Well, there's no doubt that when you take that kind of a lead in a game that um although it wasn't one of those um One of those games that was absolutely essential to win. It was certainly one that you'd like to have, especially When you have this series bracketed on one side by the Guardians, on the other side by the Tigers, who by the way find themselves just two and a half games out of first place these days.
Yeah, that's scary, man. I feel like people have a a healthy fear of the Tigers, maybe even different from from Cleveland. But the beautiful part about baseball, Steve, as you know, it happens just about every day. So there's another game tonight. White Sox and Reds, and specifically Luis Castillo. What do you want to see from Castillo other than not having to go up against the Boston Red Sox and maybe even before he got here, what is the scouting report on Luis Castillo of the five thirty ERA and what you wanna see from him, what you wanna see better from him in order to succeed with the White Sox, which obviously is imperative for this team.
Well, I certainly would like to see him go deep into the game because as we all know, when you play even with the off day on on Monday You play enough games in a row or in a short period of time and you are in the middle now of sixteen straight. You don't want to uh use too much of your bullpen uh too often and that's uh unfortunately what happens late in every season because you take a look at You can look at the appearances. Take a look around the forty five appearance mark for most everybody out of the bullpen and you'll realize that guys aren't quite as effective after that forty fifth appearance. as they are before that. And then hopefully the arms kind of uh regenerate and you're in good position when you when you get into the last twenty five, twenty twenty five games of the season because
Uh, as some very good managers have told me over the years, it's not the best bullpen that went.
How is Luis Castillo’s scouting report shaping his role in the Sox rotation?
It's the healthiest bullpen that wins. And it's the manager's job to make sure that it's healthy. And that goes down to starting pitching. I mean, Sean Burke was great going seven last night, leaving just six outs, unfortunately. For one of the few times the bullpen just didn't get it done. That pen that's that's been a whole lot better than a lot of people thought it would be. Just had one of those nights where uh things didn't work out very well. Hudson faced three men, gave up three hits. And before you knew it the game was tied, so uh There's a couple of things the Sox have to do. One of them is to deliver runs with a runner at third in less than two outs. That would be really nice. And uh make some contact when contact is needed.
