Chapter 7: Who are the standout players this week in MLB?
They're starting out the season very, very strong. They take 2 out of 3. Randy Vasquez, okay, buddy. Padres win 1-0. That never happens at court. They win that in Game 1. Rockies come back, win Game 2, 8-3. Before the Padres take 10, Game 3, 10-8. Gavin Sheets, with a massive homer there. Padres take two out of three. And the Marlins, two out of three in Miami from the Cardinals.
These are two teams who I'm still trying to figure out what we have going on. Maybe they got something going. Maybe they don't.
Chapter 8: What are the latest developments in the Cubs' performance?
Marlins win 5-3 before losing 5-3 and then winning 4-1. That's my timer going off. If you can hear that Max Meyer, nice start for them. Uh, Kate eight over five and a third retiring 10 straight after hitting the first two batters of the game. Uh, Marlins take two out of three. Let's get into it. Jolly. But first I need the standings powered through baby.
I didn't like those Mets twins strays in the middle, but everything else was pretty much people. Let's just call it what it is. Two wins in a row. Let's relax. Let's start in the East, Trev. The Philadelphia Phillies bringing up the rear right now. I know we're not supposed to start at the bottom, but my goodness. 8-17. We covered up their stink for two weeks. My New York Mets were 9-16.
Nats lose 3-4, 11-15. Marlins quiet. 500 team kind of, 12-13. But the story... is the Atlanta Braves. Why did we ever doubt them? Why did we assume that one bad year where everyone got hurt was going to take them off the map? They're 18-8. The NL East is over. It might be over. It's crazy. We'll get back to that in a little bit. The Cubs, they mop the fills.
They've won nine games in a row playing the NL East. Good medicine right now. They're 16-9 tied with the Titan Cincinnati Reds, who win on the road all the time. 16-9 for them as well. The Cardinals, 14-10. The Pirates, 14-11, but that's only good for fourth place in the NL Central. And how about your Brew crew losing two out of three to Detroit?
Still 13-11 on the year, but that'll put them in the cellar of the NL Central. And out west, We have a tie. For the first time, it seems like this year, the Padres were able to gain ground on the Dodgers. They are 17-8, and so are the Dodgers. They're tied for the best record in baseball atop the National League West there. Great road trip.
They come home and they lose a series to the White Sox because the Dimebacks are chaos. They are 14-11. The Giants get a big series win to gain some ground as well. They're 11-14 in our rock pile. The Colorado Rockies, 10-16, bringing up the rear. Trev, those are your National League standings.
Nobody except one person does it better. Only one person. We got to start in Chicago. Cubs going off. Phillies down bad. As I mentioned, it's kind of been the Schwerber and Harper show offensively for the Phillies. And even those guys, they're just having decent starts to the year, essentially. Sure. There's no...
