Chapter 2: What are the playoff predictions for the Eastern Conference?
One more year, Biz. I was hot and cold. And the thing, too, is I said that I could see him not wanting that final tour like Jeter got. He deserves it. But... I was hot and cold whether he was going to retire or not. But by the end and just kind of seeing how emotionless he was about it, where there weren't a lot of tears, he was very even keel.
I leaned toward, I think this guy's for sure coming back.
And I think if the admin guy didn't put out that it was Ovi's last year, would we even be having this conversation?
He got 30 goals. I know. It is weird how it just kind of started all of a sudden. Nothing was said. His quote was, to be honest with you, I'm pretty sure it's not my last game. I hope it's not my last game against Columbus. He said this Thursday, how I said I have a...
how i said i have to make a decision to see where we're at team family obviously family going to support me he said his kids have been asking him if he's staying and i think it's if the kids are like dad no no that's what gets him to play another year i would i would actually pay for a subscription to see what he like consumes um like food and alcohol wise in his office well crosby was on mcafee today and he he said like i wish i could have all these diet yeah
I don't think Ovi really cares. Ovi probably shouldn't have Ovi's diet, but he don't care. But Sid's like, yeah, I wish I could have a Dr. Pepper and a Subway Sub and a giant chocolate chip cookie. I said it last pod. I think that when you play as long as he did and you've done what you've done for the game like he did, you should be able to use steroids. Yes. I love that. That was a great take.
100%. Or something if you, like, once you score 500, you're allowed to get on the needle. Like, not the Ozempic needle, just like the straight steroid needle. It's like, okay, man. You might need both. Yes, he combines it. Just a nice little concoction. Dr. Kevorkian. But we'll see. We'll see.
Before we get into the East playoff preview, Matthews, very noncommittal about his future with the Leafs. This was today during the exit meetings. He said, I mean, I can't predict the future. Obviously, there's steps that's going to have to take place. They got to hire new leadership at management, stuff like that. I don't really know. There's always noise and there's always chatter.
I think personally, I really don't pay attention to all that. I just focus on myself, focus on this team, and I try to be a part of the solution. That end part's good. Now, the part that isn't great, I think every Leaf fan would agree, was the article that came out this week. Myrtle, Jonas, and Chris Johnson.

Chapter 3: What are the key factors influencing the Penguins vs. Flyers matchup?
He's out for the whole series. Out for the whole series. I just read today. And he came in and he was fighting. He was scoring. That was a huge loss. Huge loss. Because that... What is it? It's... what do we got, Kastelik with Janot, and who's the other fourth liner on Boston G? Corrales. Sean Corrales.
Corrales.
That's a bunch of big dudes where Carrick would have been in the mix there battling that, but fuck, man. I think it's just Buffalo's time.
Chapter 4: How do injuries impact team dynamics in the playoffs?
I think Boston, if Pasta... Now, Pasta has had his detractors in the playoffs. I think Bruins fans are always like, Pasta doesn't show up in the playoffs. pasta could like win this series for him. If he's just incredible, like it might be, I think, I think page Thompson's comparable. I think overall pasta is a better player. Say pasta is the best forward in this series.
I think for Boston to win, he would have to go light, like lights out. Um, I think Buffalo's winning this series, but I think it's going seven. I also have, obviously, Buffalo winning this series. And as big as the meatheads you said on the back end are for Boston. I said Buffalo as well.
It's crazy.
You went through it when I was putting my Buffalo goat head jersey on. I think Buffalo might be bigger. This might be the biggest back end series of all time.
Chapter 5: What predictions are made for the Bruins vs. Sabres series?
The one thing I do like about Buffalo is I feel like their back end is more mobile. You got Bo Byram who can move up and down the ice. Darlene who can move up and down the ice. That Samuelson can move as well. So they got some guys powering that shutdown role now, and he's been excelling in that, as Whit mentioned a few pods ago about that article that was written.
I just think that we keep wanting to think, oh, okay, there's going to be a step back for Buffalo. Boys, since early December, nine losses. There's a reason. There's a reason. And Whit's a mush. What do you think about the aspect of they haven't been in playoff hockey and the difference? They haven't won a series since 06, 07.
So that's the key is I think that Boston will have the ability to try to suck them into the mud and make it physical. A lot of fights and a lot of distractions where Buffalo, yeah, there's going to be times where you have to push back. and you're going to have to answer the bell.
But it's about being disciplined, making sure you're taking the power plays, and you're not getting sucked into the bullshit too much. That has to be an element to it. I think that the back end and that mobility will play a factor in how they cycle in the offensive zone. They get those five-man cycles and can create a lot of problems defensively for Boston because they are the slower team.
The one key, though, also for Buffalo – Boston all season long with Sturm's system through the neutral zone is they force you to dump it. They force you to play that boring game. And sometimes Buffalo, they want to play that run and gun, snap it around. Oh, look at us, free zone entries. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you're not being given the line and you have to dump it, don't force plays.
Don't play in the Boston system where they're going to create those turnovers. They're going to go back the other way and make you pay. You're going to have to dump it in. You're going to have to go fucking chase it down and play physical and get it back. and you can't cheat the game in that regard.
So if they don't get sucked in and kind of lose what they have to have for as far as a mentality when it comes to playing against a team like Boston, I think that they're going to be in good shape. So I got Buffalo. I need them to beat the fuck out of Boston to not only that, But fuck you and your fifth overall, or your top five protected bullshit that you guys are coming after the Leafs.
So that's why. Back to the Leafs. It's back to the Leafs. You're going to get beat in the first round, and you're not getting our pick. Boston did kind of work them this year, 3-0-1. Two of them. Swayman only played in one game, too. Two of the wins, though, were in, I think, October, when Buffalo was the old Buffalo. So it doesn't really count, considering how different they are.
Hot take for me is someone takes a suspension on Darlene or Darlene gets suspended in this series. Oh, someone does something and he's doing something. Darlene is going to be a menace. That's like why I'm picking Buffalo because I think... And granted, he hasn't played in the playoffs. I think it's going to be just such a coming out party for fans around the league that...

