This is Sunday's United Daily Podcast. I'm Wayne Barton with today's news and rumours. Bayern Munich have got an interest in signing Benjamin Sesko. This has come from a Bayern insider. I don't know if there's expectancy of a move this summer, but they retained an interest in the Slovenian striker. They were interested, of course, when he played in the Bundesliga. and his name's always been linked to Bayern Munich. However, the rumour, the link says that they're interested in him because it will allow Harry Kane to play a deeper role in the future. Kane is 33, 10 years older than Cesco now. United signed Cesco as one for the future. Enjoyed a mixed first season, some good moments. You can see that there's a genuinely brilliant striker in there if the service is right.
They're also linked with Harry Kane.
What’s the latest on United’s pursuit of a left‑back – is Myles Lewis‑Skelly the real target?
Harry Kane's been linked with a move back to England at some point in his career as he might pick up the chase for that Premier League all-time goal-scoring record. Shearer still on 260 Kane well still on 260 he's been on 260 for 20 years hasn't he Kane on 213 so that's 47 needed to break that could he do that over 3 seasons possibly take him to 36 or 37 if he moves this year or next I don't know if United would still be interested in him he still looked a very prominent threat at the World Cup didn't he played some of his best football in fact I can't see it happening to be honest I think United invested heavily in Cesco for a reason I can't unless they received an astronomical figure for him I can't see that they want to turn that over now this late in the window as well
So I'd be very surprised if something like that happened now. PSG are going after Mika Gots, the Ajax winger who's rated around £50m. Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Spurs have all been interested in the Belgium forward. 21 years old, I don't think. He might go to PSG. PSG looking at moving on Bradley Barcola this summer for a big fee. Gotts seems like a sensible, but I think it'd be too much of a gamble for United. And if I'm being honest, I don't think, I think United's name is being used as a sort of leverage point here. United were linked with Illiman and Dayi earlier in the transfer window and earlier in the year they are not interested at a deal that's going to be out of the market for them but Al Hilal have been linked with a £75m move for him just as the move for the West Ham winger Somerville priced United out of the market this will be the same United won't be in for
at that price and you know I can see the logic in being exasperated with some of it you know the midfield market the top end of that has gone up so dramatically over the summer that if United weren't going to pay that kind of price they just weren't going to be in the market for those players so they've had to shop a little bit more prudent But some of the prices are astronomically stupid, and this is another one. And it's befitting United to not be... Well, befitting United that it's conscientious with its money to not go down that road for a player who would be a squad option, really, at United.
How might United use the Lewis‑Skelly link to negotiate a deal for Newcastle’s Lewis Hall?
The left-back area is one where United aren't looking for a squad option. They're looking for a significant upgrade as they move into the next period of time after Luke Shaw... Luke Shaw taking his fitness very seriously this summer as he comes under threat of replacement. Obviously Lewis Hull has been the primary name there. The link for Arsenal's Myles Lewis Skelly has resurfaced this morning. This is an interesting one. United were linked with him earlier in the year. Lewis Skelly was dropped from the Arsenal team. Arsenal have been playing different left backs there haven't they, is it Cali or Furiore I'm not as up to date with Arsenal's team as I should be but he definitely Lewis Skelly's not been in it, he was played in midfield for a little bit of time as well but Arsenal have been spending big this summer too
strengthen their midfield so it might mean that Lewis Skeller is available United swooped for Aidan Heaven didn't they they might be able to get another disgruntled youngster at a more reasonable fee than Newcastle want for Lewis Hall
