This is Sunday's United Daily Podcast. I'm Wayne Barton with today's news and rumours. Roma are briefing they are unhappy that Manchester United haven't put a formal offer in for Manu Kone and have reportedly given a six day deadline for Michael Carrick to make his move.

United I don't think are in for Manu Kone. I think it's a very convenient uh smoke screen while they get on with the the work that they want to do on the target that they are interested in. Um whoever that may be, if it's Carlos Baliber, if it's another midfielder, um United operating with their cards close to their chest. This transfer window after the protracted and unsuccessful chase of Fernandez who ended up going to Spurs. I think United are Hoping to avoid that kind of public embarrassment again. And James West was secretary, that was his official title, but he was um the manning role of of manager, if you like. So he was there when New and Heath uh folded and and then became Manchester United. Um obviously would be succeeded by Ernest Magnal and And uh Magnal would be the one who oversaw United's first glorious era of uh football, but you know, it was on this day in eighteen fifty six, James West, the man who the record books show as Manchester United's first ever manager was born.