Chapter 6: What are some memorable stories shared by Joey Kocur?
Because offensive D, man, you got to imagine Keenan in a couple of bad pinches. He's fucking losing his melon.
I don't think... He didn't bother the Russians too much other than Kovalev on that one play. But nothing bothered... Nothing bothered Zuby. Nothing bothered Leachie. The fact that he was benched pissed everybody else off on the ice because I don't care what he does, he can make up for it. And Keenan was just flexing his muscles at that point and...
We had, we couldn't say much about it at that time, but, uh, I guess we could say it worked because we, we won the cup that year. Imagine how good Zubov and Leach would be nowadays with like the freedom that D-men have. It would be a joke. And maybe put Nick Lindstrom with them too. I had some pretty good D-men that I got to play with. Jesus. Yeah.
Well, I was just going to talk more about Zubov because Jans was saying like rarely back then would a guy get the green light to like make a move at the blue line where you're seeing like Lane Hudson's coming in like first shift of the, you know, his first game he's ever played.
Chapter 7: How did Joey Kocur transition back to the NHL after playing in the minors?
He's doing jukes at the blue line. Was that kind of how Zuby was where you guys would go out on him and he'd be like, whoop, make a mess. Like, was it fun to watch like an and one mixtape tour hot sauce going at it?
He was, he was so smooth and he wasn't scared of making a mistake and he didn't make very many, but, uh, yeah, he did. He did a lot of stuff at the blue line that most defensemen wouldn't do. I mean, the other guys like Jay Wells and Jeff Booker boom and Doug Lidster, they weren't doing that stuff at the blue line. They were getting it in deep.
Yeah.
Who were you playing with mostly on your line in that run?
Probably Nemchinov and McTavish, McT.
Okay. And McT, no bucket. It was just wild to look back and see the final face-off, right? Or one of the face-offs.

Chapter 8: What insights does Joey Kocur provide about his experiences in hockey?
I think it was Mess was the final one.
I don't know. It might have been McT that took that final draw.
Okay. But was he the only guy in the league then with no bucket still?
I believe so. I think he was the last one of the dinosaurs to not wear a bucket.
And people say that he'd like still like he'd like headbutt guys with helmets on.
I don't know.
Didn't he say that, like, he put it on at one point and then Guy's sticks were coming up, so then he took it back off again? I think he got hit first game, first practice he did it. He got, like, stitches in his chin. He's like, fuck this. Helmet back off.
Well, you know what? When you see a guy without a helmet, you are a lot more careful on the ice. And that's, maybe they should all take them off today in today's game and get rid of all that ice sticking and chippiness.
I think Richter, too, on that team doesn't get enough credit that he deserves with how good he played. I mean, he was obviously an amazing goalie, but that whole playoff run, he was incredible.
