Chapter 1: How did COVID impact VidLive's growth?
after talking with some of my customers and stuff, it just, it seemed like I should just drop it. It just, you know, that $2 really, I think it helped out because it really started getting people on. But then again, when COVID started, I probably could have got away with 10 bucks, you know, easy.
You are listening to Conversations with Nathan Latka. Now if you're hearing this, it means you're not currently on our subscriber feed. To subscribe, go to getlatka.com. When you subscribe, you won't hear ads like this one. You'll get the full interviews. Right now, you're only hearing partial interviews.
And you'll get interviews three weeks earlier from founders, thinkers, and people I find interesting. Like Eric Wan, 18 months before he took Zoom public.
We've got to grow faster. Minimum is 100% over the past several years.
Or bootstrap founders like Vivek of QuestionPro. When I started the company, it was not cool to raise. Or Lookers CEO Frank Behan before Google acquired his company for $2.6 billion. We want to see a real pervasive data culture, and then the rest flows behind that. If you'd like to subscribe, go to getlatka.com.
There, you'll find a private RSS feed that you can add to your favorite podcast listening tool, along with other subscriber-only content. Now look, I never want money to be the reason you can't listen to episodes. On the checkout page, you'll see an option to request free access. I grant 100% of those requests, no questions asked. Hello, everyone. My guest today is Sean North.
He's founder and creator of VidLive, a micro SaaS company that helps auto embed Facebook Live video on your web page. In addition to working on VidLive, he also works full time as a developer for a major auto manufacturer. All right, Sean, you ready to take us to the top? Sure. You're very diverse. Auto manufacturing and Facebook Live videos, huh?
Yeah.
Development though on both of them?

Chapter 2: What challenges did Shawn face when launching VidLive?
That's interesting. Okay. So how is it just you building the company or you have a little team?
No, it's just me.
Just you, man. This is the best way to do it, man. A side hustle, three, four grand a month, mostly margin. Why not?
Yes, definitely.
You have good design though. I mean, did you pay someone to do the design or you put this together yourself?
Um, I put that together myself. Um, you know, I, I'm mostly a backend guy as far as, uh, building applications. So I, I, uh, you know, go and find a template and, you know, put it together that way.
It looks, it looks really great. So it sounds like you found this as a template and then you sort of edited the template to match what you need. Right. Yeah. Okay, Top Drive, many of you ask me all the time, how did I get my website up so fast, so quickly, and why is it doing so well? The answer is simple. I use HostGator.com to keep the thing cranking along.
They've got a 45-day money-back guarantee, which is great. I used their free website builder to get this site up because it's ideal for WordPress. It's just what I use. They've got 4,500 templates and a free e-commerce plugin as well. And 24 seven support, which we love, right? We love that. I bug the hell out of them. They always get back to me.
So I've got you 30% off along with $100 in free AdWords credit. To grab it, just go to HostGator.com forward slash Nathan.

Chapter 3: How does VidLive simplify the embedding of Facebook Live videos?
But you got to do it now. Again, HostGator.com forward slash Nathan. How are you signing up new customers today? Like, how are they finding you?
Mostly through this search, the Google search. You know, I'm trying to add more. landing pages for different keywords and things like that. And basically just learning how to, how to market, um, this thing. It's, it's, I'm trying to get in front of more churches, obviously, because they're, they're the people that I think are more receptive or most receptive towards it.
So what is that? Like you try and optimize for like, uh, live stream churches or what are the, what's a keyword you're targeting?
Um, yeah, stuff like that. Um, uh, Facebook auto embed, um, Facebook, live for your ministry or for your church, things like that, you know, it's difficult. It's, it's, it's almost, it's hard to put into words what the app does, you know,
I'm looking at that search term right now, live stream churches, just got a curiosity to see who ranks for it. So Vimeo and GoTellIt.co are running ads against that keyword. And then there's not a lot of competition at all. It's actually individual churches like this Riverbend Church, a link to their live stream, not a tool for live streaming. I mean, this sounds like a great opportunity for you.
Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Pursue that.
Have you reached out to like this guy, Jake at church front, his YouTube ranks number one for the keyword live streaming set up for small churches.
Yes. I have seen that video.
But do you, did you reach out and try and convince him to link to you in the video?
