Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Breakfast with Gary and Tim. The Coach's Call.
Best brands, best range, best gifts for mum. Shop in store and online at Harvey Norman. Tigers opened their account on the weekend. They took on the West Coast Eagles over there in Perth. They lose Dion Prestia early in the game and they hold on for what the coach describes as one of the best wins that he's been involved in and he's been good enough to join us this morning. Adam Uzay, welcome.
Morning, Gary. Morning, guys. What's life?
Chapter 2: What insights does Adem Yze share about the Tigers' recent performance?
Just tell us the difference between this. I know you've got to be level and you've got to stay the same, but when you have got a win behind you, surely the week's more enjoyable.
Well, that's what you play for. You play to win.
Chapter 3: How did the Tigers overcome adversity in their recent game?
So, yeah, of course it is. Yeah, obviously the Staying at the hotel after the game and sitting around, having dinner together and watching the boys mingle and connect. And obviously a long flight home is obviously better after a win. But, yeah, we've got through our review and got some learnings from it, some positives and just the things that we weren't good enough.
But, yeah, so that was a few days ago now. So we've obviously now got our head firmly and we're looking at one of the best teams in the comp in Adelaide coming over here and playing at our ground. So, yeah, it was obviously a nice review after a win, but it's pretty quickly on to Adelaide.
Adam, fight, grit, spirit. Has that been the theme all year?
Oh, well, that's kind of been our theme for the last couple of years. That's a staple of our footy club, really. So, yeah, we've always sort of had that as a staple pre-game and a theme around our club, really. Yeah, I think it might have been my first game that I've coached or one of our first wins.
I asked the boys what it felt like out there and that's what a couple of our leaders had mentioned. So we've sort of stuck with that. And realistically, on the weekend, that just shone through.
We were obviously dealing with the fair bit and even during the week and the day that we jumped on the plane or the players jumped on the plane to lose Sammy Lawler and obviously Tim didn't get through training. We needed to dig really deep and yeah, so there was a bit happening.
So that's why I felt like it was such a good win because the adversity that we were dealing with and then obviously had to deal with a couple of days before the game for our boys to just focus and play their role and actually play a really nice brand of footy. We've been working on trying to play four quarters of footy and we did that.
So, yeah, it was a really nice win for the boys and a nice reward for the effort that they put in for last month. Sorry about that.
In all that, do you think you've found the next great ruckman in the competition in Noah Bolter?

Chapter 4: What themes of fight and grit have defined the Tigers' season?
He's got so much sort of natural talent. Is his next step, like Cozzy has, like Shea Bolton has, like Isaac Rankin, is his next step to come up through the middle and become a more permanent midfielder?
Yeah, no doubt. Well, whether it's permanent midfield or just some centre-bounce access, which we have done previously. He's had some access this pre-season and a few of the earlier games. So he will do that and hopefully get some opportunity to go through there again.
um this weekend but that is the natural progression a high forward um high impact um you can see uh nick watson does it and and like you said with some of like cozy i remember cozy starting he'd sort of do four center bounces for a few games or for a season and then it become eight and then now it's sort of midfield minutes rather than just going in there for a center bounce so yeah seth's got some high talent and
the capability to do so so yeah we'll give him that exposure and we're looking forward to him doing that but yeah he's for him on the weekend and to be fair this season he's been outstanding so yeah we want to give access to a lot of our younger players through there and we will do so.
Talking to Richmond coach Adam Uzay, Cal Toomey has reported, and you can confirm or deny this, that Nathan Broad has told the club that he wants to return to WA at the end of the year. Is that the case?
uh well he hasn't told me personally but um oh but we yeah to be fair um i don't i don't know if that's correct um but what i do know is he's got a contract and he's 33 and he's from perth and um that will be at some stage part of his next journey so um right now like i said he hasn't mentioned anything like that to us or to me as a coach um what i do know is he's a
He's a terrific leader of our footy club and he's so invested in the boys. Going over to Perth, obviously, he was one of the driving forces of dealing with what we were dealing with. The boys landed and then found out Sammy Lawler wasn't playing. So they were there before the coaches got there.
um the dinner like the leaders really drove the connection the night before we got there and um yeah like i said he's so invested in in us um he's been a terrific servant of our footy club so if he does decide at the end of the year whether he goes back home to go and play or just to go and coach or just to take his family taylor and samara back over to perth and move on with life um
Yeah, that will be his decision. But like I said, we're just so grateful to have him right now. And whatever he decides at the end of the year will obviously help him with whatever he decides to do.
