Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Fireball. Yes, I didi. This footy season. And unlock your warehouse's potential with the latest innovations from Dexian. And Kogan Mobile. Kogan.com. Clickin' awesome. Kane and Kingy. Fire.
Oh, dearly coming to you from the house of Gossage, the house that Tim Gossage built with his own two hands, his own blood, sweat and tears. Adam Kingsley is going to join us in the gun. Sammy Edmund with all the news. Been a heavy news week. The Friday Agenda Fireball Feedback.
Chapter 2: What are the key topics covered in the 'Scramble' segment?
And your contribution to our program, there's a lot we need to get through. Welcome to Fireball, the best analyst in football, always alongside for the journey. With me is David King. He's back in Melbourne. Kingy, good morning to you. Cornsy, Cornsy, how are you? You're looking a bit weary this morning. I need you up, I need you up. It's been a big week. Keep your gloves up today.
Keep your gloves up today. We'll be right. We'll get through.
Chapter 3: How do Kane and Kingy introduce their guests?
Lorenzo doing God's work with the coffee at the front because there is nothing open. There is not a person in sight over here in Perth. And our boy Lorenzo, who had the music blaring, the liar song, as I've walked up towards the studio this morning, with a huge coffee from our great friends at Mackey's. That's the one. I wasn't interested in it. And he said...
He said, ice long black with a little bit of milk. I said, you betcha, Lorenzo. So outstanding from him. I didn't know this. I thought Lorenzo was part of the business in SENWA. It's just a random.
I don't understand why he brings a coffee to you at 2.30 in the morning.
He loves us. Had the hat on. Had merch. Told me that he's coming over for the grand final show at the Pullman. He's coming.
Chapter 4: What are the latest updates from the AFL discussed?
He's coming. He's going to be there making the big trip over. And last night, our friend Lorenzo. I feel a bit weird about Lorenzo, to be honest. As I tweet him. Coming. I love coming. He's weirding me out. Geordie, it's five minutes into the show. He was at the ground last night with a cut-out poster of Epstein Girl. I saw you post something. That's Lorenzo.
If you want to know who Lorenzo is, check out the socials. Can we pop him on our little feed, please? Where's the Epstein Girl music? I need to get Lorenzo a job somewhere. No, he's got a job. What's he doing? He's told me before. Listen, today's your day, not mine. It's your day. That's my tactic. I'm turning it back on you today. I don't mind that. I don't mind that.
I'll keep my gloves up as well. I'll tell you what, you had a strong week. Ever I turn, there you are. Can I firstly just say there's not a person in Australia that wouldn't put a paying job before a non-paying job that gets nothing but negative feedback. Off the top. Let's just put that on the deck, right? So we all understand the decision you were forced to make in the end.
Is that, in its simplest form, is that it? Yeah, there's a bit more complex than that, Kingy. But, yeah, it was an interesting week. Not much more complex. What do you mean more complex? It was great. I had Lauren Wood ring me from the hill, son, straight after. She'd be listening. She'd be right up the hill. I know. She was lovely about the whole thing.
I thought, okay, that'll be pretty favourable, the Herald Sun writing about this, if I can pick up Lauren's tone. Favourable. She's friendly and understanding and kind. A couple of hours later, I read the Herald Sun. Oh, no. You got taken down. Did you? The headline. What was the headline? Oh, something that you tweeted. So they used your tweet as the headline. And why wouldn't you?
You were doing the Kramer. I'm out straight away. Well, it sort of got us thinking in here, you know, like, because you sort of got a bit angry because the double agent's doing it. He's not really the double agent anymore. He's got about 17 different roles in the business here. And it's caused a little bit of tension because I don't know. You're my captain of the fireball program.
And the double agent, well, right now I'm not sure where he sits. So we put a little something together. I want to get to the bottom of this because you two are not talking at the moment, which is pissing me off. It's making it very difficult as the third wheel here. So we put a little something together. And so it is.
It's with great disappointment and significant emotion that we must address Cain Corns after he stepped down as an All-Australian selector. A day that should have been celebrated by all wingmen on the AFL landscape and of course Aaron Norton. That has been usurped by the fact that Cain has put the sports bet dollar before the code. I'm out. Wow, that was fast.
What seemed like a standard Cain Corns media drive-by with Cain as the target has created an internal leadership crisis. Our own, one of ours, the triple agent, Sam Watson, has produced The Sounding Board and also Fireball, has been seen to have sided with Damien Barrett over Fireball's captain, Cain Corners.

