Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Breakfast with Gary and Tim.
It's on! Good morning, everyone.
Welcome, welcome, welcome. Tuesday, May the 5th. It is the McCafe menu. Try McCafe's drink range. Well, we've got a very, very big offering for you today. The Ramble, of course, for the next hour or so. Thanks to our great friends at Cobham Estate. The Tuesday takeaways out of 7 o'clock. Gold Coast Sons, Tooke Mill is going to join us. Sammy Edmond with all the news questions without notice.
We haven't seen each other for a few days, so it's always great to reassemble on a Tuesday morning. Welcome to you, Whispers. Oh, we haven't seen each other for, like, Must be almost 12 hours since we did our promo shots yesterday. Oh, yeah, we did the photos. A nice little run around. Wasn't that a palama trying to get you into this joint for a photo outside of working hours?
Once it was explained to me how important it was, I was here with bells on. It was great to catch up with you yesterday. I caught up with little old Black Sox who used to be our producer of our radio program. Haven't seen him for a while, JC. Yeah, he's in good form. He's producing the NRL show. Yeah, I did. I wandered around here at that time of the day.

Chapter 2: What are the Tuesday takeaways from the show?
I haven't been in here at 4.30 in the afternoon for a long time. Oh, cut it out. Ghost town. It was a hive. Everyone had gone. It was a hive of activity. Well, Gazy and Andy, I came in. No, they're up at Tokyo. I came in. I wanted to do a few. Spot with them. What's the segment they do Monday night? I want to do a couple of Monday matters.
And the old stoopster and Sammy Edmund were here, but the other two weren't. Yeah, no, they were up at the golf course and just about walked in on Caro while she was having her make-up done before her agenda set. There's stuff going on everywhere. I didn't realise this stuff happened all over the place. It's a busy little organisation. I must have left by then. I had to go to do my own stuff.
Oh, you just stepped up to the plate and the old photographer said, look, stand there, Gary, like this.
Stand there like that. Stand there like this.
Now my thoughts on photography.
Great.
Snap, snap, snap. Away you go. These days you can just, I don't know. Photoshop anything. No. Kleine and Michael Wilson, they'll get upset. The great photographers can make a difference. Everyone else. We can just hold the iPhone up. I'll just hold my finger on the button. I'll take four and a half thousand photos in 12 seconds. Surely one of them is good. What about you?
You go back to the photographer and he's got a little computer so you can see the photographs that have just been taken. Yeah. And you're telling him how to Photoshop your images. Just take a little bit off there. He got me fat neck.
Take a little bit off there.

Chapter 3: What are the health updates regarding the hosts?
They go, like, they get dirty. No, I wouldn't have gone down that track. She wouldn't have been able to sell it to me. I thought this, what's this Stanley? Stanley Tucci's got a pan out as well. Have you seen that? Oh, you're a namer. You just buy, you're a name buyer. That's who you are. Well, yeah. You're a name brander.
Yeah.
I like Stanley Tucci, and he highly recommended it, but then I went, the lady at the jump said, nah, look, I'd be buying another one. It's called a green pan. Is it? Stanley Tucci's, apparently, yeah. A green one? Well, that's what it's called, a green pan. Has it got a black, is it black base? I don't know. What do you mean you don't know? I lost interest. I lost interest after a while.
Did you buy one or not? No, I didn't buy one.
Oh, you didn't buy one. No, I didn't buy it then because I got recommended another one. But the steak, that was magnificent. Oh, there it is, the steak, the Tucci by Greenpan. His cooking program is fantastic. And that was the other thing that I needed. Do you know anyone that's been to The Devil Wears Prada 2? Yep. The sequel? Yep. And reports? Pretty good, she said.
They had a little soiree and had a little champagne and in they went. I might go and see that. I like the one. I like the first one. What else have you got there? What else have I got? I've got thousands of stuff. Well, get to it, will you? There's a massive soccer game going on at the moment. Everton play Man City. Apparently City are two wins behind Arsenal.
We've got the two games up their sleeve. And one of the games up their sleeve is being played right now against Everton. And it's halftime. And Man City are leading 1-0 over Everton. So they're making a little bit of a charge. Arsenal have been on top of the ladder all year, I think. They're feeling pretty comfortable about themselves. And now getting chased down by Man City.
It's the old squeaky story over and over and over again. Have you been giving any thought to Pendles and what he might be doing and how he might be doing it? No, but I know you have. I know you have. You came in here loaded today. I said to you it would be a good idea. I said it would be a good idea if he made many jumper changes. And you said, Wisp, I think that's a great idea.
I think what they'll do potentially. Hang on. Let me just backtrack. We were talking about what you could do.

