Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
Breakfast with Gary and Tim. It's all right.
Good morning, everyone. Welcome Wednesday, May the 13th. It is McCafe Menu. Try McCafe's drink range. All the news and fallout from the departure of Michael Voss. We've got Tommy Papley, the pap. He's going to join us from the Swans. We've got Tom Green and Connor Iden from the Stars. Going strong into the northern market here. Andrew Russell's in for Wellness Wednesday.
Not sure if I've got my five thoughts organised today. I've had a very busy week. I'll just see what I've got. As I say, good evening. Good morning to the wisp, Tim Watson. Good morning, Gary.
Chapter 2: What news is shared about Michael Voss?
Good morning, everybody. Well, your five thoughts lasted a bit longer than I thought they would. I thought they'd only last one week. They lasted two. I did it on Thursday last week, so I can think I'll probably do it on Thursday this week.
Okay.
We've got a pretty packed show.
Chapter 3: Who are the guests joining the show?
I know. We've got Papley Green, Iden, Russell. How much more do you want? Not much more than that. Pussy's bow, I would say. I've got a nice little fresh, sharp wispatorial as well. That's two days running. There's something going on in my head at the moment. What about this? The first temper text for us this morning. Jocko here.
Boys, Gary, I just wanted to say what a great interview with Jonathan Brown. Well done, mate. I concur. You and Johnny, I reckon you are the new... You might be the new two Ronnies, I think, the pair of you. You might be able to travel. You might be able to travel Australia. You might be able to travel the globe. No one knows who the two Ronnies are. Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett.
Who would know who the two Ronnies are? And it's good night from him, and it's good night from me as well. How good was he? How good did he look? He looked great. He looked great, didn't he? Sharp. He did. He did. He looked sharp, and he looked like he was up for a chat as well. Couldn't get him to shut up. It was great. It was great.
And your interviewing technique, crikey, have you learnt the craft over the years?
Chapter 4: What are the main topics covered in the first half of the episode?
Just to sort of put the question out there and sit back and the silences and all those things, they all build a drama, they do. Crikey. Well, it took me back to the Saddam days. Well done to you. Well done to you. What a day. Big day, wasn't it? I'll tell you what, there were emergency podcasts, all sorts of things happening yesterday. Going off here. I left here. I heard the sirens going.
I heard the people rushing for the stairwells. I was going to bring that in. Backup emergency power booster was activated yesterday. Crikey, Moses. Dude, we swing into action when there's a big story going on. We're going to have to launch our emergency podcast at about 4 o'clock in the morning. If we want to go on before we go off, we can go on about half past 2.
Emergency at 2.30 on we go because we're not on until 6, so we have to go on at 2. That's not our domain. That's not our domain. The boys did a great job yesterday getting out there and about, and I saw that even ā I'll tell you how good Corn is. I think he excused himself from a breakfast.
He did a walk and talk on the MCG yesterday too when the news broke, and that went out there very, very quick sticks too. He does not miss a trick there, Blake. He does not miss a trick. Good on him. Well done. Hey, I want to talk to you something. Do you know what Subway Surf is? Got no idea. What is it? I don't know either, but Brooks explained this to me. So this was on the AFL website.
So they've got a, on TikTok from the AFL, a TikTok put out by the AFL. Yeah. Right. Right. So it's got a split screen. So half of the top of the split screen is Vossi doing his interview with Damo. So the exclusive one-on-one interview with Damo. So they talk, so everyone wanted to hear Michael Voss. So that interview is going on. While it's going on underneath it,
There's some sort of a game, like a video game kind of set up being played. Right. And it's running simultaneously with Michael Voss' interview at the top, right? Right. So, Brooke shows me this this morning. It's called the TikTok Subway Surf Trend.
That's AI's explanation of what's going on because according to those in the know, the attention span of this demographic wouldn't just watch Michael Voss talking. That wouldn't be enough for them. They'd look at a certain demographic, look at that and go, what's this old man talking about?
So they need the video game underneath it so they can play the game and do all that stuff as this thing goes along a train line and Vossie's just rambling along in the background.
Yeah.

Chapter 5: Why hasn't Jack Eisen played senior footy yet?
