do not worry about your clocks it is five o'clock we are on early because the game is that big we managed to drag two of the most popular men in Scottish football away from whatever they had going on this afternoon to make sure we had you all covered I'm joined by Andy Halliday and Roger Hanna there is only going to be one of three outcomes today Gordon
A Hearts win, they are three clear with three to play. A Rangers win, there is one point between the top three with three to play. A draw and Martin O'Neill can come out from behind the back of the couch, which is where he said he would be watching this afternoon's games. This is, as big as it comes, this is the biggest game
of the most incredible season in scottish football in 40 years it's funny you say that because andy halliday was just telling me he's going to watch it from beneath this desk so he's in good company i know and i don't even know where to start tonight can we even review yesterday's games can we even do beat the pundit can we even talk about the pfa scotland player of the year winners last night such as the magnitude of this game it's going to be an absolutely monumental occasion for the longest time we felt as if it's a three horse title race after tonight it could only be two
It is a bit different for us, as Andy said. We're not used to having any league game on a Monday night, never mind one of this size at this time. But we're here for you anyway until eight o'clock. Yeah, there was a very familiar sight in the fact that Hibs get a red card. I know that's for now in the last three games. I thought Celtic make fairly hard work of it to try and really put the sword to Hibs. We're obviously in a situation as well that it's quite possible that this league title does go down to goal difference. So it felt as if it was a real chance for Celtic to rack up the goals.

Well it's got to be Scov Olsen I think it was maybe two or three Mondays ago that I
I said at that point in time that it's clear that Rangers aren't going to exercise their option to buy him in the summer so is it really worth it to be playing him in these games when you've seen more of I'm not saying it's been outstanding consistency levels but you've seen more of Asgard and Gassama when they've been given that opportunity he's not even came off the bench the last three league games so there certainly is a real element of surprise to be seeing him it's a big call for Daniel
and the captain's back in, but then maybe an element of that hand being forced, there's no Jadon Magoma, Tour Romans only fit enough to be amongst the subs, so presumably Dujon Sterling plays the left back.
Yeah, I did think that Tour Romans would play, though the chat was that he did train last week before the game at Motherwell, and he felt it as if he'd just missed out due to a lack of fitness going into that game, so he felt with a full week's training under his belt, that I was anticipating him to start, but like you said, when you've seen James Tavenier's
name on the starting line up there was an element of surprise because you thought obviously Dujon Sterling would occupy that right back slot but when you see when Jamie Magoma is not on the bench then obviously it's just Dujon Sterling moving over to the other side

Chapter 4: What key moments define the first half of the match?
You can see almost... Roger, in fact Andy can come in and correct us, he knows more about these things, but it is kind of similar styles from them both. They are both quite direct. You know, we look at when Motherwell went and got their success last week at Ibrox, they play so differently.

It's probably opened up the way the whole game's going to be played because Hearts, you would think, would have more of the ball and Rangers will look to hit them on the counter-attack, I would think. Hearts will rely a lot on set pieces.
You've already seen the long throw into the box. They'll try and get free kicks. They'll try and get corners. There's nothing to map with that when you've got Finlay and Halkett to add to the threat of Shanklin and Braga. So it will be, as we said earlier on, a really interesting tactical battle. It's interesting that Danny Rose added a third midfielder.
It's Diamandi, who will be closest to Cermete probably. And we just need to see which... Which gaffer comes out in top?
It would take a brave man to bet against a goal for a set piece today. That's for sure. The two strongest teams for set plays by a country mile this season. You can see there's a lot of height, there's a lot of athleticism, big powerful boys in that team. You've got to see, I do think Hearts have settled slightly. They're better in the game but no chances as of yet.
It gives Rangers a bit more space when they go up the pitch. It's really good defending though. From...
Kiziridis over on the right hand side that's what surprised me that's why I was trying to get my bearings he does brilliantly Andy because it's maybe not the bit that he's famed for going back the way he did excellent the only thing I must say that I'm surprised about is that Kiziridis is on the right hand side so he's on the right hand side up against Dujan Sterling and I don't think we see many of Dujan Sterling taking on Kiziridis in this game which is what we've just seen there Dujan Sterling trying to drag on he's
unfavoured left side but it's good defending by Kiziridis I did think you're looking at individual battles within the game and I thought that James Tavenier Kiziridis on the left hand side for Hearts I think could have been a really key battle for them but it's interesting to see that he's playing on the right side early in the game

It came from a headed flick on from a James Tavernier long throw, the makeshift left back got good contact on the ball goalwards, he deflected off Hearts defender Michael Steinbender, looked up in over Alexander Shvolov, a few boos there for the referees as they come off but that goal silence this place, Gordon, after 20 or so minutes.
Rangers since then have just been taking the pace out of the game. It's certainly going to plan for Danny Rule's men so far. It was a really end-to-end start. You could feel the atmosphere and energy flooding down from the stands onto the pitch.
it's very scrappy a very direct game as well not much being created from open play for either team the best chances have all come from dead balls for the hosts Craig Halkett headed over after 10 minutes a great ball in from a Mark Bennett free kick Halkett had to hit the target 10 minutes after that Tochi Chukwani had a free header inside a six yard box from a
corner he wasn't really steady Gordon a sitter if you're being honest but Rangers controlled the last 10 minutes there the crowd here agitated you can hear them they know how much this means they're certainly nerves amongst the supporters Derek McInnes manager of the year as we know yesterday He's got a huge half-time team talk here. They've got to improve.
They've not had enough composure at all across the pitch. Nothing sticking up top. A massive 45 coming up in the title race. How pivotal could it prove to be when deciding where the trophy will go at the end of this campaign? At the interval, it's hearts nil, Rangers one.

