He's got five years left and he's 30 years old. And that looked expensive a few months ago, but now with the rising cap and some of the deals that we're seeing being handed out, you've got to readjust what a player like him deserves on the open market.
AJ Greer and Mason Marshman vis-a-vis Jake DeBrusque as well. It would seem like there should be a market for that player. And we had originally been a little bit curious as to why there hadn't been noise around Marcus Pettersson. And now there is, of course. But maybe it just took some of the sticker shock to happen before teams were willing to turn their direction, turn their eyes towards trades.
Yeah, and it's also, you know, I'm sure a team like the Rangers, you know, you'd probably want to see what's available in free agency and see if you can get a player that you like for nothing rather than giving up picks.
The Rangers also, by the way, guys, the Rangers just traded Vincent Trocek to the Utah Mammoth. So they also just freed up his 5.625 over the next three years.

Compare this to Major League Baseball when you have star players that go months without signing with the team before they decide. It is quite something in the NHL.
And I see a lot of people are wondering, might there be assets involved here? Like, is this a pseudo three-way deal here that Trocek or Utah assets are involved in coming back to Vancouver? We'll see. It seems a little funny that two Ranger deals are being consummated at the very same time here, guys. So maybe there's some connection between all of these factions here.
Oh, if you're telling me one of those Utah prospects could wind up on the Vancouver Canucks...
