I love Dan Plesak's baseball thoughts always, but even this one was top-notch for Dan because he's just out here reminiscing about the Sox season so far.

That was really the biggest series of the year on the road in Cleveland. You had a lead in both games in the seventh and eighth inning. In games one and two. And to come back Saturday and Sunday and win both of those games, I thought was a huge statement. A statement for a young team that, you know, you're trying to find your way. You're trying to develop. You're trying to win. You're trying to do both. But you want to stay relevant in the central. And... Just from being around at the All-Star game, I had more players and colleagues that I work with saying, you know, I think you're on to something. This is a really good, exciting young team.

And if they win today, or they win tomorrow, or maybe both, So they're going to have made kind of a statement here as to, hey, don't talk about us like we can't win on the road anymore, because look at the recent evidence of that specifically, which is why they were kind of hanging around just a couple of games over 500, because they do really well at home and they do really poorly on the road.
Well, and it was cool the way he brought it up, too. And we play a shorter clip because this is broadcast and we got places to be. But Dan was saying to John during it, he was like, I was just thinking about this. And I think that was the turning point of the season. And the way he talked about just how he's trying to internalize and process the Sox season. I feel like for all of us, we all pointed to the same series, that Guardian series, knowing we had a specific goal in mind as to what was going to happen. I wanted to see a split, but he's right to see the split where you come back from being down 0-2 when the Guardians look dominant and you really did battle your way back to win those ballgames.
I could see why for him, longtime veteran as we know, man who's seen a lot of baseball as a broadcaster, why that point in time said to him, this White Sox team is more for real than I think.
When you say for real, I think it's such a relative thing because of the way the rest of the American League has played.
I mean, for real for me is like, oh, you're playoffs, playoffs now. Like you're in the mix for contention for playoffs.
Is it... when you say content, I'm just trying to make sure I'm on the same page with you because contention for playoffs versus contention for doing something. When you get there, do you feel like that's two different things?
Yeah, because of roster construction, yes. I think there are teams that you know look no further than the National League. There are teams who are made to make the playoffs, and then there are teams who are made to contend with the Dodgers.
