What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
All right, day one, Buffalo Bills training camp is in the books. I was there and I got plenty of observations to go over here today on this episode of Talking Buffalo, your weekday daily driver for Buffalo Sports Talk and more. My name is Patrick Moran. Thank you so much, as always, for listening to the show, for watching. However you are taking in Talking Buffalo, I truly, truly, truly appreciate you guys. I also appreciate our sponsor for today's show, the Law Office of William Attar. Heard in a car, call William Attar, 444-4444. Call William Attar today to get the compensation that you deserve. The offseason is now officially over. Training camp started today. Today, when I'm recording this here, sometime mid-afternoon on Wednesday.
A very soggy St. John's Fisher start of the Buffalo Bills training camp. Real quick. Again, I was there. I'll be there for actually all the practices with the exception of Saturday, August 1st. Your boy's going to see Tim McGraw at Darien Lake that day. But I'll be at all the other practices, both practices at Highmark Stadium. And we'll kind of have an observation and recap show for each of those. Originally, so I drove to Rochester from Buffalo. very, very early Wednesday morning. I was actually planning on staying over with a friend and going, you know, getting to sleep in a little bit and go to practice. On Thursday, I was going to record something around the facility at St. John Fisher or at least somewhere nearby, but something came up back at home in Buffalo and I had to shoot all the way back home.
So since I'm here, I'm going to record this episode in the same home studio that you guys see and listen to most of the podcasts. But for sure tomorrow and probably all four practices that I'll be covering next week, I'll be somewhere on location. I don't know if it's going to be inside the stadium, Pittsburgh Dairy, somewhere around Rochester will be where you're getting most of these podcasts. But I am here right now recording this in Buffalo. And I got to say this, too.
What weather conditions affected Bills Day 1 training camp and how did they shape the practice format?
Boy, I mean, it's fun to have football back. But if you want a reminder that with football, shitty weather is just around the corner. Look no further than day one of Buffalo Bills training camp. Honestly, absolute shit weather. I mean, it rained hard. almost every second before practice, hours before practice, during practice, after practice, almost the entire ride back from Rochester to Buffalo. At times, light rain. At times, hard rain. Windy at times, too. Pretty crappy elements for being a late July, you know, Bills training camp practice. Which is funny because, honestly, it's been a great summer here in Western New York. I mean, it has barely rained. The temperature has been warm. It hasn't been, you know, like suffocating humid.
It's been really good weather. Very enjoyable. In fact, this has been one of the more enjoyable Buffalo summers I can remember in quite a while to this point. Definitely not the case here, though, I say John Fisher to kick off Bill's camp. It sucked. Probably the crappiest day of the summer, honestly, to this point. I don't think it deterred fans too much. though it surely did some anyway, like for being a first day of training camp, if it was nice out, I would bet that the stands would have been completely packed and they weren't, they weren't even really close to being packed. I'd say maybe half capacity, but again, the weather certainly an element to that. Um, An earlier start. I mean, the Bills are now practicing at 830 as opposed to 945.
For some people, that matters, especially for people who are coming from maybe from Buffalo, for an example. Again, there's a big difference between getting up at 6.30, 7 o'clock and driving to Rochester as opposed to having to get up at 5 o'clock to do so. So I'm not shocked that the crowd was at less than capacity between, like I said, that and the rain. In terms of practice, lasted about 90 minutes. done around 10 a.m. I have no idea if 90 minutes is going to be the norm for a Joe Brady Buffalo Bills head coach practice.
