Hi there. Yeah, there's a 13-year-old out there somewhere that's going to be that 2030 first-round pick. Although I suppose if the Rangers really suck, it could get pushed to 2031. That's right. Might be a 12-year-old out there running around this summer that someday will be selected with that pick.

But look, I think it's getting universal praise to have paid a first-round pick to get Marcus Pedersen and coming off a season in which he didn't necessarily boost his stock. He had a tough year, as so many did, but he was one of the poster guys for the struggles under Adam Feldman. and be able to turn him into a first rounder down the road and lottery protected. Still, I think all things considered, pretty good work. Although, you know, it came out of the blue. Like when I woke up this morning, I didn't expect the Canucks to be revamping their defense core. And so kind of curious to see what led to this move from the Canucks perspective.

Well, certainly I need to see the next shoe that's going to drop here because they're being linked heavily to Jamie Oleksiak, and you can start to see things unfolding there if that's in fact the case, clearing out a spot, bringing in a big body. I mean, they've talked about getting harder to play against. Well, they don't come a whole lot bigger than Jamie Oleksiak, and he adds an element of toughness as well that they're lacking somewhat on the back end. And then if it's Oleksiak and Luke Shan, I mean, you've got two guys that – you know, aren't afraid to do some of the heavy lifting back there. And that does reshape the blue line for the Vancouver Canucks. So Marcus Pettersson was lauded for his leadership.
He seemed to be liked in that locker room. But they've gone out, they've brought in these other culture carriers. I think they felt that that was a player that they could move off of. And again, when a first rounder was dangled in front of them, I think they just felt that they had to pull the trigger there.
Would you, if they bring back, if they bring in Oleksiak and you've got Lushen already, are you worried about the foot speed of that blue line? I mean, again, no guarantee. You have to play the veterans every night. But, you know, they are getting old and pretty slow if that's the two veterans that they bring in.
Yeah, I mean, it is a concern, certainly in a league that's getting faster by the day. But at the same time, I think Ryan Johnson, boy, the other day on his Zoom call, you know, he talked about role definition. It was a term that he used over and over and over. You know, I look at these moves and I think, well, penalty kill is absolutely an area that they had to address that. you know it was a downfall for them again this past season i would think that when you look at these guys you're not looking at them racing up and down the ice with the puck i think uh the role definition for them would be stay at home play the physical game and contribute to a penalty kill that can only go up so uh you know i think that would be the way i look at these moves if in fact no
