This is Tuesday's United Daily Podcast. Um Wayne Barton with today's news and rumours. It's a very quiet one this morning. The Guardian are reporting that United are in for Elliott Anderson. That's not new news. Um they're pushing it as uh Anderson being United's primary target, which was true, but the club are expecting him to go to Manchester City. They're keeping their hat in the race for as long as
Is Elliott Anderson United's primary target or will he head to Manchester City?
Long as um It remains unsure there. City had um their official opening bid rejected last week. I think they started at eighty million pounds. I'm not completely up to date with the figures in City's case I think they expect it to go over one hundred. Um that's certainly what Nottingham Forest wants. They want a British record transfer fee uh for a player. So um City have got some way to go to that, but they're expecting to to climb up to that at some point. Maybe they'll offer a combination of players, I don't know.
How much is Manchester City willing to pay for Anderson and what are the obstacles?
But United their hope is still invested in the idea that, you know, Anderson might not be so keen on moving after Guardiola's um resignation, or um that there might be some kind of resolution in the Manchester City case with the Premier League as well. That's not fourth. come in at the moment but um neither is any movement on um any quick movement on cities part um with concluding the deal for anderson because it was said that all parties who were interested in would want a a deal moved uh a deal to be concluded by the time the World Cup started which isn't gonna happen now. Um so yeah. United's interest is still there Um and in the event that he doesn't go to City then he he remains United's primary target.
But um he's very much an option B at this moment in time and with the expectancy that he will go to City. So quite why the Guardian have gone so big on it this morning, I'm not quite sure. Uh another nonsense rumour that Christian Romero, the Spurs centre back, these are reports coming from Argentina.
Why is Christian Romero being linked to United despite Spurs interest?
He's linked to the Move away from Spurs this summer. Most likely to go to Spain, either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid have been interested in him. United's name's been thrown in this morning, I think, because they've got Martinez in in defence as well and they play for each other, play with each other for Argentina. I can't see this one happening. I can't see Spurs selling to United, even though Levy's no longer part of it. They'll drive a hard bargain. United aren't gonna Wants consume
Could Mark Cucurella return to United and how does his loan history affect the deal?
most of their energy and money on a move for Christian Romero this summer. And finally one little rumour, um United obviously, um since they've briefed that they're open for left backs or looking for left backs, uh many have been linked with the club. Um Mark Cucarella is the name this morning. He was linked to the club a couple of years ago. When they signed Sergio Regolon on loan, I think his name was mentioned. He'd only just gone to Chelsea um after um joining Brighton but things have turned round for him at Chelsea, he's done quite well down there. Chelsea's still looking to do what they normally do in um mass um transfer activity over the summer in terms of moving a lot of players on and bringing players in.
Cucarella might well fall into that bracket.
What does United need in defence and left‑back positions moving forward?
So um some reports putting two and two together saying that United would be interested in Cucarella again, but they weren't back in the day when he was available for loan. And they did go for Sergio Regalon, which um was not a great choice, was it? Is the choice that they made though. Um his name's been mentioned this morning. I'll be surprised if that one happens. I think United are in for a permanent replacement for Luke Shaw and I think they'll go younger than Kukarella or more established. That's it for today guys. I'll be back tomorrow with the news and rumours. Have a great day.
