What is the premise of the “Girl Next Door” horror story?

Dan Cummins 0:28
Welcome to another edition of Nightmare Fuel Creeps and Peepers. I'm Dan Cummins, and today I'll be sharing part one of a new two-part-only story. More of a short story this time, less of a novel. And speaking of novel, uh thanks so much for all the kind words on the wrap-up of After Midnight, uh, word count-wise, that entire arc, uh one hundred percent novel length. And uh I look forward to revisiting that story and some of the others before too long and trying to adapt some of them to print. Uh more on that later. I have not forgotten about Lizzie Chavez or The Dark World or The Storm. I have been formulating uh more plans for a lot of this content lately and and I don't mean to be cryptic, but I will share what the future looks like for a lot of it, what I hope it looks like uh at the start of next year.

The timing will make sense then. Until then, thank you, thank you, thank you for all the support and feedback. Uh, it truly helps more than you know. And now let's dig into a different kind of story. As always, we highly recommend noise cancellation headphones for the ultimate experience. Time now for the tale of Of the girl next door. Midge was pissed right the fuck off. Not annoyed, not put out or perturbed, whatever in the Sam hell that word even fully means. No, she had goddamn had it up to here and then some. This wasn't a night for it. She'd come home already on edge. Tyler's stupid ass had never shut the hell up for more than five minutes at any point during her entire shift Philip 66. If he wasn't talking about Pokemon or slurping that big-ass diabetes-sized jug of Pepsi he always kept within arm's reach, or getting more cookie crumbs on that work shirt of his that looks like it's deathly allergic to laundry detergent, he was yapping about gathering magic or diving into hell too or some stupid shit.
Dan Cummins 2:16
Shit. All that fat, greasy, goofy bastard ever talked about was what games he was playing, what girls wouldn't give him the time of day, online or in real life, or about some bullshit he'd just seen on TikTok that either couldn't possibly be true or just had to be true. Either damn way, Midge was getting a phone shoved in front of her face, even though she didn't give half a fat flying fuck about any of it. She was 73 years old. years old for God's sake, and Tyler wasn't her son or her grandson. Thank Christ on a cracker for that small blessing. It had been another long, soul crushing shift for Midge Buchanan. Another day spent wondering where the hell all the years had gone, and why at her age she didn't have much more than a pot to piss in to show for them.
Dan Cummins 2:59
Another day spent second guessing a lot of the decisions that had led to her still needing to work a full-time, dead-end job at her age to pay the bills. When she clocked out at 10 p.m., she decided against swinging by balleys and playing the slots like she'd planned to when she'd first clocked in at two. But she was just too tired and her knee was screaming after standing on it all day, so she decided to head straight home, which was probably for the best, all things considered. But goddammit, those stingy Buffalo gold pricks owed her. She was down almost five hundred bucks since the last paycheck, so she had to keep playing. They hadn't been hitting for so long, she just knew she was due. She could feel it in her bones.
Dan Cummins 3:37
Midge was thinking about how much she'd lost and what winning she might be missing out on. When she walked in the front door of her side of the duplex and saw that her tomcat Spud had left her a gift. A single fresh turd deposited smack dab in the middle where she always sat on the couch to watch TV. Motherfucker! And he must have deposited not much more than a minute or two earlier, because even through the scrap of newspaper Midge used to grab it with, it still felt warm to the touch. The litter box wasn't more than ten feet away and perfectly ready for the And one left in all caps with an exclamation point or three. And now, at one o'clock in the goddamn morning on a Thursday night, while trying to wind down for bed with a third G and T in her hand, that rude little bitch next door was blasting her rap music so loud through the shared wall of the duplex that Midge couldn't hear what in the shit Matlock was saying to the judge.
