Hello and welcome to the Tailender Steve Bracknell Dua Lipa podcast.
Hello and thank you for having us on the Ted and the Steve Bracknell Dua Lipa podcast.
We should just say that we are delayed in recording, which will have no impact on the listeners because this just comes out willy-nilly anyway. But we've had a delay recording because there's been a problem with some of the software that it was being used by either Dua Lipa or Steve Bracknell that we couldn't log in to use the software. That's what's been happening.
That's behind the scenes of Tailenders at Tailenders HQ. This is a loosely cricket-based podcast with me, G4's Greg James, Sir Jimmy Anderson, Felix White, and Lord Machin Tendulkar, King of the Sea. Hello! Hello! On today's episode, here comes a menu. On today's episode, we're going to discuss Jimmy's exceptional bowling as Lancashire beat Derbyshire by 29 runs in the county championship.

Chapter 2: What happened during Felix and Matchin's trip to Bristol?
Because obviously we lost Ajit in the first, like literally first 10, 15 minutes of the game. And then you've got the substitute rule now where you can replace an injured player.
Yeah.
And there was loads of back and forth with that because we had two bowlers at the ground. One was Mitch Stanley who had a back spasm who couldn't play.
Chapter 3: Who is the cricketing legend Greg bumped into at Lord's?
And we had Tom Bailey who was regarded as too good to replace Ajit Singh Dale. But we didn't know that that was part of the regulations.
It seems ridiculous.
So yeah, it felt ridiculous at the time. We've then got to get Oli Sutton, who's just played a four-day game in Leicester for the second team, to literally travel three hours to then take part in the game. So he played seven days of cricket in a row, which surely it doesn't make sense from an injury perspective. So yeah, we had that going on.
I don't understand the Tom Bailey thing at all, because you haven't picked him in the first place.
If he's that good, do you know what I mean? There's a reason he's not in that team that week.
Yeah, I don't want to get into trouble by saying anything. I shouldn't. But we just thought, I think the whole ground, to be honest, the opposition just presumed it would be Tom that would come in. You know, the rules say like for like replacement. It was a new ball bowler for a new ball bowler. But the match referee determined that Tom's record was better than Ajit's.
He'd seen him bowl earlier in the season, thought they bowled better than him. So it was like he's adding resources to the game or adding quality to our team for that game. Yeah.
didn't allow it for that reason but again the umpire makes the decision the umpire no no match referee the umpires don't have anything so who who could you have replaced I mean matching was there you could have replaced him with matching on a scale from Tom Bailey to matching what who's acceptable
Well, he's not as good as Ajit Singh Jailer, as he mentioned, so that would be okay by the match referee.

Chapter 4: What health tips does Justin Rose share?
I managed to take my dad for a walk from the hospital and we went to Lords because there was a game on. It was MCC Women's Day. And they had a couple of exhibition matches on and loads of school kids and stuff. And they were playing just on the outfield. Yeah. They were playing. There was a game. Yeah.
And we went in there and one of my aims was to get him back to the cricket at some point to, you know, get him back into real life. And as we were walking, we were walking around the concourse and I had this wheelchair just in case he needed to sit down. Mark Nicholas just appeared out of nowhere. Out of nowhere. Just dressed in this unbelievable brown three-piece suit looking incredible.
No way. Did he ask your dad about the medical procedure?
Procedure?
That is a great reference and something I think about most weeks. For those tailenders that don't know, Mark Nicholas used to do, well, he is one of the all-time great cricket commentators and front people. But he also did a thing, an advert, and he was interviewing Shane Warne and Michael Warne and kept saying, is it a procedure? He kept saying, so tell us about the procedure.
And so he appeared like a vision out of nowhere and said, how's it going, boys? He calls everyone boys, which is immediately just really exciting. How's it going, boys? And my dad was just sort of sitting there in a wheelchair feeling a little bit, you know, worse for wear.
Not like a boy. Yeah.
Not like a boy. Like a very, very old man. Yeah. But we had a really nice chat and he was like, well, I'll see you in the summer. You know, just let me know if you want to come and see a game or get you into the, you know, box or whatever. Because he's the chairman, isn't he now?
When we did the thing at Calgary Lecture, he was president and then gave him, wasn't the joke that he sort of made himself chairman? Well, he didn't make himself chairman, but anyway, whatever it was. But he was really, really sweet to my dad. And they were talking because he has a heart thing.

Chapter 5: What are the restaurant recommendations discussed?
Step by step. And avoid Elvis. And keep, yeah, just one foot in front of the other.
But if you do see Elvis, give our regards to him and give Elvis a go well.
Cheers! You know, Alistair Cook's running the marathon, I think. Is he? He's hoping to do a sub-three hour marathon. Doesn't sweat.
Wonderfield sweats. Wonderfield sweats. He doesn't sweat, does he? Don't know if he will, you know.
Sub-three. Extraordinary. I'd like to know that. Go well to Alistair Cook. Go well, cheers.
I'd like to say a quick go well on the marathon, a quick go well to Matt Chintendulka, King of the Sea, who gave me my answer on the marathon for Fighting Talk this Saturday morning, which scored me, I think, four points. I would have been in trouble without Matt Chintendulka's answers. So go well, Matt Chintendulka.
No worries, mate. Happy to be your ghost writer anytime.
engagement's done that one to becky who's running the london marathon bumped into yes i bumped into becky i was walking the dog the other day she was doing a training run and she shouted i'm listening to and so i'd say i shouted go well as she zoomed past and then she did it Josh finished the Manchester Marathon as well. Run well, go well to all of you.
Henry should have been revising for his A-levels, but instead was watching Gloucestershire versus Lancashire on the live stream. That is a great use of your brain. You should do that. Much more important than A-levels. Amy saw someone dressed as a chilli at Edgbaston. Go well to you. It must be a grief-related incident. And what else have we got?
