Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Our next guest for Power Bay. Power Bay delivers eco-friendly heat pumps, solar systems and batteries to cut energy costs and support sustainability. The CEO of the storm is Justin Rodsky. Justin, thanks for your time. Morning, Kane. Morning, Kingy. Good to be with you. What a challenge. Unfamiliar territory. We have been following with interest, Justin. Where have you been?
I've been available every week. Our media guys have rung into the double E and said to him, mate, if you want Justin to come on, he's ready and available. But... The invitation hasn't been accepted, so thank you for having me on finally.
Well, you're here now. What's been the biggest issue in your eyes that sees you in such unfamiliar territory this year?
It is unfamiliar. It's sort of definitely uncharted. I think it's been a combination of things. We've had some bizarre injuries to some key players, which clearly hasn't helped us. We've had some inexperience in the team and some players playing out of position, which hasn't helped us, and
ultimately our our best players our leaders have been a little bit inconsistent in their performances as well so you know in the seven losses that we had in a row and five of them were up at half time and we're in good positions to win the game and we just weren't good enough to do that on the night so um it's a combination of things and obviously we've had the challenges with craig's health as well that's now come become public it's uh you know it's another layer to everything that's going on but you know as a club we're
Working our way through it, sticking together and you learn a lot about yourself through challenging times and I'm pretty confident that we can come out the other end and it started last week with a good win against the West Tigers. Have you turned into Carlton? Up at half-time, can't get the job done? I don't know, half-time memberships? No, look, I don't think so.
I think, again, there was a combination of reasons why that took place and I think that we've done the work now to make sure that we resurrect that and that doesn't happen again into the future for the rest of this season. Now, Magic Round, everyone's up here, so clearly you guys are up here.
You didn't get out and about last night and have a look at some rugby league fans and how they're tracking? I actually snuck down to the Gabba to have a look at the Cats-Lions game, to be honest. So that was good, a nice invitation from the Lions to come down and have a look. So it was good. The Cats were very impressive, weren't they?

Chapter 2: What challenges is the Melbourne Storm facing this season?
They were, they were. Now, you've got the Parramatta Eels. Give us a little heads up on what's likely to come to us there.
Yeah Saturday night so we're the third game Saturday night so hopefully not too much rain as you guys know every Magic Round game in the NRL is played at the same venue so when there's a lot of Queensland rain it can really chop up the surface so hopefully the rain holds off and yeah look you know we beat them pretty convincingly in round one so we're hoping that with our full spine in and the momentum and confidence that we'll take from last week that we can get the job done on Saturday night and then
All of a sudden, we're only taking it one week at a time, but there's plenty of time left in the season to make a run for the finals.
So that's the plan at this stage. Shopping the broadcast rights around the place at the moment. Justin, where do you think this is all going to land?
Yeah, it's an interesting period, isn't it? I think that the game's never been in a better place in terms of... having those discussions and negotiations, whether or not they carve out certain games or time slots to streamers or to a new broadcaster is going to be really interesting to see. We are going to have an extra game.
So we've got Perth Bears coming in next year and then the following year we've got the Papua New Guinea Chiefs. So there's an opportunity there for the NRL to carve out a particular night, whether it's a Sunday night or a Monday night, and take that to an independent broadcaster that could hopefully help increase the value of that broadcast deal.
As you guys both know, the media deal is so important to both the AFL and the NRL, so you've got to maximise the broadcast rights, and that's obviously something that the powers to be, Peter Volandis and Andrew Abdo, are currently doing on behalf of the clubs and the game, so hopefully there's a good result.
Be careful not to bite the hand that feeds you, K.O., being pretty good for you, I would have thought, but we can agree to disagree on that one. We can agree to disagree on that one. Can you talk to us about how the coach is with his health really quickly? Just give us an update on how he's tracking, how he's going really quick. He's going pretty well.
It's one of those things that we don't fully know exactly the extent of what it is or how long it's going to impact him and the time it's going to take. But certainly from an overall health point of view and from a coaching point of view, he's as committed and passionate as ever. He's coming into work every day and he's focused on the job at hand.