Chapter 5: What insights do Kane and King share about the recent match results?
They don't wait for an opportunity. They chase it. And you can almost feel the energy lifting. The crowd played a part, obviously, but I love the way they're building. They've got to stack these wins. It's a race to 18 wins.
Chapter 6: How do Kane and King evaluate the coaching strategies of GWS and their impact on the game?
I said that earlier in the year. If this team wants to win the flag... They've got to finish top two. How they do that, there is a pathway, obviously, but they've got to finish top two. So it was an important win last night. I mean, he needs some credit, the coach, because they are definitely playing a more attacking style.
We were sort of lucky enough to have a Zoom call with him on Wednesday, and they spoke about their preseason and... how they wanted to score more, and there's a couple of examples last night. Like early, Hayden Young's got someone right on him, doesn't go off the mark, just handball straight away, forward handball, and off they go.
Their speed, they've got elite small forwards that they really want for nothing from a personnel point of view, but I think the coach has got this group humming eight in a row at Kingy. You going to give him some credit this morning? I still think they play slow. Right. Yeah. There's times when they handball the ball, but they're infrequent.
I think you'd find last night they played pretty slow for the bulk of the night. They meandered through the second and third quarter. Well, I think everyone's got different modes that they go to. Like, every team's not going to be... But they are a slow team. ...breakneck speed the whole time. You'll have the numbers on it.
But I think when they want to drop the hammer, they drop the hammer and go as quick as anyone.
Yeah.
And I think there's been a bit more of a shift in terms of the risk-taking that they're playing with fast handball board movement.

Chapter 7: What are the implications of player performances on team dynamics?
And then once they get you down the line and then they win that contest... Good night. Lights out. They probably left three goals out there in the third quarter. There was players slipping over. There were some ordinary skill errors. And in the end, you look at the stat sheet, not dissimilar to the discussion we had about Collingwood Hawthorne last week.
They look at the stat sheet and go, geez, we pretty much had this game in control for a lot of it. They just had some wild card performances too. Look, I haven't seen Frederick play like that for a while. Can we chat about Murphy Reid? What is Murphy Reid going to become? Who does he remind you of? Because all the talk was Watson at the other end, and I get it. I get it. We'll get to him.
What it does, yeah, I know. And what he does takes the eye. Murphy Reid does it with more subtlety, but what he does hits the scoreboard. He's a unique type of player, isn't he? He is. I think during the pre-season, I said he reminds me a little bit of Stevie J, Stevie J traits, just with how smart he is as a footballer.
Now, they're not identical, but that's the player that he reminds me of when I watch him, like the handball over the...
the back the little dinky kicks i think he's unselfish when he needs to be when he needs to finish like he did from outside 50 last night he can one pick can can do a whole lot for you particularly if it's a later pick and there'd be some clubs scratching the head as we've discussed as how they let this guy go i told you a few weeks ago freemantle had him rated third leading into that draft they've now got him rated one it's extraordinary so i
So, yeah, and he loves the big moment and he plays well in big games like we've seen a number of times already. So everyone says, you know, everyone's still behind Brisbane. They've got to catch Brisbane. They've got to do this. They've got to do that. So to get to 18 wins.

Chapter 8: How does the discussion shift to player management and recruitment strategies?
So they've got seven more games at home. So having ticked off the Hawks last night, they're already on eight wins, right? So they're on eight. they're probably going to win, you'd say, six of the seven, maybe five of the seven. They're not going to have to win too many on the road to finish top two. It was a fantastic win for them.
And then good luck going there for a qualifying final and then perhaps a prelim final. So we'll get to a lot more off the back of last night. Your calls as well. There's a holiday on the line for our man Guts Up. We'll hear from Sam Mitchell as well on the other side of this. This is Fireball.
Hickam smothered, Jackson across his boot, Murphy read onto the ricochet, kicks to an open forward set up, Amos knocked along for Frederick, might he go again, Frederick takes the snap, oh the Dockers, Murphy time all rights, goal after goal after goal. So we had a little bit of that. That was Gerard Whiteley. What a call it was on AFL Nation for Harvey Norman.
Best brands, best range, best gifts for mum. Shop in store online. Harvey Norman, we had a bit of a briefing before the game and Gary O'Keefe, head of sports in Perth, he said, look, if it gets close, there's a thing called Wharfie time that they do over here. They've been doing it for years. And we won't come back with a replay of the previous goal. We'll come back with Wharfie time.
And my word wasn't one of the great experiences in-game that I've seen. It's only when the game's close late in the last quarter, Kenny, as you mentioned. But every club is looking for an advantage, a home-grown advantage. We've seen Never Tear Us Apart. Other clubs are doing different things. Brisbane with their goals.
songs and all of that warfie times the best in stadium innovation that i've seen and i reckon that had a major impact on lifting the players to get them over the line so whoever whoever did it whoever thought of that at freemantle congratulations i reckon it got them a win There you go. Wharf-y time. Bit of wharf-y time. The crowd was crazy.
Yeah, and I thought the coach had a pretty good 30 to 40 minutes at the end of the game, Cornsy, where he threw Jackson forward, he threw Young forward, he tried different things. He clearly sped up their ball movement, like you said. A lot of text messages coming through. Murphy Reid reminds me of Robbie Gray. He said a couple of people, Richard said that and also Jai said that.
Mark McCurry come through from one of our callers here, Dave from Werribee, and Alan Didak. That's an interesting one from Dylan. I can see all of those players. All of them. I can see a little bit of Murphy. A bit of it all. Yeah. So where does it leave the Hawks?
Are you disappointed they couldn't go on with it 15 points up for a large chunk of the second half and then all of a sudden it was gone? Yes. Let's have a listen to the coach, Sam Mitchell. We've been involved in...