Ryan Adiri returning from injury to massive players since their arrival in January. Will we see them at some point? And surely McInnes is going to shuffle the pack. The attacking formation that he went for with the players hasn't really worked so far. Perhaps he's going to stick with it for another 15, 20 minutes. But the teams are not back out on the park yet, Gordon.

Chapter 7: What tactical changes did Rangers fail to implement effectively?
Chukwani, Raskin and Diamande in midfield, three that's worked well so far. Scott Olsen and Moore flanking Chimiti, who is through the middle. It is 1-0 Rangers. They are in control, but it's Hart who is still in control of the title race as things stand. Will it change and what will it mean for it all with Celtic watching on as well? What a huge 45 minutes indeed can Hearts get themselves back into this everyone said going into the game a draw wouldn't be the worst for them a win for Hearts would see off Rangers but as things stand it would be a massive win for Rangers and one which puts them very much back in the picture that everybody said they had vacated when they lost last weekend that is just going to be the way of things what do you make of that change Andy Halliday?
Yeah, like I said, not too surprised. It's a change that Derek McInnes has made a lot this season. They've felt they've not quite got control of the middle of the pitch and he doesn't want to sacrifice one of his strikers. Quite often he'll play Blair Spittle as that kind of inside wide midfielder, shall we say, where he tries to tuck in and be an extra body in there.
And then, likewise, he can still drift out in the wider areas when they're on the ball to try and put deliveries into the box. If we felt that Hearts were going to be a bit more calm, then just go and watch their kick-off.
they've done it in Madhavi last year where they flick up they kick it as high as they possibly can but now they're in the box do you know what Braga did unbelievably well to get the better of Jiga who then did unbelievably well to get the better of him in return you're pointing at the TV Roger Hart no I'm just going to ask Andy if Hart's gone to a three is it Steinwender Halkett and Finlay because he's a right wing back Kingsley at left wing back and Spittle getting in the middle just to the side of
Leonard and Beningame yeah they're certainly building up as a 3-8 it'll be interesting to see how it looks when they're out of possession good ball in from Kingsley we hadn't really seen anything like that and you can already see I know it's a minute and a half in but it hurts to look like they've got a bit more of an intent about them Andy yeah definitely the difference is is that listen they were playing in Rangers half in the first half but they didn't have players in Rangers half to then
gain territory and win any first and second balls but now they've got everyone in Rangers half they're camping Rangers in and it's now up to Rangers to try and show a bit of composure to work their way up the pitch but on the first two occasions and then there's a third there Rangers are just slashing the ball and giving them it back
Yeah, well, Hearts clearly needed to do something. They have tweaked things, personnel and shape, by the looks of it. And even at that, if you can squeeze some extra percent out of the individuals, surely things will improve, because it was a very disappointing opening 45 from the Jambos, and it remains Hearts 0, Rangers 1.

Chapter 8: What does this match mean for the title race in Scottish football?
He was brought in in January to quite a lot of fanfare. That's not worked out either.
I mean, they started the season with young Adam Forrester out right back and they've gone through them all. As you say, Steinwender, Altena, McEntee. It is a position that Derek McInnes doesn't seem that happy about. I thought Altena, when he was brought in, as you say, with a bit of a fanfare from Valvik in the Netherlands in January, he's just not quite done it.
And they've gone back with McEntee out, they've gone back to Steinwender again today and he's not really answered the question.
We've seen Derek McInnes just a minute before halftime scribble furiously into his notepad and it wouldn't surprise me one bit that if his instruction at halftime was put more crosses into the box because Do you think that's what he'd written down?

Well it certainly feels that way because any time now that Hearts are getting into the wide area they're just putting in and there's an R when it comes in Probably a disappointing one because he doesn't need time to put a bit more deliberate thought into where that one was going but he almost over hit it and then it goes out but Hearts do still have it
Yeah and I think that's five or six crosses already they've put in at Rangers box and Rangers have defended relatively well the one that they didn't obviously lead to that long Shanklin shot at the edge of the box but it's been a much more a much improved hearts performance in this opening seven minutes you can see here we've got the
the little graphic up the action areas it's all been played in Rangers half and it's now up to Rangers to try and come up with a solution try and gain a wee bit of control try and work their way up the pitch again but at this moment in time they're just giving the ball back to Hearts yeah bringing the edge of the box doesn't usually shoot Braga might though and it's low and it's held by Jack Butland it was a fairly routine save
but it's about as close as Hearts have come in this game. Well, it is as close as Hearts have come in that. It's the first save Jack Butland's been required to make. Beringa made good on the edge of the box. Shanklin involved just there. He worked in space for Braga. There were Rangers players round about him. He got a shot away.
And listen, it's one that Butland's going to save, but I think Hearts can take encouragement from it, Gordon.
