In the space of 12 months, she married her long-term partner and music collaborator, Matthew Copley, represented Australia at Eurovision, where she placed fourth in the grand final, and performed at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Now she's adding a few more things to the list, including a new album and a world tour.

On today's episode of the Stellar Podcast, Delta takes us behind the scenes into what really goes on into performing on some of the world's biggest stages. how she's learnt to handle pressure and criticism, and why after more than twenty years in the industry she believes the best is still to come. Delta Goodrum, welcome back to the Stellar Podcast. Oh, thank you so much, Sarah. Thank you for having me. As you and I speaking, it's not too long since your last triumphant moment, which was uh performing at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Of course, we're going to talk about Eurovision. Since we last spoke, Delta, you've also gotten married, you've announced a new album and a world tour, and you've just shot.
your ninth stellar cover. So obviously my first question is, what are what are you doing with all your spare time, Delta?
Well, you know, in my spare time I'm normally packing a suitcase or lifting a suitcase or sitting in an airport and that's kind of been my uh that's been the in betweens.
It's a glamorous life, isn't it? I tell you what, yeah, people only planes,
trains, then automobiles, you know, but um But uh yes, it is a busy time, but I don't take that for granted and I our feet have not hit the ground at the moment. We've definitely been running, but we we like to make it home wherever we are, you know, no matter no matter what country or city or environment I'm in. I'm I'm lucky I get to travel with my husband as well. And and you know, when we when we're blessed to get to travel with a couple more members of the team because it is a team sport music, believe it or not, it is a team sport when we have um the team with us together, you know. we're a small but mighty team does make it feel like home and and we all sort of have our little nuances that make it feel like we're a travelling you know, a travelling party and
Matt and I sort of always, you know, we we bring our Apple T V, we bring ASOP everywhere with us, we bring we have our couple of things and any room we go in, we sort of try to make it feel like it's the same in you know, there's an energy in the environment. So
You making it to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest. I gotta tell you, back home here in Australia, you know, it really did feel like the World Cup, where people were getting up early in the morning or in some cases staying up all night. What is it like for you to be on the receiving end of, yes, of course, that outpouring of love and support, but also the pressure and the expectations? expectation that it brings with it.
Honestly, Sarah, I think at this point with all the different seasons of growing up with everybody, to feel that love and support in this in that moment and feel that energy from Australia, I felt it with all my heart. And I felt it like I felt what it was that like that push that like it's as if everyone had the Australian flag and was waving with me. And I felt it spiritually. I I could feel it from Vienna, even though I had to sort of move my phone into another room because it had just been a you know quite an experience of electricity electricity heading towards and I've I was overwhelmed with the love and support and the cheer on it. And it felt like a really aligning moment where I was ready and I was like, let's go, let's do what I love to do.
