You know, it it would be nice to you know, it's nice to to get a press pass, to go on a field for a practice or to be in a press box in a game. Those are certainly good perks, food. Some cases free park із no question. about that. It comes with the pros for sure. But there's also aspects of covering a team or just like I said, being somebody in the media who gets credentials of things. It kinda comes with a with a price, especially when you're covering a team and some media people don't like to talk about it, but the reality is
That organization may not directly tell you what you can and can't do, what you can and can't talk about how you should or must act, um, things like that. If there's things that they don't want reported that you know about, I can't force you to not report them. But trust me, for as somebody who knows. a lot of people in the media and as somebody who's done it himself i in the past. Um there's a downside to it as well. I kinda like things for me with this show the way they are. I can say what I want. I can do what I want. I don't really get a lot of feedback from the Sabres, the Bills, you know, a and just things of that nature. I bring that all up because There are some days here and there where I am clearly envious of
those who do have uh the opportunity to cover team and players in specific events. And here is re recorded on a Mid Tuesday afternoon. By the way, thank you, of course, everyone talking buffalo. Um There's certain things that I wish I could be there for as as a member of the media and the high mark stadium ribbon. cutting ceremony and tour for all the media people throughout an incredibly well certainly look to me uh impressive facility. That's something that I'm definitely jealous and and envious of. I'm joined uh as usual for my midweek podcast by Matt Warren from SP Nation. And I bring all this up because Matt is one of those accredited members of the media who was
on hand today for the ribbon cutting cutting ceremony. And for me more importantly, just getting a A really solid look at the entire uh facility. Quite the day, man. Turning the page, a new era uh uh Buffalo sports and just culture. Here in Western New York. Matt, what's up, dude? How you doing? I know it's been a a busy day for you. Do you do you have a Fitbit? Do you care about your steps? Did you get a lot of steps in today? That's probably the one thing I would have liked as well.
I got a lot of steps in. I um I don't have a Fitbit. My cousin works for Strava, so I use Strava whenever I um do work out. I might I might put it in later today after I I do some uh quick calculations uh using the Google Maps distance calculator.
Quite the day here for uh for the stadium for people who were there to cover it. Obviously fans at home seeing all the uh the videos and the photos, some of them put up by yourself and and Chris Trapasel from Buffalo Rumblings, who was there alongside with you. I do have to take people uh behind the curtain a little bit. We couldn't work it out because we're Three people with three different schedules and just the timing didn't work. I was hopeful to uh to get Met and Chris together for the kind of like a live. tape it in the afternoon around lunchtime, but things ran long. There was a lot more to see than I I feel like you guys yeah originally thought. So uh we're back Matt's back at home in his home office.
I'm here uh in mine. So that's how we're uh recording this show, which won't be a long one today, by the way. I know I say that a lot, but today actually by the time we are recording this, we both got a lot of stuff going on here. Including that was just telling me before the show, you're covering the NBA draft tonight for for Espionation. That's a that's a nice little switch up for you.
