Chapter 1: What happened in the controversial Celtic vs. Motherwell match?
0141 951 1025 It's time to talk football It's Clyde One Super Scoreboard
Good evening and welcome to Clyde One Super Scoreboard As we look back on one of the most dramatic nights in Scottish football in many a year The top two will go head to head in a final day title shootout on Saturday It comes after Hearts beat Falkirk comfortably and Celtic eventually see off Motherwell thanks to a controversial, shall we say, penalty awarded at the end.
Rangers lose four in a row after a bust-up between James Tavernier and Danny Rule. I'm Gordon Duncan, and joining me this evening, you've got the returning Marvin Bartley and Gordon DL.
Yeah, this season just keeps giving, especially with big Marv back in the hot seat. It didn't even get cold. LAUGHTER But you've got to look at last night, the drama, everything about it. Hearts getting the job done against Falkirk, standing there waiting for that result coming in. Because to be honest, I know that even if Celtic hadn't got the late winner, they're still in the title.
But Hearts would have been firm, firm favourites. You'd have fancied them.

Chapter 2: How did Hearts' manager react to the penalty decision?
Rangers, what has happened to them after the split? They've went right downhill. We've now got a battle on for fourth as well. Hibs Motherwell, that excitement. But nothing bigger... nothing bigger than what's going to happen 12 o'clock, Celtic Park on Saturday. I cannot wait, Marv.
Yeah, as you said there, it's a season that keeps on giving. I actually forgot that he was even playing yesterday because all eyes were on, obviously, the Celtic game and what Hearts could do at home to Falkirk. We both know what happened within those games. And listen, as you said, it's been a fantastic season that all ends at Celtic Park on Saturday and may the best team win.
0-1-4-1-9-5-1-1-0-2-5. Between now and eight o'clock, plenty of debate to be had. Polite disagreement, will we call it that? Let's wait and see how we get on in the next couple of hours. Sum up your feelings. What a season it's been. And just when you thought it couldn't get more dramatic, last night arrives. So, what did you make of the penalty incident at Fir Park?
That seems like a good place to start. Derek McInnes called it disgusting. Jens Bertolascu says he's never seen anything like it in his career. It has reached as far as Gary Lineker and Jeff Stelling and various pundits all across. But obviously... none more important than Gordon Diehl and Marvin Bartley. They'll really keep you up to speed on what's happening.
Don't worry about anybody else, but we do want to know what you made of it, quite simply. Did it hit his hand? Did it not hit his hand? Was it in an unnatural position or was it not?

Chapter 3: What are the implications of Rangers' four consecutive losses?
Are you one of the people that went out in your street late last night and tried to reenact it to prove that you can hit the ball off your hand and have it travel 20 yards? There is a lot to get through on that topic, so you don't need any further encouragement from me. Just pick up the phone 0141 951 1025. Who am I kidding?
I was going to say maybe we'll talk about the football and the fact we've got a top two title showdown on Saturday. That might be wishful thinking, but just in case at five to eight we manage to squeeze it in. How are you feeling about all that? Seriously, if we can just park everything else and talk about that. Drama for a second. Think about that. A top two final day shootout for the title.
Hearts only need a point. Celtic need to win. It is going to be sensational. I wonder if Danny Rule's a bit relieved about the handball drama because on another night, I think you Rangers fans would be battering down this phone telling us how unacceptable it is to lose four consecutive league games for the first time since the early 80s. You've got even...
James Tavernier's final Ibrox outing sort of gone in a bit of strange fashion he leaves and then he comes back and there's the presentation and Danny Rule tried to clear it up afterwards and I'm not sure anyone was convinced so again Rangers fans if you do want to fight through all the other stuff and share your dismay we're here for you 01419511025 the good news for you Marvin Bartley is we don't have too long probably to put you on the spot it's going to be a busy old show on one hand pleased to see you back obviously
On the other hand, it's quite a big story when you handed your resignation last week. You did put a statement out, so to speak, but for those who've missed it, what happened there? Why are you back? Miss Gordon.
Not you, Gordon. No, listen, you know, when I took over the job, as I said, I was told that we had next season. Obviously, the position that we were in, we were told that obviously the team were really, really struggling in terms of getting relegated. It was a high probability and we'd have next season to bring the club back up.
You know, we then got to the Monday after the Aberdeen game and we were told that
ultimately we needed to reapply for our jobs or apply for apply for the jobs now you know when we were first put in I turned it down the first time it was then offered to somebody else there's five or six of us in the room they said that they definitely weren't doing it in stronger words and that's when it came back to me and it said listen I understand the situation we are in it's a big struggle at the moment nobody's going to do it this season without having a promise of next season so
When that promise was broken after the Aberdeen game, myself and Neil Hastings, we felt that we had done well enough over the 11 games and that should have been kept too. And when promises start to be broken as big as that, we decided to go because morally for us, sorry, it was wrong.

