveland twice over the span of two weeks?
Well, I like the Sox chances, and I think when you look at what's happened in New York, you realize that the Sox probably could use another starter. I think that would be a good plan, and we'll see what happens as we head to Detroit after today's game. But you're right about the parade route. The Sox are going to have to avoid that as they head to Yankee Stadium, but they'll be able to do that. I'm sure they're mapping out the route right now, and hopefully they can capture one in New York. The Yankees, even without Judge, have outstanding pitching. And we're not going to even face Schlittler in this series, and he's probably the best they have. So that's a team that undoubtedly is going to get into the playoffs, and maybe, maybe with some good performances, maybe a bit of luck, and all that goes with it, the Sox will be in the playoffs with them.
