So what we brought you on the agenda setters last night, and if you missed it, what we can tell you this morning, is six of the names that are certain to be contacted by Essendon to be part of the process to select their next coach. Now, some of these names may already have been contacted directly, but I know that these people are part of Essendon's short-ish list is probably the best way to describe it. So Hayden Skipworth, who's currently at Collingwood. He's the head of strategy at the Pies, does have a loose connection with the Bombers from a while ago. James Kelly played for the Bombers at the back end of his career, obviously more well-known for his time at Geelong, where he's now an assistant coach.
James Heard, who we can discuss in a few moments. Mark McVay, who's at the Swans, he's been at the Giants, and is a close friend of Andrew Welsh, but beyond his friendship, he's actually really highly regarded by other people at Essendon.
He, if we just pause here for a second, Oregon Spike is seriously one to watch. Now has kept a low profile. Maybe we should be talking about him more. I reckon he will go, this is crystal balling. I reckon he'll go really deep in the process. It could be close.
So we did an emergency fireball pod with Kingy and Kane the day that Brad Scott got sacked. And I just floated the possibility. And it was more of a probability than a possibility at the time that in the end, you can have a combination of Heard, McVay and Solomon maybe, all fighting for the same job when they're all close friends. And that would be really interesting. I think that's red hot. I'm with you completely on McVay, Sam. Corey Enright doesn't have a connection to Essendon, but he's Ross Lyons 2IC at the Saints. He'll be involved in the Carlton process as well. And Jamie Graham, who's currently at Freo, was at West Coast, didn't Didn't miss out on the Collingwood job, which Craig McRae got in 2021 by a lot.
In fact, good judges say if he'd been able to interview in person rather than via Zoom, because it was a COVID time, then he might have been even able to pip Craig McRae for that job. So those six names. Can you add any more that you know of for sure?
