Chapter 7: What advice does Ash give for writing an authentic book?

152.01 - 163.637 Nathan Latka

This is going to be a lot of fun. First things first, you are doing so much. So we've got to get right to the focus. And what the Top Tribe is most interested in is what are you selling and how are you making money? What's your main thing right now?

0

Chapter 8: How can entrepreneurs effectively utilize their email lists?

163.617 - 178.757 Ash Kumar

Yeah, my main thing is, I'm basically doing a lot of self branding related initiatives. So one of the things that I'm doing is I'm actually constantly developing books, whether I'm writing or co developing, and I am doing various speaking engagements.

0

178.737 - 187.628 Nathan Latka

Got it. So let's talk first about kind of self-branding in general. You mentioned you're doing trade crafts. Is that is that a side thing for now or no?

0

188.149 - 206.112 Ash Kumar

No, trade craft is my main business. But the reason why I bring up self-branding, just to be brief, is because the more I do with self-branding, the more indirect business comes to my actual businesses that involve, you know, that are corporations that involve not just me, but my team and whatnot.

0

206.092 - 213.961 Nathan Latka

Got it. OK, so let's talk about the self-branding side of things. I mean, are you I assume you have expenses you're living. How are you supporting yourself? Where are you actually generating revenue right now?

0

214.281 - 228.256 Ash Kumar

Yeah. Yeah. So while I'm building Tradecraft, which is my newest venture, I'm doing various speaking engagements and then I have book sales. OK, so what's cool about the book sales is that it's like money while you sleep 24 seven.

228.476 - 231.88 Nathan Latka

Hey, Ash, let's focus on that. What's your most successful book? What's the title?

231.995 - 235.301 Ash Kumar

Confessions from an Entrepreneur Volume 1. I sold over 150,000 copies.

235.701 - 245.118 Nathan Latka

Okay, great. So break us down. First off, what year did you publish this in? I published it in 2012. Okay, 2012. And help us understand, did you self-publish this or what?

245.699 - 266.132 Ash Kumar

Yeah, I actually worked with a small publisher and my net on each book sale was anywhere from $2 to $3 per book. So what is that in terms of the royalty percentage? Um, so I made, you know, off the royalty, I would say, you know, two to three bucks and the book was going for 14 bucks. So I'd say that's almost 10%.
