Thousands of people paying him nine bucks a month for his fitness membership site. Top Tribe. Good morning to all of you. Our guest this morning is none other than Carissa Hill, who has been teaching Facebook marketing to small businesses and business owners for the last two years, bringing in between one and two K per day doing that.
Yet since the launch of Facebook Live, Carissa brought in over $105,000 in sales in just a week, again, using Facebook Live. So this is gonna be interesting. In total, she brought in $180,000 during the month of June here in 2016. Carissa, are you ready to take us to the top?
Yeah, let's go.
Awesome. Okay, so listen, here's what people are gonna be thinking. They'll be going, oh, Nathan is having like an info marketer on, like we're not gonna listen to this episode. Why the hell should people listen to what you have to say?
Right. So I guess what I do is a little bit differently. I've actually specialized in teaching people how to get sales and customers directly through Facebook because that's what I've been doing myself for the last 10 years or basically since Facebook existed. So I
I previously had a brick and mortar B2C business, which I booked out and grew from like a garage business into a chain of three stores set up to run without me, just kept it booked out with Facebook. People started asking me how to do that.

Chapter 2: How did Carissa Hill achieve $105k in sales using Facebook Live?
And then at the end, I said, also, I've got this ebook that I've written. That's 1995 US, which basically teaches how to implement all these things that I've just talked about. And I had about 20 people just go and buy it straight away. So that was the first point where I went, aha, okay, this is cool.
Okay. So 20 people paying 19 bucks, you said?
Yeah. So that was just like a little one, but then I realized I could do it with the, with the full course. So, yeah.
So, okay. So let's, let's dive into this because people are going, wait, how did she give a link to get people to go buy the ebook? Like, was she just talking her face or did she use PowerPoint sites? What are the answers to those questions?
Um, the first one was just my face and I actually had one of my friends, uh, post the link into the chat box where people were asking me questions. So they went and clicked on that, um, to buy it through Sam cart, which is the software that I've been using recently. Um, and then we replicated it again in another group with someone else as an affiliate.
Um, so I just talked to her list basically in her group, um,
Very cool. And how many people were in the first time you did this, that group?
That group, there was about a thousand people in there, but there wasn't that many people watching. We did have some extra sales trickle in over the next 24 hours from the replay as well.
How many people watched live?

Chapter 3: What strategies did Carissa use to grow her Facebook group?
as many as if they're they're already warmed up so I try and give free value quite frequently like every week in my group anyway so that then when I have something to sell they'll buy it and Krista I want to go study this is there a way that I can like get in what would I search on Facebook to find your group Yeah, it's called Coffee with Carissa.
Oh, I love that.
And I've designed it kind of to be like a virtual coffee shop. So the whole thing I've tried to make quite friendly rather than quite salesy.
Yep, 2,138 members. I'm going to join the group. And then what would I search in that group to find that recording of the Facebook Live video?
You would probably search grow your business with Facebook or business Facebook or something like that.
Okay, got it. Yeah, I want to look it up and watch it and then pull slides out and put it in the show notes so people can see it. So walk me through kind of a timeline. How many minutes of content and then how did you introduce the sales pitch and etc. ?
Yeah, so that one was about an hour. I did about 45 minutes of content and then did the pitch at the end and answered everybody's questions. I also, I always, always soften the pitch at the end. So I'll give it and then I'll change the subject type slightly or like joke about something so that it doesn't feel like a hard sell and then, you know, answer some questions and stuff.
And I find that always works best. even on sales calls on the phone.
And so do you put up a PowerPoint slide that says go to this link to buy?

Chapter 4: How does Carissa engage her audience during Facebook Live sessions?
Through the Facebook app on your phone.
Through the Facebook app or through Facebook mentions?
App.
Just the app. Interesting. Wait, let me do this because I want to make sure I get the answer from you if I can't find it. Podcasters hang out. I'm going into just a random group I'm in. Write something. Oh, there it is. Live video. Wow. Interesting. Now, if I open this on my phone, how do I how do I tie in OBS?
Well, OBS has to go through your computer.
Yeah. So how do you do that? You have to have admin rights in the group.
Oh, I'm not sure. I haven't done OBS in someone else's group. I've only done that in my group.
Interesting. And the way you do it in your group is through your computer, right?
yeah and connecting obs interesting so so i need i'm sure there's a way to do into other people's groups using obs because that's critical if you want to get webinar slides and do demos on screen and such but carissa hey listen this is fantastic people are going to learn a lot from this i think it's going to encourage people to be okay asking for the sale and their groups they've curated or their facebook pages so thank you for giving us permission to do that you're doing it if people want to connect with you online and follow your work where can they do that

Chapter 5: What conversion rates did Carissa achieve from her Facebook Live sales?
So last question. Take us back 10 years, Carissa. What do you wish your 20 year old self knew?
I thought about this and I would tell myself, get more entrepreneurial friends, not more friends that want to go out and spend all their money on booze every weekend.
I'd say what? Entrepreneurial friends can throw down a bar tab. Let me tell you, though.
Oh, yeah. But there's more interesting conversation.
Yes, totally. It's less about talking about, you know, guys you find attractive and more about. Yeah, exactly. Business growth, right? Yep. Well, top tribe there. You got it from Carissa Hill. Surround yourself with more entrepreneurial friends. She did a hundred K in 2015 on our info products.
Now she's using Facebook live to generate over a hundred grand in sales, specifically 70 of her 15 to a hundred dollar Facebook marketing course just two weeks ago. It's unbelievable. Carissa, thank you for taking us to the top.
Thanks, Nathan.
