Chapter 1: What is Tom Green's current situation and recovery status?
breakfast with gary and tim the imar trade-off questions without notice for imar protecting tradies and builders for over 35 years call 13 imar to get covered today including tom green's in the studio with us uh recovering from a knee reconstruction and um that is sad for footy lovers but he'll be back bigger and better than ever
But he's also going to be the benefit of some great wisdom from Tim Watson, who's a funny, articulate man who can read a room. He can hold five and six hundred lean clean in the palm of his hand with some of his stuff. You've got a big emceeing event. What's your style? What's your emcee style?
Well, we're about to figure it out. That's what I'm trying to find out. I've got something that's authentic to myself, but I'm not too sure how I'm going to run with. So any advice is welcome.
Chat GPT. No. I've just put it into the search engine. Look, whole page has come up there for you, Tom. You can't go wrong.
Chapter 2: What insights can Tim Watson provide as a mentor?
Just read it straight from the phone.
Okay, so you wouldn't have been up. His most recent success was hosting for thousands at Sultrums, and he got up to host.
220. Oh, you tell the story.
No, I'm going to go. No, you tell the story. I'm leading you in.
I'm embarrassed to tell the story.
I'm leading you into it. Don't lead me anywhere. He got up to a standing ovation, right?
Hang on. Just on that point.
You weren't there.

Chapter 3: What is Tom Green's emceeing style and upcoming event?
You weren't there.
All right, you tell the story. George, who you've just met, Tom, he organized the standing ovation. He said, look, when the whisk gets up, he likes to have a standing ovation, which is very true. So they all got out of their seats and they gave me a massive standing ovation. And I said.
And this is the key to emceeing. You only get one chance for a first impression. That's right. So the wisp wound it up and?
And you've got to think on your feet. And I said, well, the last time I got a standing ovation is when I ā Oh, no. Oh, no. Hang on.
Chapter 4: Who is considered the best GWS Giant in history?
The last time I got a standing ovation is when I told the St Kilda players I was quitting as coach.
And the room went up.
It went up as one. Something along those lines.
Something along those lines. I'll have to figure something out then. It should be a good event, though, the Anzac Day lunch that we've got at the War Memorial for the Giants. It'll be great. I'm looking forward to it.
Right, questions without notice. Toby Green, is he the best GWS giant that's ever played the game? He plays game number 268?
I think that sounds right, yeah.
He goes past Callum Ward. Is he the best giant ever?

Chapter 5: What makes Toby Green a standout player?
I think so, yeah. I think now he's also got the longevity. I mean, if he's passing Wardy for games played, and there are some fantastic players. I mean, the other one who probably goes really close is Jeremy Cameron, who doesn't quite have the longevity of the Giants, but what he did in his time was unbelievable. But for me, Toby's the best giant that's ever played the game.
What makes Toby great in your mind? His decision-making. I think if you look at him on the field, he's a super smart player. I mean, we also know his competitiveness. I mean, all the greats, as you guys know, they're super-duper competitive. And I'm not telling anyone anything I don't know about Toby that he's really competitive. But he's a super smart footballer.
And he also has a really ā the best players also stand up in big moments. And we know that's exactly what Toby does. So it's probably his decision-making, his ability to perform under pressure.
Chapter 6: What are the challenges of player conditioning and return from injury?
Summed him up well.
Just want to back over the conversation we had previously. So you'd be a big fan of ā the AFL making a blanket ruling to say the pre-season starts on the 1st of January?
Not quite blanket rule. I think that there's maybe some markers that maybe young players and guys who maybe if they're not in the right shape, they need to come back slightly early. But I think for the vast majority of the playing group who's coming back in really good shape, I think there's no need to get back.
And the 1st of January, then no breaks after that.
You start and then... Once you're back jam one, you can just roll from there, I think, and roll straight in.
Just to drill down a little bit further on that, in your experience in the time you've been involved in football... How often has, and you don't need to name the player, but how often has a player come back after a break in bad shape? Well, that's the thing.
It's actually reasonably irregular. I mean, if you've got a list of 44 guys, it might be one, one or two, two absolute max every preseason. So the vast, vast majority are doing the right thing every time.

Chapter 7: How does Tom Green view the future of AFL expansion?
Same ones? Sometimes you've got repeat offenders, yeah.
Are they still at the club? We won't go any further than that. I'm only joking. We talked earlier about some, if we were naming a state of origin squad, the additions that perhaps wouldn't have been there when we named this squad at the start of the year. Justin McInerney's the poster boy and probably the Wizard Watson. Have you got a name?
I do. For mine, it'd be Josh Tracy. I mean, it's horrific to see Sam Darcy go down with an ACL as well. We never want to see that. And that's probably costing me spot in this initial one. But for me, it'd be Josh Tracy. He's fantastic.
Chapter 8: What are Tom Green's thoughts on coaching and player development?
I said the other week, Gary, I do love the big marking key forwards. That's why I love you. He's just about as good there is in the game with that sort of thing and the presence that he plays with. So for mine, it'd be Josh Tracy. He's got an aggression about the way that he plays too, hasn't he?
Oh, yeah. Hey, can I ask you a question, Gary? Please. And this is a very sensitive question, and it's an in-house type question. Look at the body language. But I believe there's somebody in our building that might have gone and bought themselves a new right-on mower. Not a new one, but they went on Marketplace, bought themselves a second-hand one. Yep.
And it's not the brand that we have all been instructed to buy- That is true. And use to mow our lawn.
That's disgusting. Is this true? Yeah, that's disgusting. What should happen to this person? That's disgusting, Simo.
I was going to say, who said person?
I let that slip. Oh, dear, oh, dear. Well, let's take the news. Oh, dear. Going to have to tidy that up. Take the news.

It's a joy getting to chat with Tommy Green here and learn and understand a bit more about his life. He's emceeing the Anzac Day function for the Giants, which we had a little bit of fun with. But there's a very good reason behind it. And the family history, particularly around this time of year with Anzac Day, is really strong, Tommy.
Yeah, yeah. So my dad is a helicopter pilot in the army. And so we moved around a lot growing up, which was good fun. It makes you really tight knit as a family. But yeah, having that connection makes Anzac Day and the events like this even more special. So Blackhawks? Yeah, Blackhawk pilot.
