Chapter 6: How does Chris plan to pivot Call Loop's business model?
But Chris, are you ready to take us to the top?
i'm ready nathan let's do this so we've known each other obviously for a while you just introduced a new little one to the world about 25 days ago so i'm impressed that you're still doing podcast interviews and that you have enough energy to do anything except change diapers so thanks for coming on yeah my wife does all the work so it's easy awesome okay so tell us more about uh call loop what is it and how do you make money
Yeah. So call loop is a voice and text message platform. So if you were to think about it, it's like MailChimp for mobile messaging or a Webber for mobile messaging.
Chapter 7: What lessons has Chris learned about equity and partnerships?
So we're a platform that allows businesses to send text messages and voice messages to contacts, customers, prospects, that sort of stuff.
Okay. Yep. And what year? So give us some more context.
Chapter 8: What advice does Chris have for young entrepreneurs?
What year was the business founded in? Yeah.
So we originally had the idea. in 2009 and partner in probably 2010 we soft launch the product in mid 2011 and today's in 2016 so a couple years so let me just ask you what why why this take three years to get going were you juggling other things or what yeah it wasn't My co-founder was the developer. So, you know, we kind of partnered and said, Hey, let's build this app.
And in mind, I've never really built software before. So, you know, what, what everyone is doing now is, you know, going full force and all that sort of stuff. So did he build the whole product just because of the equity he got, or did you guys pay him cash?
So we did an equity deal and he, you know, he had a full time salary. So we brought him in. We brought another developer and gave him a piece of the equity as well. And so, yeah, it was just that both of us equity, you know, we put in some money just to kind of, you know, how much is. Oh, boy. Ten grand. Got it.
Yeah.
And so what what does the cap table look like today? Is the co-founder still with you guys or is it all you're the only one that has equity or what?
Yeah. So I bought out my business partners last year in 2015. Yeah. Yeah. 2015. So end up buying those guys out. They were kind of silent, I would say, for maybe a year and a half, two years. So for them, it was, you know, it was a nice a nice payday for those guys. to exit the company. They just weren't hands-on. And so, yeah, so it's myself and two investors. So two previous investors from