I need Carlton fans to tell me why Jack Eisen, I-S-O-N, hasn't played senior footy yet. Why is that? Have you taken a special interest in him? Only from what I saw. I watched the VFL, as I said, on the weekend. Carlton played Casey. They absolutely donkey-lipped him. And then I've been watching his ā I then went online because he caught my eye. He just caught my eye with the way he played.
Chapter 6: What qualities does Connor Idun bring to the team?
And then I went online and had a look at his under-18 stuff. By hell, is he a smooth-moving left footer that kicks the footy well. Exactly what they need. Lean Clean Tom Green has arrived in the studio with Connor Iden. He's not only is he dominating the landscape, he's bringing guests as well. Boys, can you hear us?
We can hear you. Thanks for having us. How are you, boys?
Nice to see you, Connor. I don't know. Remind us, Lean Clean, what we were talking about when you mentioned Connor's name. I think he was one of those glue players at the footy club, wasn't it?
Yeah, it was. Well, other than the fact that he's the hardest bloke in the company to get a kick on, it was about, yeah, that he's the best blue guy as well, connects the group really, really well, and we're lucky to have him.
He was calling me a loud mouth, wasn't he? I think he might have been. He was getting to that. So how does that make you feel? Are you flattered by what Tom Green just had to say about you, Connor?
Yeah, definitely.

Chapter 7: How do players cope with a coaching change?
I think it's something I hear from a lot of the boys. So definitely wear it as a badge of honour and something I don't take lightly. But I guess I've got a lot of energy and the boys energise me a lot. So yeah, I love coming into work every day and they make it easy for me.
So if somebody wants to, if you hear that there's somebody out there that maybe is entertaining the idea of leaving the Giants, are you the bloke that they have to go through before they walk out the door? Are you the last one?
I guess if they're even thinking about it, I haven't done my job right. So, you know, we want to make this a place that no one ever wants to leave. And as I said, great place to work. We work hard, but it's fun. So if people even entertain that, we probably haven't done our job right.
Well, you're not here for an easy ride, Connor. No.
Chapter 8: What opportunities arise from change in a football club?
We are hard hitting with Lean Clean. Love it. We want to get stuck into it. Next year when we introduce the team, what are they going to be called, Lean Clean? Because the greater Western Sydney is not resonating, we're told. It doesn't hit the mark. So what are you going to rename yourselves?
Yeah, I think there's been a bit of talk about that, hasn't there? Just being the Giants, which I think would help us encapsulate, you know, Western Sydney is our home and I don't think that we'll ever really lose that with the amount of work that we do in the community and the strong connection that we sort of have built and are building in Western Sydney.
But the more people that we can encapsulate, whether that's just in Sydney, but all of New South Wales and as many Giants supporters as we like, it's something that I think we're open to and I mean, I personally don't have a really strong affiliation with either way. I'm just happy. I feel blessed to pull in our colours and excited to run out every time.
Do you feel like, Connor, do you feel like that you've been embraced into the community out there? I mean, this is what we hear. So you can correct us if you like. We hear that the Giants boys only ever go to the greater Western Sydney to train and that's it. And then they head back to the beaches, the eastern beaches. Is this a situation or not?
Well, you're not fully wrong. We do live out east near the beaches, a lot of us, as close to Bondi as possible. But as you said, we do train out west and then do a lot of community stuff out west. So I think I've been at the club eight years now and I've definitely seen it grow out west. There's a lot more fans that recognise you out west. When you go to schools, they're a bit more engaged.
So we've been putting a lot of work in. I think it is growing the game, that's for sure.
So how many times a month would you do, say, football clinics and engage with the public out there? Roughly. It's a good question.
I reckon it's probably... We'd have something almost every week, I think, someone, you know, whether it's just a couple of boys or whether it's the whole squad, I'd say there'd be something just about weekly where we're out in the community.
And that takes, like, a lot of different forms, whether that's, I don't know, certain council meetings or whether that's going and meeting with, you know, local mayors or going to schools, as Conor was saying, doing clinics, that sort of thing. There'd be something almost weekly, I reckon, that there'd be a Giants presence out in the West beyond just, you know...
