Oh, I couldn't be more ready. All right. Let's do this, man. So first things first, how old are you today? And when did you start Ignite Visibility?
Yeah, good question. So I'm 33. I started Ignite Visibility when I was 30 years old. I had been in the industry already for about a decade, director role after director role at different agencies.
Chapter 8: What online tools does John use to manage his agency?
So I did earn my stripes, but I've been at Ignite Visibility for three years now. Tell me about the day you decided to, first off, where were you working before Ignite?
So I was at another agency before. Which one? Which one? It was called SEO Inc. And they're actually a large search engine optimization company. So learned a lot there. Actually, I was a director there for three years, over 100 clients. And, you know, but just at some point, I really knew that I wanted to do my own thing. And that's why I ended up making the jump.
Got it. And help us people understand, because there's a lot of people listening right now that are in a corporate job, like what you were doing, a big company. And they never make the jump, John, because they have a really safe salary. What salary did you give up before you started your own business?
It was a big number. It was over $100,000. So I was making... really good money. I was in a good place. I was in a role that I liked to some degree, but I knew that I could deliver a better product. And I knew that I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and be out on my own. And I'll tell you, although that was a good role.
And although it was literally the scariest thing I've done in my life, I've done a lot of stuff, but it was the scariest thing. It was the best.
Are you single by the way, or did you have a wife and kids and
No, no, no. So I'm married. You know, I did get married and have the kids after leaving that company. So in the last three years, I've gotten married. I've had two kids. I've got a one year old and I've got a six week old. And but you know what? That's just how, you know, I like to do things. I really like to just, you know, I have fun with life.
And, you know, so that's a bit of my personality for you.
Okay, so you get out of the business, you launch Ignite Visibility. Is Ignite Visibility a company that takes a lot of money to get started? How much did you invest before you got your first client?
