89.249 - 110.751 Nathan Latka

At the age of 25, he transformed himself from a street corner flower vendor into one of the nation's top securities day traders in just 12 months. His success was recounted in books, magazines, and dozens of newspapers across the country. Today, as mentioned, Landon O'Reilly is the founder and CEO of Entreport, a 10-year-old company.

110.731 - 129.4 Nathan Latka

After beating the odds on Wall Street and again during the recession, Ray's taken his exhaustive research and personal experience and created a family of products and related services that reflect his passion for educating and supporting entrepreneurs. Landon, are you ready to take us to the top? Yes, let's go there. Let's do this. It'll be fun. So first, hold on real quick.

129.501 - 137.413 Nathan Latka

I didn't know this about you. Flowers on street corners. What was the one sentence you could use that got the highest close rate selling the tulip?

0

137.984 - 154.672 Landon Ray

Oh, man. I don't think it was so much like that. And honestly, the street corner thing is a little bit of creative liberty. It was actually at farmer's markets. And you know what? They just kind of came to me. Flowers sell themselves. It's one of those things.

155.052 - 161.924 Nathan Latka

Very cool. I mean, were you selling? Okay, well, we won't go there. But then you went from vending to Wall Street. Why Wall Street?

162.525 - 162.625

What?

163.145 - 185.541 Landon Ray

Oh, so I was selling flowers and I was playing music in a band with my buddy. And now I turned 25 and something happens, I think, when you turn, at least for me, when I think for a lot of guys, you start to have this like, you know, holy crap, what am I going to do with my life moment? And and so I had that. And and for me, 25 was around 1996. And yeah.

185.521 - 209.21 Landon Ray

And that was the very early part of what was kind of feeling like there was something interesting happening in Silicon Valley, right? Like Yahoo was 12 bucks. Cisco was just getting off the ground. And there felt like there was this kind of like renaissance of something big going on in Silicon Valley. And I wanted to... I lived in Silicon Valley. I grew up in Half Moon Bay.