Chapter 4: What was James Tavernier's statement about his final game?
How disappointing was that, the way then that ended? Were you tempted to suck it up and apply? Is that where the principles kick in? What was your feeling?
Yeah, because ultimately, Gordon, you start to think to yourself, us two being blamed for the relegation. You know, if everyone had to reapply for their jobs, their current roles, etc., then it's very, very different. But when it falls just on two people, as I said, you know, The previous 11 games, too, I said the side had lost eight and drawn three.
And then we had, I think, drawn six and won a game as well, played against some really big teams. But as you said, we weren't going to do that. You know, as I said, the goalposts were moved and dramatically moved as well. And as I said, you know, morally for us, it was wrong. we weren't going to, you know, basically apply for a job that we were kind of forced into.
Well, thanks to Marvin for his Livy update. Probably the last you'll hear of it between now and eight o'clock because it's going to be a busy show. But if you do, for some reason, want to put him on the spot, he is here. As if we've not got enough drama, James Tavernier has actually just put out a statement explaining everything from his side of it. And it's...
It's pretty damning in terms of how he feels he's not had promises kept to him. He explains that he was going to have an injection, then he pushed it back so he could play. He was under the impression he would start. He had his kids coming along. His son put off a trip away with the academy. He thought they were going to walk out as mascots.
Then the goalposts were moved, told they would be starting as a sub, and then it all went south from there. So if we do get the chance to get round on another night, that's like hold the back page.

Chapter 5: How did the handball incident affect the title race?
Let's get, you know, but you never know. Let's try and work our way through it if we can. 01419511025. A couple of days left, Gordon, and who knows what's going to happen.
Yeah, I said at the top of the show, Gordon, for a neutral, I've been sitting here waiting for this day coming on Saturday. I thought it was just going to be the perfect end to an absolute crazy, crazy season, you've got to say. You did feel a little bit for hearts last night because at one point,
you know the TV was flicking over to Tyne Castle and back and you could see the excitement in the hearts fans faces they thought that Motherwell had really done them a great turn all credit to Celtic they got the Pentley kick we'll obviously discuss that but the one thing you've still got to put it in the back of the net and that takes a cool nerve and they run away with a 3-2-1 and it's now all to play for look Celtic will certainly be favourites no doubt about that
don't write this Hearts team off. Do not write this Hearts team off. They have got guys that can go to Celtic Park. They've played Celtic three times this season in the league and not lost to them yet. Beat them twice and drew with them. It will be a big ask because everybody will be talking about the atmosphere and the crowd and everything at Celtic Park with Martin O'Neill. But remember,
Hearts have got a fantastic experienced manager in their dugout as well. They've got probably two of the best strikers. In fact, they have got the two best strikers in the league. So it is a blockbuster. It is going to be sensational and the excitement will be there all the way through.
Yeah, I totally agree. Listen, it's not going to be a walkover for Celtic at all.

