They scored early. They scored often. Qatar went down to 10 men, then to 9 men. creating the longest power play in human history. Canada needed a resounding victory after that nervous draw versus Bosnia to open the tournament, and they got it.

But it was an absolute festival of humanity, really. Yes, soccer was the catalyst here. But people just got together and had fun. And this is why... things like the fireworks and all that. Mike, you have some viz we can show them here of what Granville Street was looking like. So Mike and I went over to Granville and watched the game inside a restaurant bar. And it was funny because 115-ish, most of the places on Granville, so a little less than two hours before a kickoff, were absolutely rammed. We pretty much had to go to the south end of the pedestrian zone here by Davie Street. to find tables. And then as the match kicked off, Blake, the streets were not only packed, but you had that phenomenon going where people were crowding around bar and storefront windows just to stand and watch the game. And absorb the atmosphere as best they could. So it was absolutely packed during the game.
And then, my lord... After the game, when 55,000 people spilled out of BC Place, and I think most of them headed straight for Granville because it was just massive humanity in either direction that you looked. We popped a squat, found a patio at Granville and Nelson, and it was just steady stream of people walking past us of... for some three, four hours after the match. The vibe was extraordinary. The goodwill, I mean, 10 out of 10. Smiles from everyone, high-fiving strangers. I mean, Granville Street was sold out last night as well as the stadium. We stuck around and watched the remainder of the Mexico-Korea match. And, I mean, that was crazy, too, because there were so many Mexican fans on Granville Street.
And then Mexico wins. Huge celebrations. We caught some Nacho Libre that was taking place right next door to us. I see one Nacho Libre wrestler right there.
