This is Friday's United Daily Podcast. I'm Wayne Barton with today's news and rumours.
What transfer rumors are surrounding Manchester United forward Ahmad Diallo?
AC Milan have added Manchester United forward Ahmad Diallo as one of their priority attacking targets for next season. That's according to the Sun. Ruben Amarim is there, so obviously two and two together. They were linked to Mason Mount earlier in the window as well. Um you would have thought two and two and Two, uh the the reporters would go further and say that you know Ahmad spent some time on loan in Milan that they did not. Um so uh yeah, it's a bit lazy reporting. This is saying Brighton and Newcastle are almost interested in Ahmad. But United feel this is a quote, feel reluctant to sell unless a major offer arises. We'll see about that. I don't think Ahmad will be on the move this summer.
Why might United resist selling Ahmad unless a massive offer arrives?
Uh United are high up on him, he you know, had spells of in different form last season. But uh when he was playing well, um as he did on last day of season on the uh the last day of the season, um in tandem with Brian and Bumo, um it's one of United's highlights really, so I can't see in moving any time soon unless a a massive offer comes in. There won't be a massive offer coming in for Marcus Rashford, um not even from Turkey, Fenabache in Galatasar, I will link to him. But as I said yesterday, it's not the kind of move that he a player of his profile will be looking to make and his um advisers were quick to brief that out yesterday. No talkes whatsoever with any Um Turkish Club and no plans to do so.
Um United have apparently uh they're looking at two defenders, Carlos Augusto of Inter Milan, the left back, and um West Ham's Oliver Skulls. He's also been uh mentioned as a possible incoming transfer. Carrick looking to provide Backup or competition to Luke Shaw. But United haven't made any formal moves on either of those players. That's the transfer rumours for today. Um a few happy birthdays to bring you Joe Cassidy, a player who was born in eighteen seventy-two. He played 174 times for the club, he scored 100 goals, all of this while
Is Marcus Rashford likely to move to Turkey or any other club this summer?
The club were known as Newton Eath in the last five years of the nineteenth century at one of the um great players of the Newton East era. Also one of the Busby babes, Colin Webster, signed from Cardiff, but he was a very young lad. A lot of debate on whether or not he qualifies as a homegrown player. Um Webster's inclusion, the um technical On whether or not the game against Spurs in 1957 qualifies as all homegrown. But United did pay a fee for Webster and he did arrive from Cardiff um as a professional player, so I don't know. I think the um golden dream is just that bit off. Um Webster played a lot in the aftermath of the Munich crash. He overall he played 79 times. Scored thirty one goals. He was um w uh yeah, Welsh international fine player at the time.
Two United defenders to close on. Yapstam. He um the great United Mid uh defender who played from ninety eight to two thousand one very short career but won the title in every season that he played for the club.
Which left‑back options are United considering and why haven't they acted yet?
Sold in acrimonious circumstances of course, but let's not um dwell on that. Let's talk about the fact he's still perceived by many as the best ever defender to play for the club. And it's hard to disagree with that. He's um you know he's So uh flawless. He had a couple of dodgy games against Nicholas and Elke, but then once he settled in, he was absolutely magnificent, imperious in the European games in the treble run, signed for a club record, worth every single penny, sold for a profit as well. Um, and one of those rare occasions where Alex Ferguson had except he made a mistake. Also born on this day, Victor Lindelof, a player who was called the I. Ice manning kind of reference to Stam, um played more than twice as many games for the club as Yap Stam did.
Um despite not being um anywhere near as um as good as him in the end, unfortunately. It's just the the period in which he played. Lindelof moved on to Aston Villa.