Chapter 6: What do pundits think about the VAR decision in the match?
I think Derek McInnes was very clever with some of the things he said yesterday in terms of trying to create that siege mentality. But every time Hearts have been up against it this season through injuries and everything else, Shanklin being out, Devlin being out, Oscar McAtee being out as well, they've dealt with it.
So listen, going into this game, it's one of them that they know that Celtic have to come and beat them. I think Hearts will be very, very dangerous in the game. Like you said, it's going to be an absolute blockbuster of a finish and
at the start of the season if you someone said you're going to get this you'd wish for that let's set the tone let's hear from let's go Derek McInnes because of course it was a busy night for him but he had his attention drawn to that handball decision at Fir Park as well but it's hard not to feel that every day felt the crowd felt a bit flat and it wasn't your normal um
I'd heard there was a 96-minute penalty. I didn't need to ask how far. And it was going to VAR. And obviously, Celtic have scored. Having seen it, it feels like us against everything. When you see the two that we didn't get at the weekend, and then you see that, how they can arrive at that situation. Celtic have, I'm sure... More than a touch of fortune of getting that penalty.
But I'm getting more and more dismayed at some of the decisions that our referees are coming up with. It's such a bad decision. Motherwell must feel totally aggrieved with it. I don't see... I had to keep looking at it. I thought I was missing something when I was watching it. I didn't... I had to ask, what am I looking for here? So, no, it's actually quite disgusting, to be honest.
So really pleased with the lads. For us to get 80 points is fantastic. I'm so proud of them. The fact that we get that final showdown game is perfect for Scottish football. The drama, the excitement, the spotlight on that, it couldn't be billed any better.
Whoever put the post split fixtures together, they deserve a lot of credit because it's got everybody what they wanted in that last game at Celtic Park. So we're looking forward to it.
Stevie's on the line. Stevie, what did you make of the handball?
Hi, Gordon. Well, I really think that it definitely wasn't a handball.

Chapter 7: How are the fans reacting to the recent performances of Rangers?
And then that Celtic penalty last night was just icing on the cake. And I'm glad that it's actually getting noticed now. Because I've been talking about this for years now. They're ex-Rangers players in other media outlets. And the direct quote that I'm going to give you is, they run things up here. We use the word corruption. We use the word cheating.
And he says, the integrity of the game is coming into question. I'd just like to know what the panel think about that.
Talk me through your, because you said, you know, everybody agrees it's not a penalty. Unfortunately, we don't agree on anything in this part of the world. Talk us through your sort of reason. Do you not think it hits his hand at all? Do you think it does? You know, give us your kind of expanded thoughts on why it's not.
No, I don't believe it does hit his hand. We could go into this ad nauseum. We've seen it. We've seen the angle that the ball goes away from the guy's head. I could give you a million reasons and there's nothing that suggests that that guy did not heather that ball away. That was not a handball. I'd like you to also touch on the other stuff that's been going on at the moment.
This is not the only thing that's been going Celtic's way and it's been like this for years and to be honest with you, I'm getting sick of it.
Handball or not? I've looked at this all day. I'm actually fed up looking at it. And I'm still in a situation where sometimes I see different angles. Am I saying Pettley or not Pettley? The reason I'm going quite simple for me, and I'm listening to everybody's opinion, the rule is clear and obvious mistake from the referee, right? I don't think that's a clear and obvious mistake.

Chapter 8: What are the expectations for the upcoming Celtic vs. Hearts match?
So if I don't think that's the situation, I don't think VAR should get involved in it.
How could it not be a clear and obvious mistake if Andrew Dallas, who's in VAR, and he sees it and says, for me, that's hit his hand, and his hand's in an unnatural position. Surely that then becomes a clear and obvious error because the referee hasn't seen it.
Are you 100%... No, I'm talking about Andrew Dallas, though, from his point of view.
He's 100% certain that it's hit his hand.
So if you... I'm struggling with the sort of...
the angles and the view and when you see it there only is one but when you see some of the still pictures and where his hand is you're thinking well he can't do nothing else but when you see the video that Celtic put out I think he looks like he's head of it Stevie says it doesn't hit his hand do you think it does or it doesn't because that doesn't mean you think it's a penalty
No. But do you think it hits his hand?
I think it glances his hand, yeah. So it touches his hand? Yeah, I think it glances his hand. But I think he headers it. And I think Trusty is in such a situation that... Because his hand's been up there. Nobody puts their hand up there when they're going to jump in front of their face right to hit the ball. Trusty goes into him. He goes up.
I just don't think it's enough to say 100% penalty kick. Now, what I will say, Gordon, is I've listened to Stevie talking about other pundits and that's up to them and radio stations and everything describing this as the worst decision in the world. No, it's not. No, it's not. I can see why...
