And we are here with what is our final episode. Of our Long, illustrious. trying to think of it s I should have thought up some more adjectives before I jumped on here. But it was cool. It was cool. Our roster rundown series. We're on the final episode, man. This is it. This is it. And uh I mean it's a good one. Plenty of question marks at the secondary uh that we need to get into. But before we get into that, um I would be remiss. I would be um not doing my job as both a a Forty Niners guy and a human guy to uh To not give a little shout out, little bit of a an R I P to Alden Smith, man.
That's uh That's a uh that's a tough one. That's a tough one. Obviously, I mean It doesn't even really need to be mentioned. Obviously he led a led a troubled life. He had his own struggles, just like we all do, and they all come in different forms, but Dude had a big heart, man. Dude had a big heart and he was undoubtedly Without question, one of the most talented players to ever put on a 49ers uniform. Um, just an absolute freak in terms of a football player. I mean that in and in terms of like the person, the dude spent his last hours on earth delivering pizza to a charity. Like, you know what I mean? Like That's heartbreaking and uh you know it's it's hard to think about. If you think like just think about it, man.
If you were if you knew your time was coming. Um and and that is what and it not he didn't know, but it's like just the fact that that's how his story ends up being written is is that's what he was doing during his last moments on earth. It's just pretty special. You know, we can't we can't all go out like that. Um as far as the football players goes, I just watched it recently. I don't know if you've seen this, KP, but have you seen where Joe Staley was interviewing Trent Williams? And Joe Staley asked Trent Williams who the most difficult player he ever went against was. And Trent Williams was kinda like prefacing it a little bit. He was kind of saying, like, well, I mean There's someone I'm about to say, and I think it would probably surprise a lot of people.
And then Joe Staley goes, Hold on, hold on, hold on. Let's let's both say the name. Wow. Uh, on the count of three. Did you have you seen this? No, I haven't, but no, and because Trent's you could tell that Trent knows what he's about to say is going to surprise a lot of folks. Everybody thinks like Miles Garrett or something. Um, and Joe Staley's like, wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on. Before you say it, let's count the three and we'll both say the name at the same time. One, two, three. Alden Smith and they both say the same name. Okay, I do remember that now, yeah. And um you know, which says a lot, man, and I mean in terms of just the way he looked, like His arms were just so long, man. And because he played outside linebacker, he got to get in that two point stance and just kind of lean forward and that like almost uh you know, an upright sprinting stance.
And it was just there was just something intimidating about it, man. So um but obviously, like I said, uh rest in peace to Alden Smith, man.

He was uh he was one of a kind in every way, shape, or form.
Yeah, I mean, just the football player, like he literally set records for the Forty Niners and still holds franchise records for Sacks in the first two seasons for the Forty Niners. Obviously, everybody wanted to work out a different way. We'd probably be talking about him in a much different light if it did. But the fact that we can still celebrate him and I I I think we should just celebrate him and not focus on or not bring up some of the bads, the negative that that took place along the ride because I mean, just again, athletically, the stats that he put up, the way that he can move, the things that he did for Staley, for Trent Williams to say the things that they did about him is is pretty telling.