Chapter 4: What insights do Garry and Tim share about coaching changes?
It was just, and you got the lizard running off half back and you got Maxie Gorn. What about Guns N' Roses? And you got Guns N' Roses as well. He just kicked a lazy seven straight from the forward pocket. That's unbelievable. I call him R-Red. What's that mean? Roses are red. No, don't try and jump on the- His nickname's Mel, which I like as well. That's his nickname. What? Mel.
His name's Malcolm. No. Oh, I thought it was- No. What do you mean his nickname's Mel? I thought it was Mel Roses. What? Smell the roses? Oh, no.
No.
Mel Roses placed the show that you sent me. It's a disaster. His nickname's not Mel. It's his name, you peanut. Oh, God, help me. What am I dealing with? Fingers go to a break, please. Breakfast with Gary and Tim.
At our fond family.
The Ramble for Cobram Estate. Australia's most awarded extra virgin olive oil. Grown, harvested and first cold pressed in Northern Victoria.
No, don't try and jump on the... His nickname's Mel, which I like as well. That's his nickname. What? Mel. His name's Malcolm. No. Oh. I thought it was. Oh, no. That's the best of the year. That has got our audience up and about, Wisp. Silly me. You thought it was a nickname like Melrose Place. Yes, I thought. Oh, that's clever. That's really clever. Mel Rose's. Mel Rose's Place.
Now, the movie, The Sons of Katie Elder. That's what I watched on Sunday afternoon with no footy. I watched The Sons of Katie Elder with John Wayne and Dean Martin. Matt's on the road. He might have won a nomination as well. Go, Matty.
Yeah, g'day, fellas. I'm not a huge Western fan, but my old man loved his Westerns, all the old... Charles Bronson, I remember, yeah, Dad used to love his lessons. But I remember as a kid, the first time I ever saw my dad just break into an absolute uncontrolled... Tears rolling out of the eyes, spitting the teeth out laughter, was when we watched Blazing Saddles. Was it Mel Blanc?

Chapter 5: What strategies do the players discuss for managing difficult playing conditions?
Do they help at all in those conditions?
I've never tried wearing gloves. You boys have tried the sweatbands on both arms. Look, I think sometimes it's just a matter of putting your head in the hole and trying to hold on for dear life when you get the ball and trying to execute when you get your chance.
And the good thing is you're playing against a team that aren't at all suited to it. At least, as you said, you got exposed to it on Sunday night, so you get your head around it. But other teams that come up there for the first time, they go, jeez, the Saints will be going. This is a whole different proposition.
Chapter 6: How do teams prepare for travel and community engagement?
Yeah, no, definitely. I've got to say, it's definitely an advantage when we do go up to Darwin, but I guess it's the beauty of us being able to play there and train in those conditions for the whole pre-season. Yeah, it's going to be really good games and Kilda's in really good form.
Paul has also been doing some really good things recently, so I think those two games are going to be right to the line.
So they're back-to-back. Give us an idea about the travel. You go up there and you settle yourself in for a week or so?
Chapter 7: What insights are shared about player performance and team dynamics?
Yeah, we got up Thursday and then, yeah, we're just kind of just a normal week for us. We're on a six-day turn, so things are a little bit quicker in terms of moving, but we'll settle in for a couple of days, play and then kind of inject ourselves in the community and have a bit of fun in the early part of the week and then get ready for port on the Friday night.
So it should be good fun. Record's great. 8-2 win in Darwin, 1-8 on the bounce whisper, so you'd be happy to get up there. Yeah, tough to beat up there. Christian Petrarca, the form that he's displayed in the short time that he's been up there with you has just been unbelievable.
And I heard the coach talking last night too about the effect and how good he's been for some of the younger players off the field too.
Yeah, definitely. He's been such a great addition. I think it's the beauty of probably getting a player who's been in the game for quite some time and has obviously lived some pretty...
you know big experiences both on and off the field and i think he's his character is is really helped uh and with with the younger players um he's obviously an ultra professional um he's playing at a high level he's really loving the environment that he's in um and he's rubbing off the right way for a lot of people so um yeah we're very fortunate we've got a person like in at our football club and and like you said his on-field display has been uh yeah second to none at the moment he's really playing some good football
The team has been playing some good football in fits and starts. What part of your game right now do you think you need to clean up the most?
I think for us, it's never just one thing.

Chapter 8: How do players analyze their opponents and prepare for matches?
I think everything intertwines. I think if you ever talk to Dimmer about... His philosophy around footy, everything kind of flows into one. If you have poor offense, it creates poor defense. If you have poor defense, it flows into your offense. And if you can't win the ball, then you can't really do anything.
So I think we just have to make sure that we have a balance of getting everything right in our game. And I think we kind of showed that on the weekend. We were able to Be a lot stronger in the contest, which we haven't been for a while. And then we had a lot more control in our offense will also help us set the down defensively. So, yeah, it's been learning carefully in the right direction.
You haven't had the Brown No Medalist for much of the year. He missed on the weekend with, I can't remember what it was, but what's the chances of him coming back, Matty Rowell?
Yeah, I don't know his exact timeline, but I do know that he's trending in the right direction. We'd obviously love to have him out there as soon as possible, but someone like him, you also don't want to push the boundary too much, and we've still got a long season ahead of us, and we've got a lot of good footy to play, so when he's ready, he'll slip back in the games.
A little ankle injury whisperer. Right. He's had a couple of little niggles from time to time. You know, when you're doing and you're looking at St Kilda this week, do you do sort of like a detailed analysis of the players? A little bit of whiteboard stuff. I know people, I know this has been a big story down here.
I don't know whether you caught up with it or not, but Gary and I, obviously we played a long time ago, but we did this and it was in more detail and it was probably more damning of individuals than what we even learned at the weekend. Do you do that sort of stuff up there at the Gold Coast Suns?
Yeah, look, I mean, I think as every team would, you're looking into other players in your opposition scouting. Like, we do that every week. You know, you've got players on the whiteboard who, you know, you feel like you can get after and players you can do damage to if you don't handle them the right way. So, you know, obviously...
I felt like my personal opinion on that, it was, you know, not ideal that that was, you know, put out to the public because I think that's just a personal thing for a club.
And, yeah, I thought it was a bit disrespectful from that regard. But I also think that being inside the four walls, as you guys would know, that's just common practice in AFL footy. You're out there to how can you beat the opposition and how can you understand them better to beat them on the weekend. So, yeah.
