Amy Tells Nathan he's Wrong on Membership Sites with Amy Schmittauer of SavvySexySocial.com
22 Jan 2016
Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is The Top, where I interview entrepreneurs who are number one or number two in their industry in terms of revenue or customer base. You'll learn how much revenue they're making, what their marketing funnel looks like, and how many customers they have. I'm now at $20,000 per top.
Chapter 2: What insights does Amy Schmittauer share about video blogging?
Five and six million. He is hell-bent on global domination. We just broke our 100,000-unit soul mark. And I'm your host, Nathan Latka. Okay, Top Tribe, this week's winner is Charlie Daggs, okay? He was a middle manager at a manufacturing company.
Chapter 3: How did Amy transition from consulting to a membership model?
He wants to break free and he won the $100 I give out every Monday. For your chance to win, simply subscribe to the podcast on iTunes right now and then text the word Nathan to 33444 to prove that you did it. Coming up tomorrow morning, guys, you hear from John Colgan, and I ask him flat out, I'm so pissed.
Chapter 4: What revenue did Amy generate from her membership site in October?
I say, John, can you help me sue Verizon? And I mean, big league. Good morning, Top Tribe. You're going to love our guest today. Her name is Amy Shmetawa. She's the founder of SavvySexySocial.com, a video blog empowering brands to embrace their amazing personality and share it with the freaking world.
She's leading the charge in video blogging for business, and Amy has grown a community of advocates who've helped the brand amass more than 2 million views, in turn growing her social business coaching and speaking career.
Chapter 5: What challenges does Amy face with member retention?
Amy, are you ready to take us to the top?
Let's do this thing.
Let's do this thing. Okay. First things first. You're like super young. How old are you?
I look 16, but much to your surprise, I'm 30 years old.
Chapter 6: How does Amy ensure her members take action?
What? Yeah.
What? Oh my gosh. I thought you were like my age. That's amazing. That's unbelievable.
Chapter 7: What strategies does Amy use for client acquisition?
Okay. Okay. Skincare, honey. Skincare, honey. I love that. Who do you use? Like, what is it?
Chapter 8: How does Amy define success for her membership site?
Oh, I'm like totally a Clinique girl.
Clinique girl. Well, holy mackerel. I can't believe this. This is great. I'm shocked. Let me just recompose myself. Okay, Amy, video blogging. Is this a fad or is it going to stick around?
Well, considering people ask me year over year, hey girl, oh my gosh, video is so hot right now. You're really onto something.
Okay.
I've been making YouTube videos since 2008. So it's sticking around and YouTube specifically is sticking around. I think we see a lot of competitors coming in, swinging, and some of them are still doing well, but they're all different. So yeah, it's not going anywhere.
So everyone's talking about you. I'm seeing you all over the place. I'm seeing you speaking. You're bringing your attitude, which I love. You're polarizing, which is great. Tell me how the heck you make money. What do you sell?
I usually sell product. But in the last year, I have really streamlined my offering to be membership only. Previously, I was a consultant. You know, that's how I got started in the industry. And I sold, you know, my time for dollars. And I just found that I was tired of being the business therapist.
And I wanted to
I only want to work with the businesses that prove they will execute and take my freaking advice. I was so tired of getting paid for people to not do what I told them would work. So when there were problems that would arise, I'd be like, yeah, well, you didn't do it. So there you go.
