And before long, he's chatting with an actual hitman. And Allwine tells this hitman what he needs and that he needs an assassin to take out his wife. Then he sends this guy Amy's details, her photo, her address and her daily routine, everything the killer would need to find and identify her. And the guy, he says it'll be $6,000 in Bitcoin and he'll make it look like a car accident.
So Allwine pays the $6,000 in Bitcoin. Then at some point, the website operator of Basemafia messages Allwine and says, actually, the hitman got busted by police. And to finish the job, he now needs to hire a sniper, which will cost another $6,000 in Bitcoin. So $12,000 total. And so Allwine pays him the Bitcoin and the website operator's like, cool, we'll get right on it. So Allwine waits. And he waits. And he waits. And several months pass. But nothing happens to Amy. I mean, she's still walking around living her normal life. Because here's the thing. This Basemafia hitman website isn't actually a hitman website. It's actually a scam. There are no assassins. There are no murderers for hire. Just some scammer pretending to be a hitman so that they can steal money from gullible people.
And, you know, that sucks for all wine, but then it gets much worse for him. Because then, that same year, 2016, some hacker who tries to stay anonymous, he hacks and breaks into the Besa Mafia website. And this person gets access to a bunch of data, including a list of targets, people who other people want assassinated. And he publishes all of this info onto the open web, and he also hands it over to the FBI.
